Just installed some on my 03 350z. You made it look way to easy lol. Took me a long long time lol but thank you very much for this video. It did help me a lot. Good video!
Yo man, on the bottom right of your front bumper there's a plastic wall that can be removed/ripped out under your headlight. After this you can remove the factory plastic "jug" located directly below your air filter. Then I just bought some "4in dust collector hose" I recommend 3" and an attachment you can bolt to the lower aluminum part of the bumper..like an air catch that is behind the bottom slots of your front bumper. Then run the hose to the right and up directly below your air filter. After I did this it greatly improved throttle response and it feels like my torque increased. Hope it helps! I can make a short vid showing if you want. Also, I was going to make a heat shield but it's a super awkward space, so definitely make a video on it...maybe even throw out some measurements 😉
Nice job. Did the exact same way I did over the winter. Didnt have to drop the subframe or nothing. Unfortunately mine did rub the steering shaft but a hammer took care of that. Nice job
@@JamesDguy for sure, I knew it could be done with out doing so, if anyone looked underneath they can clearly see all the room there is to drop them in and out
Good video but you don't need to remove the fuel pressure regulator or the evap hose ... Also remind everyone about the steering knuckle u joint and not to turn that wheel or you're going to the dealer to have the steering angle sensor reset also with a swivel head socket you don't need to pull the water pipe on the driver's side if you have patience... Was not a fun job either way to do it but well worth the sound and extra torque
Cory Brown For now just shooting for more HP no specific goal as of right now. But once I build the engine and turbo it I am shooting for 700whp but it will be turbo by that time.
unstablebobgable I love doing these videos I just wish people would start noticing the effort I put into them :/ I appreciate the people like you who actually appreciate what I do.
Z33 Garage Thanks! I know about the gold tape I have done tests on my hondata with my Honda back in day and the heat wrap worked pretty good compared to heat deflection tape by 3 degrees. I had both and did test with both. They were true cold air intakes went to the bumper & temps were the same on both days and the heat wrap kept it a constant temp inside I believe it was 80 degrees in the pipe using the heat tape and I did 3 pulls from 40-120 it went up to 95. Did the test with header wrap just like the heat deflection tape and the overall temp was 92 after the pulls I’m guessing since it was trapped in it stayed more constant and didn’t wanna go up I even did a few more pulls after it never went up and it was a hott ass day. It has worked well for me in the past only reason I still do it. Might have to re do the test and record it :)
@@JamesDguy I would be interested to see a similar test on the VQ. Ive seen threads on my350 showing temps and they pretty much show the intake just heatsoaks. : / I was thinking of wrapping my momentum performance intake with goldwrap but I like the wrinkle black too much.
Use the seat belt and tighten it the steering wheel it will keep it in place vs a mark that might turn around and line up wrong either way … sick install video
Also make sure you get a tune, cause this will 100% lean the engine out, as well as you don't really see power unless you tune after your breathing mods.
Z33 Garage Yea I felt it make a difference in midrange top end and I can tell it’s running more lean I can smell the difference. The tune is next on my list of expensive things to get done lol. I’m a cheap ass so $500-700 is a lot to me lol. But it will 100% get done probably by admin tune or Agn in Texas
Z33 Garage It’s not able to be done since it’s auto 2003 sedan unless I send the ecu off to nisformance.com. Once I manual swap the G it will be perfectly fine with a uprev tune
Took me 3 days. Installed the stillen headers. Failed to mention that when u take the steering column off and put it back on u will have to get the steering angle sensor reset. Also don’t use a swivel u can get a long extension and get it front infront. Also really bleed your coolant good. Took me a whole day jus to do that.
Did you get these from dynamic tuning? I just followed this and first of all, you made this look WAY too easy, secondly I tried putting the new headers in but the holes where the screws go in were way too small to fit so I got a grinder and have been trying to widen them
I feel u bro but it’s better not to cheap out on the headers I have the same problem now I have an exhaust leak on my passenger headers, if it helps u can use a 1/4 deep socket and take the bolts out
I'm having trouble with the 12mm bolt under the water pipe on the passenger side. I've tried a swivel socket and crescent wrench from on top and underneath, I just can't get it. Any advice or help?
@@JamesDguy I'd prefer not to as well but I think it makes it easier for the long tubes, I'll try without first. But this video is brilliant, it shows exactly what we need to do without fluff! 👍😎👍
Sounds great! Do you have a resonator or is it straight piped to the exhaust at the end? Btw best install video. I saw someone removing the subframe and rack and pinion to put the headers on, smh.
It has 2 resonators built into the manzo cat back but otherwise no. I will be getting resonated Test pipes soon so it will sound even more cleaned up. I too have seen the removing subframe and that's WAY more work than i wanted to do just to upgrade headers. That was my main goal with this video is to help people see you don't have to remove it.
@@JamesDguy thanks man. I have the isr 350z exhaust on mine. The mid pipe is resonated. Has a deep sound and sounds good but not screaming like yours. Maybe i need test pipes or high flow cats. I have headers i haven't installed yet. Where did you get the heat wrap from?
