SCOPE ALIGNMENT UPDATE! - I had the time today to put an un-shimmed scope on the avenger in this video after I had cleaned and reattached the rail. Unfortunately, my results were similar to when I first started. With the scope optically centered I'm hitting about 18" low at 30 yards. It may be a little better than before, but I still can't bring the shot "up" enough to be on target. Shims or fully adjustable mounts are the only solutions next to returning the rifle for one that does not have the issue. Cheers AGW

Hey Rick I don't know if you will see this in time but I pre ordered a gauntlet 2, and I love using hand pumps, keeps me in shape and free air for the taking hahaha. But with the gauntlet 2 being a 4500psi gun can I use a 4500psi rated pump or will I need a bigger 6000psi pump?

Saber tactical has new rails for the avenger I had the same issue changed the rails for the Saber tactical ones and solved all my problems

So glad you mentioned the scope inserts. I had that exact problem with my Hawke Optics, just couldn’t adjust enough. I thought something was wrong with my gun. I ordered the inserts right away. Thanks a bunch for the insight.

No doubt the G2 is the gun for long range gun for power and accuracy both sent a flyer and the avenger is smoother operation with side lever and 2 stage trigger where the g2 has a single stage that would make it more consistent both guns are amazing I owe the wood stock avenger love it and the gauntlet g1 in 25 love it too both are great guns that shoot as well as higher priced guns great job Rick as always another fantastic video

The Avenger has the adjustable reg. And hammer spring. So way more options for different ammo from lighter pellets to heavy slugs. More flexibility. As far as the barrel drop on the Avenger, I'd but the donnyfl adapter which goes over the barrel and supports and centers the barrel.

I had the same problem with my Advenger with the scope mounting and I’ve heard of other people having the same issues. I used FX no limit scope rings to fix mine.

Great fair comparison Rick! One of your best. Very nice to see and definitely like the Vs or comparison reviews of equally priced air rifles or other items. No matter what the features are the reviewed items they have to be similarly priced! I'm still hoping the $200 multi-shot .22 cal break barrel comparison between Crosman, Gamo, and Umarex is in the works? Maybe one of your subscribers can provide the missing Crosman rifle for the review?. I see the Ultra for sale online at other websites from $180 to $240.

Got an avenger .25 synthetic stock on layaway at my local shop. Waiting on the tax free weekend in September. Gonna get it for $349.99 without tax. Hope it's as accurate as my huma regulated Hatsan Flash at 50 yds. My flash is pellet on pellet at 50. We take used 3a batteries lay them on their side and shoot the end of them. The 3a batteries are .400 inch in diameter.

Well, I have to say? The optimizer from hha sports works better the FX scope mounts/ rings and you can keep track of the yards back and forth

I have the .177 Avenger and love it but it does require 1 complete turn and them some of my elevation turret to zero the scope at 20 yards. Since a lot of customers are experiencing this problem I would think Air Venture would be anxious to determine the problem so that we can fix it. New rails or whatever is needed. It is a shame that a gun this good should have such a minor problem. I love mine and accuracy when the scope is zeroed is phenomenal. I have the plastic stock and think it is great. No warpage or nicks or scratches. No gripes here.

Took my avenger 25 caliber squirrel hunting one damp morning and come home with 10 squirrels which is the limit within a few hours. I also have the gauntlet 1also !

My wood stock Avenger had the same issue. I ran out of up in my scope and had to shim. Several others have said the same thing so it is not just your gun

On some of the Avengers, there is an increase from 2400-2900 psi on the regulator, mine does, it's a kind of roll of the dice, hell Rick, I remember the very first avenger you reviewed and it got up to 64fpe, so how do you explain that?

I ended up returning the air venturi avenger in wood 4 shims to get the gun to hit target and the elevation was maxed out (ran out of clicks) cleaned the rail under mount too and still same issues. For mine the barrel was shooting downwards…Thinking of switching to the Benjamin Marauder .25 any thoughts on this gun? It’s a cross man barrel wish it was the WL barrel though lol

I think the one flyer at 100 yards just could’ve been that Rick said he did too off the gauntlet before the 100 yard test and it was the first shot so maybe that super high pressure made it a little hot? But nevertheless it’s a bad boy as is the Avenger 0-50 both are excellent long range the gauntlet has the edge and Rick does a great job at showing you what both guns are capable of for sure.

Hey Rick little late on the view but I would love to see these shims as I usually fudge a playing card strip.Ive finally ordered some adjustable rings and a 20/25 moa dovetail to picatiny rail.

