When he was in 6th grade, he grew six inches in a month. Required emergency care. And got metal rods in his legs. Took him years to rehabilitate and walk normal again. Source: Sports Illustrated Article: "Photo of Giant Texas High School Football Player in State Title Game Goes Viral"
Hollin Pierce, a current left tackle for Rutgers University, was nearly 460 lbs and still standing at 6ft 8 inches as a senior in high school. Today, he is approximately 330 lbs.
No the knee braces are so you don’t blow your knees out even freshmen players who are really good where them so they don’t get cheated out of there season. It’s like saying to wr because they use gloves in high school there peaking
If he loses some weight he'll have a better chance. Not sure if this is the biggest player in the country though, I'm pretty sure there are players both taller and heavier than him, but maybe not both at the same time.
The kid clearly lacks any kind of body control and seems to even struggle walking. But honestly it won't even matter if the kid is motivated. No question he clearly has potential and if he is willing to get on a weight program and is motivated he will be great. Interesting prospect just based on potential alone.
He's going to have issues in his 30s like my cousin. He was 6' 5" 350 lbs in high school. Played OL and went to U of Arkansas. Never went to the NFL, but now, in his mid-30s serious back issues, knee and foot problems. He's down to 280 or so but still having issues.
His size is very intimidating and a plus for any team he plays for but because of his size i pray he doent ever have ant health problems or heart issues. Good luck be with you.
Conditioning? Mf needs intervention, his knees are crying for help with those braces. The right program needs to hire a full time nutritionist to watch that man 24/7
My roommate last semester had offers to multiple D1’s but wanted to focus on school, he said this “there are only 2 positions on OL, center and left tackle. If you aren’t playing either of those you aren’t good enough “
All you have to do when you face a lineman like that as a defensive lineman is run fast left or right to get the qb and if the offensive is fast though although very unlikely being that big, (just look at his slow walk to to maintain his huge weight), then run fast, then suddenly run fast the other way to get the qb. Most likely if the defensive lineman is fast the only way he’ll be stopped is if the defensive lineman holds which is illegal in football.
I agree. He’s too heavy right now to be a standout Div. 1 offensive lineman. He for sure will need a trainer to help him lose about 50 pounds and to help him develop nutritional habits to keep the weight off. Not just to make him better at football, but to save himself from early onset heart disease.
