Great review. Thanks for the content. Would you consider this an arm friendly frame?

Can't wait for the full review! Would love to hear your comparison with the Radcial MP in the full review as well as both are CPI 400.

Thanks for the input, I play with the gravity tour. I really like it because it reminds me of the earlier speed series but more pop! But I’m always looking for that perfect racket like I felt about the 360 speed series until I out grew it(I developed my own power eventually, racket wasn’t heavy enough).

I'm looking forward to your full review especially vs. Extreme Tour. Head CPI on the Boom Pro is 400 and the Extreme Tour is 500 yet the Boom Pro is more powerful. Interesting. Keep up the good work. Much appreciated.
@jeanb.3493
@jeanb.3493 2 года назад
Ime, you have to take Head's CPI ratings with a grain of salt, as they try to fit in their Pro>Tour>MP>Light hierarchy regardless of how the actual rackets play. And it is unclear to me if they have a clear definition of "power", one which should include trampoline effect, sweet zone size, stability (twist weight) esp on off-center shots aso.
@b.lakeberg7456
@b.lakeberg7456 2 года назад
CPI scale is getting crowded. I thought Head nailed it with thier older lines, but has not done so well with the newer lines. It is interesting the Boom is 400 while the Extreme tour is 500.

Nice first impressions review, try one of your favourite setups Element on the mains and Alu on the crosses and try use a rubber band instead of a dampener I found I got a lot more feel than using a 5g dampener on my Vcore 95 which you reviewed as too muted.

Sounds like Hawk Touch could work on it Jonas to crisp it up. I’ve also thought...you may like a 360+ Radical MP with a full bed or hybrid, of the muted Velocity MLT...it could tame down the Rad’s crispness and give you that plush feel, while giving you some more control than the Extreme Tour

Would the boom mp or instinct mp be more like the pure drive?

@vinay4886
@vinay4886 2 года назад
Thanks for the review. Watching you hit, I see your shots are so low and at times barely clearing the net despite the 16/19 pattern. Is it because of the muted feel you described or the string setup? All in all, I can’t help feeling that this racquet is an unnecessary addition to the Head line. What’s the point? I think Head will struggle to better the Extreme tour. Maybe there could’ve just introduced a 18/19 string pattern to the extreme tour keeping other specs the same.

Shape of it really reminds me head elite master. Very old edition from 60 Th 70th made from grafine. Probably old head and new material and 🤯 boom.

I have had the racquet for a month or two. It actually plays and feels better when there is a softer string in there. Played it with Solinco Confidential which is my usual string of choice and it just didnt connect. Tried some other similar strings. Then I strung it with Yonex Poly Tour Air and the racquet came alive. Im using Lynx Tour in there now and it plays pretty nice. Some of the performance stuff in terms of the racquet launching the occasional ball is still there, but the feel is way better with a relatively softer poly.

Not knowing where the string bed will deliver the ball is the worst feeling. The Dunlop FX500, while a great PD alternative tweener, had the same effect with the stringbed for me.

Such a fascinating tennis court. Stone masonry walls, seriously? I thought Genieva looked cool! All that baking rock must throw the heat in the afternoon. I'd feel so privileged playing there, so unusual and that glorious Malta sunshine! Should I be so lucky! 🙂👍👍

It's so funny that Head have made an egg-like head shape again, as they had in some models more than 20 years ago. Innovation, oh yeah...the old fans don't remember, the new ones don't know.

Have used Hawk Touch in many racquets. I always note performance of stringbed, a constant comment in my log books is SPRINGY. Regular Lynx is more controllable. I would suggest Lynx Tour as a great fit for this racquet. I have stopped using Hawk Touch all together because of this spring effect.
@userdjee834
@userdjee834 2 года назад
I'm sorry, but I've used and broken reels of Hawk Touch, both in 1.25 and 1.30, both red and anthracite, and it's not springy at all, it's a total control string and you can hit as hard as you can. It has a very consistent snap back and launch angle almost until it breaks, and is great precisely for controlling the launch angle, for example in a 100 sq in 16x19 racquet with an open string pattern. Sinner uses it @28kg in his Speed Touch MP, so does Zverev and others on mains with gut etc. An example of a springy string is Tecnifibre Razor Code. In this review Lynx Touch is mentioned, but it's not on sale yet, it's a new softer poly.
@tegg02
@tegg02 2 года назад
@@userdjee834 No need to be sorry. As far as total control string from Heads poly line up, Hawk standard is super controlled and is the absolute best in that department. I have found Hawk Touch to be a little springy. Lynx Tour is what I referred to and has a firmer feel and predictability to Hawk Touch. Lynx Touch is the latest one and suppost to have the feel of a hybrid string job. Haven't seen it as yet. Anyway just my observations.

Imagine if Wilson came out with a 6.1 98 -> 65 flex, 16x19, but dense pattern. That could be great, without the muted feeling of these Heads. Nearest equivalent today is the Dunlop CX200 (non-tour) either 2018 or 2020 version.

@goldencalf5144 2 года назад
Well, there is the Pro Staff 97 V13. It has a 16x19 pattern with the strings denser towards the centre. I put 20g of silicone in the handle and a bit of lead in the tip and it's now an absolute beast with beautiful feel.
@fluffy_skye
@fluffy_skye 2 года назад
@@goldencalf5144 Too heavy for me. I like 305 unstrung with not too high swing weight. That’s why I’m using the Pro Staff Six.One 100. Boom Pro is 310 unstrung, a little bit high, but swing weight is manageable. So having high hopes for boom pro. It might be the one.
@oliverdesouza5741
@oliverdesouza5741 2 года назад
@@goldencalf5144 Sound good. Although the PS97 strings are a bit tighter in the middle, overall the sweet spot is quite spaced out at around 1.45cm2 average cell size, compared to say 1.28cm2 on a CX200

Looked like you hit pretty well with it. At the beginning you took a number of FHs off the bounce - seemed stable. I still believe it’s too light for advanced players; probably good for players in the higher end of intermediate play.

The Extreme Tour is such a great (and underrated) racquet that it is hard to find a good alternative. For this Boom Pro I suggest to restring it with Hawk Touch.
