I had been in England a couple of years before when the Police were breaking out... and then when Songs From the Big Chair came out I was blown away. My first car was a 1967 Chevrolet Bel Air, and I got it in 1975. The radio in that car was turned on when I got in it, and from then until about 2000 in that and every other car I owned the radios were never turned off. During those years, first AM then FM radio was a gold mine of music. Innovative, crammed with talent and a pure love for the medium, it was all good. Oldies, new stuff, always great. The last couple of decades, either oldie stations or the Ipod. But this song is just a sample of what was commonplace from the 70's until the millennium. I didn't know how good we had it then.

I also had a 67 Chevy but mine was a Biscayne, straight 6 and 3 on the tree. I agree about the radio always on and the plethora of good music available to us in those years.

@@AnthonyT50 Those big Chevys were sweet cars, mine had a powerglide with a 283 manual brakes and steering. You could carry an entire baseball team inside one of them, they were huge! That 283 looked like a hamster cage in that enormous engine bay, I'd love to see what a straight six looked like in there!

So true about radio. Hard to believe I never listen to any radio now. Taped Steely Dan's Aja album from an FM midnight radio show called "Record a Record" on my portable cassette player back in the 70's, along with many others. A magical time for music.

@@corbinhbucknerjr558 There would have been room to put a 3/4 bath in that engine bay. The st8 six took very little room.

As others said, "Songs from the Big Chair", "Seeds of Love" and "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending" all are full-album quality offerings. Beatles/Floyd-level writing and production quality.
