Head to Head: Panasonic GH4 vs. Sony a7S 

Ok my mind is set. I want a Panasony GH7s...!

Looked at both of these and got the new Sony PXW-X70. If your main focus is video, a camcorder might be your best option. DSLR/Mirrorless video is still young and although the bokeh and low light performance is great. You're going to spend thousands more getting a rig, follow focus, monitor, speedbooster, XLR audio and more. Do your research.

Great review, we looked at both, while we love the low light performance of the A7S, the GH4 we figured would be better for fast moving sports and we are happy with it. We shoot on-ice hockey videos, this video is from a GH4 mounted on a DJI Ronin in a low light arena. We think its delivering good value for the money. She said "15 stops of dynamic range" for a7s, but all tests over internet showed that its not true... Thats just what Sony says in the description. The dynamic range from a7s is pretty much the same on the gh4... Around 12,5 stops...

a7s can retain 15stop dynamic range in video mode? I know that is for raw still. Usually in video mode it is not the same unless you shoot raw video. Usually it is a lot less. If it can retain 12stops in video mode, I would be really happy. That will be on par with c100 c-log.

This women literally has no idea what she is talking about. For a starters you can record 25p/24p/30 in crop sensor mode it doesn't have to be 60p. Also if you really want to reduce wobble in full frame buy an OS lens it helps a ridiculous amount (to the point where it's not really an issue most of the time) Also bit rate really isn't as important as bit depth when it comes to colour grading. "The a7s has most of the adjustments made on the camera body, this may be a little more challanging if your working in a fast paced environment." - This has got to be the single most stupid thing I've ever heard. When did having a physical button for something become a drawback, as opposed to fiddling with touch screen.... really? To sum it up though, if you can't afford to gear our an a7s, buy a gh4.

And now theirs a new cheaper 4K camera on the market... The GoPro Hero4 black. It'll be good to get a comparison soon
