Thanks, Daniel and Dina! I especially like the shots against white, and how you were able to talk to Dina in a way that got more expressions from her. Nice!

Definitely purple! Clamshell lighting on the white background looks really terrific for her, and women in general. Thank you Daniel and Dina!

Nicely done Daniel. I finally got the moonlight , and I have my speedlight as well so I’m looking forward to trying setups like this. I’ve also picked up how you guide the pose with your free hand in a lot of your videos. It’s all these tips and the way you communicate with your subject that is helping me along. Many thanks.!

I'm no expert but I have to say I like the white background. It seems to show off the color of her hair better. Just my opinion.

Hi, Daniel and Dina. The hair color comes close to fuschia. Really like the white background to bring out that color in Dina's hair. I like the light change between the first half of the session and that last. Overall I like the white and overhead lighting compared to the 45d off-axis look. Keep the videos coming.

Hi Daniel, my partner is a hair stylist here in Chiang Mai Thailand and she does a lot of color work, I set up a small studio above the salon and this video is spot on for me. Time for me now to get some of her clients in front of the camera, the white background really does bring out the colors.

Great as always. Daniel, when you shoot 700 pics in a row like that, how many do you actually end up using? Do you keep or delete the unused?
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 5 лет назад
Small differences make a big difference to the client. Pixels are free 🤷🏻‍♂️ - personally maybe 1, the client will use many - I keep every frame

Someone said , never use black background for linkedin photo ? I dont understand why
@NH4Ukraine2
@NH4Ukraine2 4 года назад
Hey Daniel. During the black background setup, it seems like Dina is relatively close to the background. I've been shooting the Westcott FJ400s through a 2x3 softbox at what seems like the same distance, and I'm having difficulty keeping light spill off the background when the light is placed at 45 degrees. Naturally, the problem gets worse when i bring the light closer to camera. Any thoughts?
@DanielNortonPhotographer

Perhaps a grid would help

I thought when shooting with strobes the shutter should stay 1/200 or under. I get breaking the rules, but really asking because I want to know why it's okay without sync being an issue? Thanks!
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 5 лет назад
Depends on your camera, and or if you want to use HSS - you need to stay in a shutter range your camera can sync at
@rockeetj

Great video. It looks like the hair light is feathered away from the model so much it is actually pointed perpendicular, or past her. Is that correct? What is the reason for that? To make it extra soft? Thanks for your time.

@JoeBee721
@JoeBee721 5 лет назад
Aperture ISO and shutter speeds are always explained. Hardly ever is the flash power.
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 5 лет назад
I’d say because flash power is determined by the iso and f stop you want.

would a beauty dish as a main light get to a close result in this headshot situation? Also, theres any implications making a white backdrop "black" instead of having the black one? BTW, I don't like black or white for headshots/portraits and I'd rather go for gray.
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 5 лет назад
Beauty dish would be a harder light. The issue with using light (or lack of light) to make the background black (or grey if white) is that you must consider the background more when setting up you key light which can be limiting.

Daniel, I can hear your focus beep on every shot taken,, my question is, with the f8, and f7.1 you shoot at, do you recommended to refocus every shot? since she's not moving much, does it matter much to do or not ? Thanks for the awesome video!
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 5 лет назад
It's fast enough to refocus, so yes

Please explain the hair light.
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 5 лет назад
The hair light is the light that separates the hair from the background.
@scottyofeden
@scottyofeden 5 лет назад
Why is the hair light parallel with the model and barely behind her. Not sure if the video angle is deceiving my eyes... looks as if you're using the light spilling over from the side of that hair light.
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 5 лет назад
@@scottyofeden I'm "feathering it" typically you don't want to point the hair light directly at the model's head - check this out - ru-vid.com?o=U&video_id=z13KIVEDLVQ

2 questions Daniel? I'm interested in the reflector but it's expesive! Is it Worth the Money? And By Making a person "hot" like you did, Would the extra light fill in lines and wrinkles in older people? ( As in make them less obvious for older women? That's Not meant as a Dis! Iv plenty wrinkles myself! Just that I get asked by people to get rid ) Btw Another Great video! Learned a lot!
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 5 лет назад
I think the fact that it folds down so small makes it worth it for me. Yes, in many cases shooting hot will remove detail - but if the light is at the wrong angle it will not work - shadows are what showcase lines in the skin

Hello Daniel , I have couple of questions- why do you left a time code on go pro camera, why whose videos from 2 cameras not really synchronized (it looks to me that 2nd camera - go pro a little delay ), and final question- do you have ready any of headshots from that day )))) D
@DanielNortonPhotographer
@DanielNortonPhotographer 5 лет назад
I was testing the go pro with my sling studio - first time so I did not realize the time code was there until later, but I liked it so I left it in vs cropping. I sent her the images the day after the shoot. They are ready as soon as I create them
