I almost always support juvenile offenders being paroled, but I do think this one is a real risk. He's too hot headed and has zero respect for authority. I'm terrible about listening to authority too, but I'm also not a criminal. He needs to pull it together before he's going to get paroled.

How is a guy supposed to act when sentenced to life at 16? I’d probably live reckless and hopeless too. Angola, one of the worst prison in America basically raised this man. I got committed as an adult at 16 and I personally tell you I’m so far removed from that child. When I’ve told people who’ve known me 5 plus years I’ve been to prison they never believe me and can’t see how I’d end up there

I don’t know how Ms. Jackson and Mr. Marabella couldn’t have denied the death row guy just on the basis of what he wrote in his application. He quoted a Supreme Court decision on some case as his answer to what his actions were concerning his crime. Says the victim’s children gave minimal information about how it had affected them, when the question is to see if the offender has awareness re the damage caused, regardless of what an 11 or 14-year old might have specified at sentencing.

Parole Project is a money-making force here in Louisiana but they no doubt believe in this perp and so I wish they would talk more about the prisoner rather than about their program. It could be a way to resolve the bad look that Louisiana has presented to the world regarding people in jail. In this case, Parole Project should know the questions the board would ask and help him be able to respond appropriately. Just learning how to behave thoughtfully requires the "change of mind" that Mr. Roche was looking for. Haven't seen any case so far that bodes well for the Parole Project.

In all the death row pre-clemency recommendation hearings I have watched the 2 judges, Marabella & Jackson, always vote to grant him the hearing. Tell me its not political...Mr. Roche lays it all out for where a vote to grant can lead...

Jackson and Marabella voted that way because they were against the manner in which the board held the hearings. The governor asked for full hearings at the start but the Lt. Governor took it to court and the compromise was these administrative hearings where the board wasn’t allowed to question the actual prisoners. I can understand both sides of this argument.

I hear over and over about what age they were when they committed their crimes and even the board will sometimes say your not the same as you were at 16,17,18 and now your going on 50 I am only voicing my opinion but please they may not look the same at almost 50 but make no mistake about it that 17 year old is still a part of who they are you can better yourself and stop doing the thing you did at 17 but it’s still always going to be part of your story so yes that 17 year old is still inside this person he might have the monster caged up to where he’s not a threat now but you know about them cages what goes in can always be let out🗝

I just can't go along with condemning a man for life for something that happened when he was 16. To speak to him for 3 Mins and say he cussed in court 10 years ago that they know he's not grown up. He's grown up in prison, that's not the same as maturing on the outside and having no sexual contact from being locked up at 16 explains the sexual nature of the write ups. He's had no experience with sex or intimacy but that doesn't remove the natural desire he has. I think he deserved a chance after completing his program currently enrolled in.
