People dunking on Zajef for not liking most of these characters, or at least not being excited for them, don't realise that's a good thing - Zajef is cursed and all of the characters he gets excited about turn out to be shit or mid at best, so you generally DON'T want him to be excited for your faves 😂

my theory for the natlan archon quest is that the traveler will participate as a representative of a tribe for the tournament. which no one will bat an eye to since everyone is white so traveler literally fits right in

It's rare to see tall characters not having generic designs and being repetitive. Subjectively, short characters have much better designs and they're usually more memorable
Citlali is the only char in the whole trailer I cared for and she's rumoured to be a 4* so I guess I'll add even more saved primos to my stack... also really dislike Mavuika's design in terms of Genshin, like her design is alright but doesn't feel like it belongs in Genshin, more in some street racer game lol

@@lakindugunasekara9814 to be fair, hoyo puts a lot of effort in ethnic design and it being respectful (the whole kaveh stick comes to my mind), but they are generally bad with skin tones, even from the point of variety and its not like China is an excuse, plenty of Asian devs know how to do this.

Fontaine teaser was actually pretty good at presenting the themes and struggles of our quest on that region, with good amounts of tension and sense of imminent danger while still being exciting and colorful And while not of the same game, another recent teaser was penacony white night, which does not present any plot point directly but in exchange it was a pure spectacle of an incredible level (quiet fitting for Las Vegas honestly) Both of them were amazing, top tier teasers compared to the rest of the cheap copies that tend to be anime-style gacha teasers And natlan? its not clear with any of the core themes of the plot since we have to dig the meaning of the things and heavy speculate about the importance of this tournament, obviously is not a great spectacule or display of level production and it obviously is not even appealing from a cultural representation perspective (yeah no shit), so it only has some tension(?, tension hard carry by capitano presence in natlan btw
Yeah I agree with you, it's insane for a game as big as this that they would put more effort into making every character look different and unique same with kits
They look omega bland and not creative at all. Most characters from other regions you can tell they belong to said regions, but these guys could be from literally any game. I don't like them at all :/

It's the same company dude. They create hype where they need to. That's not an excuse of this negativity and if it's this bad none forced him to play it , did they? @xanthee_imr I just picked the most recent one. And I completely agree. All of these that you mentioned are indeed really really good. But I think you forgot how hard Zhongli demo hit back in the days. Eula demo, Raiden demo , Furina demo etc etc.. Or pretty much any hi3rd music animated video... But that's not my argument... I just find the constant negativity pretty weird and exhausting, that's all I m saying.

This community is made for a significant part by players who don't really enjoy and often pretend to enjoy the game while still keeping playing because of FOMO, sunk costs and other manipulation tactics typical of gacha games (but Hoyo is a master in those). This brainwashing inevitably leads to toxicity, both positive (people pretending it's all good when it's not) and negative (people sheetting on everything) and these two categories clashing make things even worse
Tbh there was more varied skin tones than I expected from a Hoyoverse game. Characters with even a slight tan sell worse on average in their largest market, as fucked up as that is. Nearly as fucked up is that fact that the global market is still going to hand over their wallets regardless of any lack of diversity (and Hoyoverse knows it).

I mean I kind of doubt she IS the archon. She seems to be a literal phoenix (there is one in Natlan). I suspect that the Pyro archon never got replaced and the plot of Natlan will be about reviving them. My guess is that 'Biker Gang Himeko' was something along the lines of the archon's familiar (like Yae for example).

We kinda learned nothing about the story other than theres a tournament. They were trying to peak our interest with the archon at the end but nothing of what she says makes any sense.
If red hair lady is Pyro archon (im pretty sure she is) I'm really disappointed. In a vacuum its fine, feels kinda like a racing suit kind of vibe though it really is generic and not that flashy. Outside a vacuum I really don't like it, it feels like it doesn't pull anything from cultural references or traditional clothing that inspires Natlan. Not that Hoyo has to do so, but i think its one of the strongest elements of the games design is pulling from and mixing together real world things.
Nah, my guess is that the original pyro archon never got replaced after their death and the lady you speak of is a Phoenix and probably the dead archon's familiar.
We need more exposition with Natlan TBH, being the only gatekeeped region from us players will lead many mixed opinions. For instance from Iansan's first reveal, which misleads many players of Natlan itself because how tribal looking she is then bombard us with characters who have very pokemom-esqu and very modern designs.

Bro that opinion about murata looking like shit is really unpopular. I also felt the same and posted it in fb group and dang was I thrown left and right by the comments. People do like her probably because its another himeko. But bruh I cringed looking at her. Those glasses that outfit just feels awful to look at. Its so out of place for her to be called an archon. She looks kinda ok in sideview when she and capitano shared frame but thats about it.

That said (there's always a "but") some time the "I'm too cool and mature to find joy in flash moves, pokemon style characters and hot anime girls" vibes is just boring... And murata just looks like she doesn’t belong…you’re telling me this red biker chick is the god of war?? Yea ok. I still think iansan looks the coolest and I’ll be pulling for her and Mualani cuz they’re cute. Capitano is sick asf too but they’re either gonna kill him off or mess him up somehow💀

I think that the pyro archon design doesn't have anything wrong with it but it also doesn't have anything interesting on it its just kinda there, kinda hope(though i really doubt it) that she has an interesting personality otherwise she's just kinda boring to me.

@@pioneershark2230 There is plenty of story. What is the tournament? It could be something that substituted the wars of Natlan that we heard about and make it less bloody, but it will probably be important. The archon (?) is talking about forging your own fate which is quite impossible right now in Teyvat so maybe that's what we are gonna be doing. The dragon tribes seem to be sleeping for some reason? Or she want them to be sleeping? I think there is plenty of story to think about here. It's not just a character showcase.
The reason these characters are evoking no emotions for me is because we know NOTHING about them. Genshin has done a terrible job in introducing Natlan in the story in game (I still think Inazuma had the best intro in the story by far). Fontaine's trailer spoke of a prophecy with high steaks for the region. This one seems like theyre just moping around and so Zzz from me
I have zero prediction skills, but im predicting Capitano will either die or get severely injured fighting Columbina in patch 5.4 or 5.6. She will go apeshhit and Capitano will have to team up with Traveller to defeat her. Then she will become a playable character. Im 8% certain my prediction will be 100% correct.

im so glad at least someone agrees that the archons design looks very meh. like its not a terrible design but for an archon? its just a skin tight body suit with some kind-of natlan-like markings. its got zero interesting silhouette outside of the cuffs and the hair and its just so ungenshin-like and so unlike anything else in natlan aside from the patterning. its such a letdown that its just horny bait. at least raiden looks like someone from inazuma.

trailer is the most boring when compared to the fatui and fortnite trailer. characters are presented boring and without any epic, region of war is tropics where pokemon competitions. capitano is presented boring in the same way, columbine was not shown. .
