The first girl strikes me as someone with no real life experience to speak of - didn't view the tickets as anything that needed to be handled, car got towed and she never bothered to try to go get it, thinks she's going to buy a new car while she has no money with a 1-year old at home - yikes.

This is what happens to people who think they could just let the problem fix it self. Or worse thinking they could just buy another car. Well, when get a ticket every legal entity gets involved Traffic court, DMV, towing company, storage, the police, etc. This girl is now learning the hard way, if you need a car called the court, or pay up, just do it!!!

Best moment of the video was Inspector Quinn denying taking the breakfast bar. Do I believe him? No way, the crumbs were still on his hands. Seriously, that young woman needs more help than Judge Caprio could offer her, although he gave her excellent advice. It might have been more helpful to make her pay more, allowing her time to do so. But I suspect he was right when he said she wouldn't pay it.

She doesn't have a job with 11 parking tickets & towed car for 5 months. She didn't want to pay any of it but have enough money to buy a new car!!! She got away very easy because of the judge caprio. I am wondering what her next-generation will do in future

she specifically states that she has SECURED a job but training does not start until later ( meaning she isn't going to get paid until then). The judge might not understand the women's goal with the tickets but he understands that it makes more economic sense for the woman to simply get a new car that pay all the outrageous towing/storage fees on her old car which is why he's cutting her a break (charging her a ton of money would make no sense for her learning responsibility and would only serve to hurt her situation and her child).

she can't afford the fees on the old car and JUST now secured a job. It makes more economic sense to let the tow company keep the old car, save up money and then get a newer car when she officially starts her job and has steady income. Providence is not exactly a public transportation hub like NYC so getting a car for work, taking your kids to the doctor, etc makes sense.

The poor girl isn't that smart nor is she responsible. She is so lucky she faced this judge. I'm guessing the $100 would be challenging to pay. That said, I've been there and I have an MBA, so I'm not unduly criticising her.

I'm upset about this girl with 11 parking tickets...so irresponsible. She just didn't care ... She got away easy... I got a speeding ticket in California . I payed 280$ plus 50$ traffic school and I was working part time , going school full time at that time. Over there I didn't even got a chance to fight the ticket in court...

She’s never getting that car back. If she abandoned it for five months it’s obviously paid off and not worth much. Tow company will hold it for a year or whatever the time line is and sell it at auction.

Andrew Reist It depends how ruthless the tow company wants to be. If it’s a $500 car that sells for scrap and she racks up $5,000 in storage you bet she will be getting collections calls. If it sells for $2,000 they might let it go. The debt will either follow her around for decades ruining her credit or she’ll have to settle in civil court. I don’t know the law in RI, but the tow company may have even auctioned it at three months if there was no contact from the owner.

Of course, the judge cannot reduce the storage fees owed to the independent tow company. They will resort to a collection agency to get their money, which will hurt her credit when buying another vehicle and may even limit her employment opportunities.

the lady with the 11 tickets is not going to learn any valid life lesson by letting her away with not having to pay the fines. this is most certainly not the first time she has got away Scott free with a responsibility that she needs to follow through on. for the first time i really must disagree with Judge Caprio on this judgement. At least a payment plan over 6 months would have proved her worth. This judgement in particular only reinforces that the courts will take from the middle income worker but not from the top or bottom of society.

she's being charge $100 and is going to have to deal with the Tow Company in some fashion most likely. The judge isn't a fool like most people here and realizes that charging her an exorbitant amount of money on top of what she will likely have to pay out of court won't benefit her in any economic or educational fashion.

she specifically said that she WANTS to get a new car, not that she has the money to get a new car currently. She has already secured employment but the job training (and thus, her income) does not start yet. I don't understand why people have been having such a hard time simply watching the video.
