So, if it’s not tolerated then WHY DID YOU WAIT UNTIL THERE WAS A VERDICT. Now if they would’ve came back GUILTY. Would you have even done anything. He should’ve been fired as soon as it came out.
The problem is MSP and MA lawmakers will point to Proctor and say 'See, we got the bad apple...'. Then do nothing else about the entire system that is corrupt. Its NOT just him. Mawn is corrupt. ALL LE in MA are corrupt.
His supervisors, Tully and Bukake, knew about his bad behavior b/c they were in a group chat with him. He was the lead investigator on another current case. Continuously monitoring the trial means that if Karen had been found guilty, it would have been business as usual.
Nothing is going to happen to any of them. Proctor will be quietly transferred to a new elite unit, with a new sert team. Crooked, Corrupt Canton will go on.
Restoring community trust? Then investigate Proctor's supervisors, Tully and Bukenik, who allowed and even encouraged Proctor's corrupt behavior. Otherwise Proctor is just a fall guy.
Don't forget that a few years ago the ENTIRE Troop E was shut down and disbanded for pervasive and frequent over time fraud from the top down. They were collecting pay and overtime for hours that news reporters had them on camera in Pajamas taking out their trash!!!

@Johnnyjonas274 Canton's current town by-law can't initiate a petition to re-call his election as it is passed a certain day. I believe it is within 35 days of an election. Why no one in Canton initiated this during that time period is a good question. For a special removal of CA as selectman, I think it would be up to a Select Board vote to remove him from his seat. I don't know if that Select Board would do that. If protesters continue to disrupt public speak of Select Board meetings, they may eventually decide that this disruption is not in the best interest of conducting town business.
@@jh9992 hopefully they keep up the pressure like during the last meeting. He should do the right thing and step down, but probably too selfish to do that. The ones who kept voting this guy in when he killed someone and took off is beyond me.
Word of the day: Hyperfocused. He just presented a word salad. Said a lot of nothing. Proctor should be fired, not rehomed. Others should be FIRED too.. Buka.. Paul... All of these "Officers" have made your state police look like complete bafoons. It's a Clown show in Mass.
Tr Paul was just a puppet. They used him and embarrassed him. You can bet he will be getting better training after this, and wont blindly follow orders again. I dont think hes a bad cop, just untrained and not bright.
He did some “corporate talk” but I felt he was sincere. He has to follow the process laid out in the union contract both for Proctor and anyone else involved in the case.
A lot of people are getting the idea that the "transfer" language means they are just sending Proctor to another post and that's it. That's not it. There is a process involved in terminating a Mass State Police and it is NOT immediate. MSP are union. The union and MSP have an agreement that if an MSP is relieved of duty at one post, they will be transferred to another post to work temporarily. They work at that other post/district until a duty status hearing takes place. At that status hearing, they will decide the disciplinary action they will take. They can A- Keep him on with pay B-Put him on restricted duty C-Suspend him with pay D- Suspend him without pay. I do not know if they have set a date for the hearing. In most cases, the union will hire an attorney to defend him.
The DA's office is just as culpable. More, in fact. The State better be coming down on that office, not waiting on the feds. The feds can take the second shot. But the DA's office as a whole is corrupt and complicit. These are longstanding patterns of widespread, commonplace corrupt investigations and prosecutions, as well as both of those as it pertains to protecting coming LEO'S. Disgusting.
So, who would you suggest? The FBI, the doj? Both of these departments are not trust worthy on anything. Both directors of the FBI and doj are liars if you haven’t seen them in the congressional hearings, I would hope you know this.
Locking Karen up is on the way. She IS the hateful killer. No other way to explain her insane abnormality that night. She counted John exposure in cold without coat as a punish that is why she asked Jennifer to Google. She risked john's Life for her rage. This damn dangerous woman deserves the highest conviction under the law.
Why did it take over a year to conplete an IA investigation? Knowing all you knew about this corrupt cop, you still sat by and let the trial play out with the possibility of an innocent woman going to jail.
Every case that this trooper touched is tainted, and the MSP has suffered irreparable damage due to his bad decisions and the poor decisions of his supervisors. Shame!
Exactly! He wouldn't have felt comfortable texting the vile things he did if it was frowned upon by his supervisors. This tells me that the culture within this agency is less than professional and ethical.
For those of you not following the trial, he used the terms he did in a group chat with his boss and fellow officers while they asked him if he found undressed photos of Karen Read on her phone that was in evidence. It’s clear the whole department is garbage and promotes that kind of behavior.
That was Trooper Proctor and a Canton police officer (an Albert). So this guy isn't the boss of the Canton cop. Officer Albert needs to be fired for his actions you're referring to.
This is Massachusetts… MSP Colonel, DA Morrisey, Canton selectman John Connelly have zero self control. Does the Colonel look like he could run across the street? They all eat and drink away the taxpayers $. Sad.
