Head 1/6 is my first head this size. A really good experience. I have used oil over acryl and here is my complete way. Hope you enjoy it. Thank you for watching.
Amazing work, man! I was hoping you were going to paint the eyes, not only to see your work but the eyelss, smiling head was giving me the creeps after a while. Seriously though, great stuff. I'm trying to get up the courage to start on a FER bust with oils and this is really helpful.
Love seeing you working with the mix of oil paints and acrylics and would love to try oils having only done work with acrylic. Can you please show some work not speeded up showing how you use both brushes so we can see the level of thinner to use and how you go about cleaning the brushes during the work etc.
Thank you very much. I am glad you like my work. Here is not speeded video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QvbluyK9B5s.html The thinner is different (the old one, now I use odorless thinner) but using is same. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dNzjD-WxOeQ.html I clean round brush in the thinner and the flat brush in paper towel..or I use a new one.
Hi, thx for your content, amazing job. Do you think that for miniatures and busts is necessary to use W+S Artist series or Winson series is enough? Also do you have any colour list for oil NMM gold?
Thank you, I am glad you like my videos. It is not. W&N brushes are very good but not necessary😉🙂 I am sorry, I don't like NMM for historical miniatures.
Thank you very much. The brush is dry and clean. I always wipe it on a napkin. This method of painting only works for oil paints. The paints dry for a long time and you have time to work with a flat brush.
Just found your channel and Love it. Keep it coming. I'll start using oils on my action figures faces...more control....way more control! I already use oils for weathering effects. How would you approach skin pigmentation with oils? Can you seal the job with some mate/satin acrylic varnish? What brushes do you recommend/use, I always struggle to find good brushes...at least that can able to keep that pointy point :)
Thank you, Bruno, Yes, I can use a matte, satin finish, but I don't. In reality, we don't have a completely matte face. And thanks to the oils, the faces on my busts have a real insight... My brushes are W&N miniatures series 7, Raphael 8404 or Rosamary&Co series 33.
Hi Milan. I’m a big fan of your work, and have been inspired by you to try out oils too. But i’m not shure if it’s possible to voat your finished miniatures with a varnish when it’s done. Would you recommend it, or is it a bad idea?
Hello Emil, thank you, I am glad you like my videos. I don´t use the final varnish over the whole figure. Well, you can but the result will be completely matt and this is not real. There is metal, leather, skin tone...different surface and different material. When I use a varnish - AK Interactive Ultra matt varnish. It works very well. But I think the face will be matt. Wait 1-2 daye before use it. The oil layer should be dry.
@@milandufek8151 oh, that is a very good point with the matt and glossy parts. Thank you so much for the advice. I’m looking forward to see more from you. Have a nice day.
Whenever I oil paint white over darker color I find it very difficult to build up a bright white value. If I blend it too much its absorbed by the darker color underneath or it just slides around and doesn't really sit where I want the highlight to be. I eventually wait for the oil to dry and then dry brush with white acrylic. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Thank you very much. My brushes are W&N series 7, Raphael 8404 and Rosamary&Co series 33. Size 0-2, sometimes 0/3 for details... Flat brush is common brush from art shop.
Thank you very much. My round brushes are: W&N miniatures ser.7 , Raphael 8404 and Rosamary&Co ser.33 Flat brushes are common from art shop. "cat's tongue", nature hair, size 0, 2, 4. When visiting art shops, I always look for some new flat brushes and try them at home. Sometimes I buy well, sometimes I throw it in the trash right away.
Hi Milan I'm considering joining your patreon, your efforts and mastery deserves it, and I will learn a lot. I would like to know what are the miniatures you now have videos of. I want to buy one or two before joining. I usually paint warhammer, I can use an airbrush "properly", but my brush technique is not good. Which miniatures would you recommend me to buy first?. Thanks a lot.
Thank you very much. I appreciate you like my videos and painting technique. All pieces I have already painted for my Patreon and YT channel as well are very good. The quality of casting is very high and I didn´t have any big problem with cleaning and assembling. I can recommend all well-known companies like Young Miniatures, Fer Miniatures, Life Miniatures...for busts and for figures as well. I would start with the historical period you like. Then choose busts or figures and then the size...1/10, 90mm, 75mm etc.
Thank you for your question. This is very strange. Too dry? Try adding a little linseed oil when you have colors on your palette. Oil paints never dry quickly... Please try to write more about applying paint...
That is great painting for an bust without REAL CLOTHING So this does not work for clothed figures simply because cloth which is real in folds and shades and this painting do not suit together... So not working as soon uniform ect meets the head... Try it
Thank you for your comment. You are right. This is my first head size 1/6. I need to more paint. I would like to learn more but there are no videos, tutorials and how-tos from real 1/6 scale figure painters.