You ever thought about putting Tinted Headlights in it would look so sweet I found some for my car on E Bay pretty cheap too but you could wrap them too for about 7 -8 dollars
Why so Serious? Not everywhere has the same laws but yea my lenses are DOT approved smoked tint but I cracked the cases open then painted the chrome areas yellow to give the lights a amber look while driving yet using stock bulbs. It looks beast and they can’t fuck with me
@@JamesDguy Awesome only tail lights are illegal in Arizona said something about at least one must show red wondering if I put one of those third brake lights that is red if I could get away with it doing brake lights too but that one
My headers did not clear 1 bolt on each side where I wasnt able to put a nut to tighten them. Due to the piping being in the way. Would you consider that okay? Because I dont hear no leaks but I dont want any issues down the road. Car sounds completely different. I have some randome Ebay headers motordyne art pipes Z1 y-pipe tomei exhaust. Very loud no drone but it does have a deeper sound and pops alot I have an 06 350z
Storman Gorman I didn’t have a check engine light after. I have the o2 sensor extensions where the cats go and it didn’t come on after. Getting a tune helps a lot but I never got one.
Big thing you left out (unless it's later in the video): DO NOT let that steering column turn on its own. It could break the clockspring on the steering wheel. You did mark it so it's probably fine but I usually also zip tie it or secure the steering wheel somehow just so you don't bump it
This is a great vid but with patience you don’t have to remove all of those hoses on the driver side. I just did every bolt on the driver side. Only thing I removed was my intake. And this job is more than time consuming it’s a pita😂😂
Hey did absolutely everything but the steering rack however on mine was to difficult to remove to I managed to fit the driver side header from above by taking out a few ac components however the rack is now rubbing against the header and I need to move the rack to bang out the header out of it's way, because I sure as hell wont be removing the header again to do this. Any specific instructions on moving the rack, your video made it look far to easy.
Jose Maldonado Sorry I didn’t have this issue. I’m sorry I didn’t get the best video on the rack I apologize for that. I would say maybe grind down the steering arm but that might be sketchy. If you would have to remove the header and dent it? I didn’t have this issue.
Hey buddy, I have a VQ35DE in my Altima Coupe so I was hoping maybe you can relate and help. I have a y pipe and straight pipe from the cats to the back. I have been yearning to install these headers I bought for it but have been hearing that if I DONT get a tune, I will ruin my car due to a lean condition. Is this true? Can’t the car’s ecu adjust? Or is a tune really that necessary. Please help!
Richard Sharma I have heard this too but I put over 1500 miles on mine so far no bad results. I use 91 octane have a intake spacer with full free flow exhaust and aftermarket intake system. Running the cheap cheap NGK plugs. I’m sure it’s not great to beat on it like I do but I just made a trip from Kansas to texas and back 2 times with no negative side effects. It’s been running great! I strongly recommends tune though. The 2003 auto g35 can’t be dyno tuned only a basemap mail order reflash so that’s why I haven’t done mine yet
Moore Motorsports James Dguy thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it man. I do get on my car probably 40% out of 100% of my driving because it’s a 6 speed manual and it’s just so zippy, also this is my weekend car it is not driven daily and only has about 65,000 miles. But it would make me nervous as hell to run something that is a mystery in itself hurting such a young and capable car. Thank you for clearing this up for me!
I can not get my steering shaft to slide off. The yoke wont budge. I have just the front of the car raised. Because I'm on a slanted driveway. I've tried turning the wheel every which way and lower and rasing the car at different heights. Any suggestions.
David Merrill spray a fluid penetrant and let it soak in then you should be able to slowly budge it free. Hope that made sense i suck at explaining stuff
@@JamesDguy I finally got it off. The next problem is. My Megan headers sit a paper thickness from the steering shaft. Is that to close and how close were yours. Thanks for the responses!!!
@@tabshaikh7646 had to take a screwdriver and bend were it claps on the shaft and some lube. Had to pull real hard to get it off the first time. Rusted on a little. Now it's no problem getting off
So I noticed that you didn’t play with the ac pulleys?!?!?! Is that nesseary! Or as long as you remove that water pipe your fine... I have a 350Z and noticed a lot of people mess with the ac
Moore Motorsports James Dguy now is this different from the 350Z trying to unconfuse my self haha because this video gives me more confidence to do it myself! Just trying to see about the ac part or maybe it’s because this is a g35? Idk haha
Coda5610 It really does. I think it needs a little less rasp but the test pipes I’m buying should fix that. They have resonators in them and the ones I have don’t have them.
Wrapping the intake with header wrap is a bad idea. Header wrap is meant to keep heat in the header for better scavenging so using it on the intake it will get hot from the exhaust and simply hold heat. I use dei be cool heat reflective wrap. Its meant to reflect heat away. I have been using it on all my vehicles and it makes a difference. You can get it in gold or silver, I have wrapped my air intakes on my Evo x mr touring, my sti, and my tsx. I did a before and after and there was a noticeable difference in power and temp dropped. Heat soak is common on infiniti g35/350z so any type of temp reduction u can do makes a difference.
David Smith These were cheap eBay Megan raging or something they worked good though. Sold the car and they are still on it and the guy keeps in contact
