I'm someone a bit more cautious about Mirabel becoming the head of the family after Abuela. Hopefully, it doesn't happen until Mirabel reaches adulthood and has had some time to pursue her own interests. If anyone asks, I feel this way after reading discussion about another another teenager who had to be the main moral support of the family and how it likely affected him for the worse.
Besides, Abuela is only like 70 something and with Julieta (I think that was her name) her healing powers it’s highly possible that abuela will live a long life
Yeah I kind of feel like the concept of a "head of the family" might've been another thing the Madrigals needed to move past. It's normal for kids to listen to their elders to some degree but when a family dynamic shifts into a hierarchy it's hard for people to communicate as equals. The Encanto as a whole would probably need a new leader if Abuela passed away or retired (she seems to basically serve as the town's mayor) and I could definitely see Mirabel growing into that role if she wanted to, but I don't think the Madrigal family itself needs a head.
i think her healing power only works on injuries, i dont think it can stop you from ,having a heart attack@@lukaseldenrust2637 the body naturally gets weaker as it gets older
I love this so much! It's tragic to think about Abuela passing on and Mirabel's expectations of becoming the next head of the family kinda like Louisa and Isabella's expectations as well. And bringing in "Waiting On A Miracle" was a great touch.
I mean, I agree its obvious the reason she didnt get a "gift" is because she can take it until the current holder is gone. She will take her grandmother's place as the head of household and the manifester of the gift itself, without the head of the family their is no family gift. She is the source and one day her light will go out, so the candle needs a new life to take it on. Its a metaphor made literal in that the torch is passed from one generation to the next.

This is amazing as every other song and we're not even gonna talk about your voice. The voice is so amazing the lyric match and everything feels like it could fit a Encanto 2
Love this, this movie has a soft spot for my friends and I. We had to be far from our families and we each had to deal with being away from them... We watched the movie together and during that time, in a way, we also became family to each other. So, hearing this song is beautiful to me. Not only the meaning but for what it means to us. Ahhh I'm going to send them the link rn. Geez, I'm getting teary-eyed.