For those having the same "barrel droop" issue. After talking with Air Venturi on this problem, they advised me to remove the rail and see if there was any flashing or other materials preventing the rails from sitting flush to the receiver. I pulled my rails and cleaned the area. It seems to "lock-in" better than it was and may be more in line than from the factory. I've not tested the results yet, I hope to test them this week and will post my findings on www.GatewaytoAirguns.org and also www.AirgunArmy.com as well as our other social media pages. I doubt that the barrel is the issue. It's more likely the rail system. It's an easy fix for those willing to use adjustable mounts and/or the Hawke Shims, but it's one that really shouldn't exist on a gun like the Avenger. Pulling and cleaning the rail area may also resolve the problem. Regardless, contacting Air Venturi directly about the issue will help them resolve any problems with the manufacturer. Cheers AGW

@@AirGunWeb I worked on mine after I had gotten my Fx no limit scope mounts to try to figure out what the issue was. I recently bought I new Element scope and I wanted make sure the rings were lining up properly so not to damage the scope. From what I found is that the rear scope mount rail not only tilts back at a lower angle it also is tilts to the right which wouldn’t be good for the scope. What I found I believe is the scope rails are not molded correctly. There was no flashing under the rails on my rifle. The rails are just not true. I ended up filling mostly on the rear rail to get it squared up with the front rail. It’s still not perfect but it’s a lot closer than it was. It’s something that Air Venturi needs to fix. I’m guessing it’s not every rifle that is coming out with this issue but I do know other people are having this problem with their rifles. Other than this issue that I’ve had with my Advenger .22 it’s a great gun for the money. It’s very accurate and fun to shoot. I have gotten dime size groups at 50 yards with it using JSB Hades. It also shoots slugs well.

i must have both the avenger and the g2. my avenger will be jealous for a few days when the g2 gets here but rest assured they will both get plenty of use. i plan to keep my avenger tuned at a lower velocity to punch the smallgame thc garden destructors and the g2 will be tuned for medium game. anything that can survive the g2 will be met by the tx2 valve

I have both the avengers, 22 and 25, and my 25 cal gets 32 - 36 shots with the reg set at 2500 and the hammer 3/4 turn from max and shooting 28 grain pellets @ 915-922 FPS. (thats 4 and a half mags). My 22 cal will get 5 mags (50 shots with the reg set at 2300 and the hammer spring set 1 and a half turn from max and 950-959 FPS, shooting 18 grain pellets. I guess I got lucky with my two avengers. And yes at 65 yrds and in they are dead accurate. My ammo I use are the H&N hunters, terminators, and Hades in 22 cal. and in 25 cal the H&N Hunters extreme, the hunters and the Hades. They will shoot the H&N 217/218, 21 grains slugs great also. In 25, the H&N Grizzly slugs shoot great. My personal reason I would chose the avenger is because you can adjust the power, using the reg pressure and the hammer spring. The gaunlet gets more shots, but the avenger has more power

I have seen some other people who had the same problem with the wood stock Avenger. I would like to know more about why the scope is running out of adjustment. Is it the rail, or the barrel? Either way it seems to be an easy fix. Both of these rifles are awesome. I prefer the Avenger for carrying in the woods and the Gauntlet for anything off a bench. I did try different scopes, I even took the scope off of my original avenger and tried that on the wood avenger and got the same result running out of turret clicks and it wasn't even close.i had a extra set of fx no limit scope rings and put those on which fixed the problem. just shouldn't have to do all that with any gun no matter the price

@@AirGunWeb Hi Rick. I was talking about the slightly more powerful G2 (That's what you said in the part 1 anyway.) Also, I realize I didn't catch what gauge these were, but I've heard guys have hunted deer and wild pigs at closer range with the 25 gauge, similar to what you can do with bow hunting. I'm just starting to learn about all of this...complete novice. So at this point I'm just reading a lot and watching a lot of content. Pretty sure I want to go with an air gun though. I will mostly be hunting smaller game (wild turkey, rabbits, etc), but want something that once I've developed reliable accuracy and hunting skills I can humanely take a deer with. What air rifle (if any) would you recommend for hunting a deer or even an elk? Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to these extreme novice questions!

@@carolewarner101 - Hey there.. you should join us LIVE on Tuesday Nights for "Let's Talk Airguns." You can ask your questions live and get an answer from myself or Angie. If you want to hunt deer, check your local laws so see if they have any guidelines. I recommend .35 cal and upwards with a minimum of 250 foot-pounds.. The general rule of thumb that I recommend for hunting game animals is to go 2 to 1 power to weight ratio. So if your deer are about 150 pounds, then look for an airgun that can do 300+ foot-pounds. Angie has taken a lot of deer and other animals with her airguns. She'd be a good one to really dive in and help with this topic. Cheers AGW

Thank you for the video it might be in part 1 but was the reg settings the same and the air pressure the same at each test yardage and the fps just wondering my 65 yard target is tight with the JSB 25.39 now I'm curious what will happen at 100 yards thanks again for your time and information, you produce informative videos

