I’m so glad to have run across your channel. You have helped me solve problems in my processes. I have had success with headlight repair with other types of vehicles but VW is next level difficult. I will use kovax paper and your tips and I am now confident that I can finish the job. Thanks!
Phenomenal results! I do mobile restoration using 3M discs with cordless drill. Have you tried or do you like 3M sanding discs? Can you compound with wool pad and polish with foam pad on a cordless drill to get the same results (or similar)? Also how quickly does the ceramic dry and how long does it last? One day I plan to offer PPF as well but doing it outside may be tricky. Why does your process that 3 hours and why charge so little at 100 euros? I thought you’d charge way more..
I didn't think clearcoat with added UV protection was applied, What with 6 sanding steps?? When you only need 3, As in 3m headlight restoration kit!! There are to many flows in this stream I gave up!!?🤔 from now on I'll stick with The Headlight restoration pro!!! A true professional!!!🧐👍
Svaka čast💪🏽 Za poliranje, imam Sonax-ove paste... Od cut verzije pa do perfekt finish i Sonax-ovu za poliranje farova. Koju preporučuješ opciju??? Hvala doktore❤️💪🏽😁
very useful piece of advice! i am currently looking for an electric sander - specifically for headlights and taillights. would you suggest buying a smaller one (75mm plate) or going with the standard size (125mm plate). Most of the times, I am working with removed lights
I would advise not to do any restoration on tail lights? As the material is a lot different from polycarbonate front lights!! The Rear lights plastic is very brittle and liable to crack or break!! Moreover a wash down with soapy warm water is all that's needed!!!
Pozdrav, odličan i poučan video. Kada znamo da je fabrički sloj skinut kada na početku radimo sa granulacijom 180? Far mora cijeli biti onako matiran, obrušen?
Great patience and detailed work. But I may suggest you to not to leave headlight as is. You may apply 2K clear coat to protect from the sunlight and UV. And just want to ask you whether you tried to apply chloroform vapor in the end to get smooth and bright surface? It's one of the chemical components of polycarbon material, so it fixes the surface easily.
It can't, it's not good because the coating on the headlights rusts and then it looks even worse. There is on the channel that I did such headlight painting jobs
@@Amddetailing hmmm, strange because I watched too many videos about it and they had perfect results. But I'm not sure how long it lasts. By the way, you should apply a 2K clear coat after the chloroform vapor application. I'll watch your video regarding headlight painting.
@@tactlcal_bacon_bits47732k max should never be applied to headlights it's a nightmare to remove and quite possibly damage the polycarbonate lens permanently!!!
Veliki pozdrav tatragiču kao i uvijek top Video. Jesi li probo DAMPFEN poslije šlifanja. Kažu da je bolje nego poliranje jer daje 3-5 godina zaštitu . LP
Yes, these @kovax papers are a new sanding technology that is fast, safer and the finish is really amazing. The process of removing the bumper by sanding and putting it back takes 3 to 5 hours to do it right.
@@bartekoslizo7397 I use an electric Mirka machine and I make sure that my machine is always level with the headlight so that I don't tilt it, I constantly clean the dust from the paper and I have no problems
was wondering if I can get some advice. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Kt4L5KkhgsY.html This video shows my lamp that I somewhat restored today but there seems to be still alot of damage that I can't clear and it looks terrible. The video shows AFTER polishing but BEFORE the clear coat stage. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I think it might the damage is on the inside of light what do you think?
@@keithroberts5611 what are you talking about? it was just pitting. the problem was I didnt sand deep enough to completely get rid of the tiny pits. my headlights look great now.
Any headlights restoration video that completely removes the protective clear coat, and doesn’t tell you to respray a 2 stage 2K clear at the end is WRONG. Those temporary solutions such as ceramic or any other temporary coatings that comes with the cheap kits you buy, are NOT the proper way to provide a permanent UV protective shield for the plastic.
Also the electric sanding head is to big, Far better to use a 3inch dase plate!! Your choice of grit sizes to start with p180 far to savage? And could have damaged the polycarbonate lens permanently, The lowest ever grit size should be no lower than p320 max and that's removing thick old clearcoat such as 2k clearcoat which should never be used on headlights anyway,?In your procedure there was to many Unnecessary steps and time consuming IE part removal of front bumper?? I would strongly recommend anyone thinking of headlight restoration at home, Investing in a 3M headlight restoration kit which includes everything needed to make your headlights look new, The only additional tool is a Cordless variable speed drill!!! Follow the instructions to the letter, Its the only kit that uses the correct grit sizes that professionals use!!!🤔🇬🇧👍
I did 3M headlight restoration kit on e60 headlights... was a total fail for me. They do look beter but i think the coat is too hard. Investing in some more equipement to do the job and binging the channel of our Master brate at work !
Your suggestion of useing high grit sizes are you joking 🤣 How on earth can 1500 remove any surface oxidation, Fogging, spider cracking, Not to mention old cracking clearcoat,
Sorry but 3+ hours has to be economically unviable. What You should have d/a them with p180-320-600 or 240-500 followed by adhesion promoter and a coat of good 2k clear. Your method takes too long & in the end lacks meaningful UV protection - none of these detailer magic tricks ever last .
but that's why the headlights look like new for many years without matting and the like, and here in Bosnia I charge 150 euros or more for that job, and I think it's a great daily wage for a job of 3 hours
@@Amddetailing Not bad but I charge similar in an undisclosed ex-soviet country but it takes me up to 30-40 minutes usually leaving me able to earn from the next job while clear is drying. Also a good 2k clear lasts 10 years good as new, tested on my own old banger 😎
