Croatia has a positive migration soldo in 2022 and 2023 and therefore more people are moving in than emigrating. People have been returning disappointed in recent years from Germany and this is a song about going from village to city, not about leaving the country.

The song sticks in just one Key, E. And the lyrics are just too repetitive. Its a childrens song at best. But whatever floats the Eurovision European boats I guess. Low rating by me. But I am not European.

@@Mexxx65 I am a European though my musical tastes are classical and hardcore punk rock so I view the Eurovision Song Contest as a ethnographic study LOL The rules of the competition are three minutes max per song no more than six people on stage during the performance the vocals must be live - though the rest can be backin g tracked So getting as many people to vote for you means: in effect: 1) the lingua franca of Europe is used i.e. English as more folks understand that than say Finnish or Estonian were less than 1% of the voter will understand it. 2) That there needs to be a catchy riff or refrain that people can sing along or dance too. 3) Complex or interesting music will be be unlikely to do well in the national competitions nor the semi-finals nor the grand final. Ifind it interesting and amusing to watch as a spectacle before returning to my usual fare of music which I find interesting and enjoy.

I feel qualified to make information correct comments about the songs entered in this competition, having picked many of the winners. The standout songs for me this year were; Ukraine Israel Switzerland As their stage productions and singing performances were all extraordinary. Eurovision voting can become extremely political, and based solely on a songs popularity. No question I saw, with many other Eurovision fans, the popularity of Croatia's song. But, Croatia's song did not look like a Eurovision winning song. Its stage presentation was a mess, and completely incongruent with the songs message. Pirate costumes? Thrash metal costumes? The song was sung badly, just shouting in some sections. And far too repetitive. A novelty Eurovision song at best, as I've commented eleswhere in youtube. - I completely disagree with most of your "3" requirements for a successful winning Eurovision song. 2. "has to have a catchy riff you can dance to....NO, it can be a dance song, but the song has to appeal to all people and have a strong emotional component to its performance. 3. "Complex or interesting music won't do well....NO, there have been any complex Eurovision winning songs, songs that create a strong emotional connection with the audience, can be complex, if they tell a good story. There just is NO real story with Baby Lasanges Novelty song, he starts a story, but it goes nowhere, except into repeat. Like a childrens song.

​@@codscientist4877 I have the toughest skin on the internet. And have brushed off many a direct personal abusive comment. I stand by all my youtube comments. I've been watching Eurovision for over 30 years. Croatia was, attempting, a Kaarija Cha Cha Cha novelty dance song this year (copying their music note for note). But it wasn't good enough to win. As with Belgium's attempt that year. These types of songs do not connect with Eurovision voters in any sort of emotional way. They never do.

@@Mexxx65 it's not a copy, even Kaarija said so in an interview... it's the same genre for sure... although Baby Lasagna is a huge fan of Ramstein, same genre as well... BL made a mix of industrial metal, rock, electronic, rap and Croatian folklor ( involved in music, outfit and dance moves ). Btw, he won televotes, pretty big as well. He is the author, singer, and made an official video by himself and with a help from friends and family. He is going to be big real soon because he has talent for the music.