The G2 settings are "locked" from the factory.. on the Avenger, I tuned the reg before we did any tests. We ran it at 2400 psi which seems to be the max that delivers any noticeable increase in power. Once setup, we did not change the settings for either gun. cheers AGW

I would not call either "pump friendly" but the Avenger is more pump friendly than the G2 for sure. Pumping the G2 to 4500 with that large bottle would not be a fun time. cheers AGW

If you're going to do a "head to head", under the premise of trying to keep things as "simular" as possible, why not just hold "dead center", allow the viewer to see the difference in "drop" (will not effect "group size"), but the drop can be visually apparent. Of all the things you compared between the two guns, THIS was the biggest difference ...and you "compensated" for it. (You shouldn't have ..IMO)

it blows my mind that some people think they can put a low profile scope mount on any rail and think it will be a perfect fit..rick i love what you do at agw and your videos but you are wrong to say that this is a problem with the manufacturers ..this is not a manufacturing tolerance issue its quite simply the rail height and how your cheek sits on the stock as well as the way you shoulder the rifle that determines what size mounts to use..when you use the right tools for the right jobs you would be surprised how well things go. i like to have mounts in virtually every size for each scope i own to be able to change out and adjust for the extreme drop of elr shooting if necessary. these mounts are inexpensive there is literally no reason for anyone that can afford 400$ pcps to say that can not fit it in their budget.

In this case, I'm going to respectfully disagree with your assessment as well as with others that have suggested "higher" mounts would have solved the problem. I've used the same scope and mounts on a different Avenger wood stock in both .22 and .25.. no issues. (those guns went out to customers or returned back to PA after the Airgun Expo and prior to this video) This is a rail alignment problem (most likely) OR a barrel alignment problem in the breach, which I don't think it is. Also, I did not use "low profile" mounts. They are medium mounts. I've seen this with both the .22 and the .25 avengers. It varies from gun to gun with some having no issue, while others have more. It's not a scope height or cheek alignment issue when you are shooting 2' low at 30 yards and can't bring the shot up to zero. That's a manufacturing flaw period. One that can be overcome, but a flaw nonetheless. I've got 15 years under my belt reviewing and working with airguns in this capacity (much longer when you add in firearms). I'm not saying that I can't make mistakes, far from it, but this isn't one of them. Cheers AGW

This is a biased review. First of all you never really say in any of these head-to-heads which one you would buy over the other. A head-to-head has to have a winner and a loser otherwise this is just a review of two different guns which you already have a review on each one singly. Second of all that Gauntlet 2 is an absolute Powerhouse shooting jsb pellets at 840 is not necessarily what I feel that gun was designed to do. On the Generation 1 version the regulator puts out 1900 PSI. On the gen2 I think it's 2200. At 1900 psi in gen 1 it would shoot those pellets at 900 fps. The gen 2 is probably capable of 950 or more. Do a second review where you shoot 40 grain slugs out of both over a crony and for accuracy. Why not give a review using the Amo that each gone likes to use but also in the other gone as well. You would probably find the Avenger shooting better with the pellets and The Gauntlet shooting better with the Slugs. You only gave half the story on this one

@@edgarlombera7066 that barrel is str8 as an arrow, if the inner barrel was "drooped downward" the pellets would be impacting the endcap as the inner barrel stops a good 6 inches from the end of the shroud. and its nice to see at least one other person here with a functioning brain @Robair

What do you think the problem is with some Avengers? I have heard several people who had to purchase adjustable rings. But others seem fine. Do you think its the scope rail?

"Where we tell you the Facts Not Fluff." I've watched a lot of your comparison videos and it seems to be "ALL FLUFF! ". People watch comparison reviews to help them decide by hearing "Your Honest Opinion" as an experienced shooter. Not to hear their equal. Because they are clearly not! And each one of the videos I've watched from you never has a clear winner. In this video , with all results almost equal , a higher capacity tank for more shots , 3 times higher than the Avenger, would be the clear winner. But you don't say that. It's getting to the point to when I see a Review from you I already know what the end result is going to be.Just like watching a commercial for that product.

So you miss the point of "facts not fluff." If shot count and raw power are what you are looking for, then the gauntlet is the right choice. But, if adjustability and ease of use, i.e. side lever vs bolt, then the avenger may be the better option. It's not my job to tell you which one to buy. Rather give the raw data and let you all make up your mind. Now if the accuracy and power variances were dramatically different it would be a completely different story. But they really weren't. So it's up to the consumer, who knows better what he or she wants than I do, to take the raw numbers and make an informed decision. I get you may not agree.. that's fine.. I'm glad you watched anyway. Cheers AGW