With how freely Proctor was speaking in text, it's a guarantee that he's not the only corrupt one. They have just been getting away with it for a very long time
Why now? Clean the house, he didn’t acted alone. This feels like if they would have been able to “pin it on the girl”, nothing would have happened. They waited to say something after the mistrial. Respect the trial process sounds like a joke, so allow a person to go through that anguish, spend so much in defense, tax dollars used in that circus, when they could have been open and say the investigation didn’t fulfill protocol since the beginning.
Crude texts aside, what is MSP doing to improve their accident reconstruction training, policies and procedures? Trooper Paul has to be the worst expert witness ever. I think the defense did not object to his testimony because he was so woefully inept, uneducated and unprofessional.
He also has to be accountable. He impersonated knowledge he clearly doesn’t have, with the purpose of convicting a woman. That is also planting evidence.
@@Barb417 I haven't seen a shred of actual evidence that tied her directly to his death. Pieces of tail light that miraculously broke several times in evidence, the lack of a proper crime scene, the expert witnesses who stated it wasn't possible for O'Keefe to have died from a car accident, nor to have died from getting hit by a very precise part of her car in those conditions all prove it wasn't death by Karen Read. More happened here but the State Police and DA's Office aren't willing to uncover the truth because it will bloody their department and office more than they already are at this time. The real victims here besides John O'Keefe are his niece and nephew who have lost yet another parent.
"This is totally normal for us. I condemn these commets only because you found out. We are doing our best to get this trooper retired with full benefits as soon as possible"
Gotta love it. We will not tolerate any misconduct which is why we will not fire Michael proctor and instead assign him to a brand new department where no one knows of his previous misconduct.
All incidents like this require labor law considerations that ensure due process steps for employees. Any violation of labor laws could make it harder if not impossible to get rid of him.
They are absolutely reflective of the Mass state police. There was more than one cop in the chats and it was all accepted. That is a culture of this behavior
Watched trial from Montana. Way too much reasonable doubt to convict KR. And Lally said he is going to retry her! WTH. Math and physics don't lie, but the witnesses for the Commonwealth sure did.
The state police are only doing this because this became widely public. It’s obvious that Procter was encouraged by coworkers and bosses. He’s just the sacrifice.
‘We monitored the trial’ but let the sham continue until we were fully exposed to the light of public scrutiny….and it was then, and only then we began to respond to our crimes publicly.
Pretty sure this is not the first time he sent texts of that nature to his superiors without reprimand so what are they going to do to change the culture? Let me guess, throw Proctor under the bus and keep acting the way they always have.
@@NYC2023-du8mgSomeone was in the jury who had connections of some sort with the police! how else could they ignore the plow driver, dog marks and experts the FBI use?!
What, you're not buying what The Commonwealth, through Adam "Mumbles" Lally and Trooper "Crime Scene Whisperer" Paul, tried to sell the jury, that Karen Read backed her SUV up into John O'Keefe at 24 mph, striking him in the arm and catapulting him 10+ feet onto Brian Albert's lawn and that the cuts on John's arm were from a broken tail light and not, as they clearly seem to be, from dog bites and scratches? Shocking.
I speak police let me translate --- We knew for years how bad Procter was but now that it's been brought to national attention we have decided to finally do something about it to save face with the public. there's nothing to see here the rest of the force is 100% honest.
The only reason this happened, this case was nationally reported on - if it were a public defender and she were poor - all the manufactured evidence - the texts and unprofessional behaviors and attitudes in the culture of the Dept. wouldn't have been exposed nationally. The Trooper and DA would have gotten a Atta Boy and onto the next case.
Proctor and his supervisor showed unprofessional conduct! Drinking on job while operating a state vehicle should have been enough along with the texts!!
In other words he really means. We were hoping this trial would not be a National event. Therefore we did nothing. Now we are forced to cover our tails and investigate ourselves.
What you need is an outside agency to have full access to the State Police to monitor and audit the Mass State Police. I respect the police - I really do - but the bad apples have to be weeded out because it puts a stain on every trooper and that's not right!
Typical political non-statement (BS). There are way deeper problems than Proctor in the MPD. None of his superiors in those text threads made any attempt to correct his conduct or behaviour in those messages. That's culture. Root and branch clean out.
I agree he needs to be fired, but they can't fire him immediately. There's a process. This explains it well: A lot of people are getting the idea that the "transfer" language means they are just sending Proctor to another post and that's it. That's not it. Smoke and mirrors. They knew about this and did nothing until after the trial. They didn't fire home. They rehomed him and he still gets his full salary and pension.
Mawn needs to be fired along with Proctor. The entire State Police system needs to be torn down and rebuilt with someone from the outside taking over to make sure it's not the same old song and dance. Enough with the scandals, enough of these meaningless speeches from Mawn declaring things are going to change. Healey Needs to actually stay put in the state she claims to govern and do her job. She's jetting around the globe on her self promotion tours while the state police once again looks like a clown show.
Bring a leader that has a proven track record of cleaning up! This goes beyond MPD to BPD and Canton PD as well as DA's office. The entire system is rotten.
