I just wanted to note that this particular video is a collection of years thinking on this topic, months scripting it, over a week of me editing - and hours and hours of overthinking every little thing about it. I've never been simultaneously more confident and insecure in putting something out there, as I do worry how helpful it can be, and also how heavy and long the content is. I don't like videos split into parts, so for personal preference reasons I kept it all as one. I'm popping some extra timestamps below for some of the main points that were made if you'd like to come back to them later (and bc I'm clearly overthinking the length of it). Comments on the content and techniques are very welcome, I hope you find the video/template/concepts as helpful as I have. You don't need to worry! We all love and truly value your work. Every time I see you update I know I'm in for the best of the best. You are just so pretty to look at, your voice is so relaxing, the visuals are always immaculate, the vibe is always so caring and gentle, I relate with you and what you say always resonate with me, I feel secure and at home every time I see or hear you; you've helped me immensely in my school life, hobbies, and self-image, and my life has just been heavily impacted by you. Your perfect, Elizabeth. If you were to post a video that lasted 2 hours, I'd watch the whole thing. Your content is worth it. Telling you all this because I know exactly how you feel and how difficult that is to deal with. I'm simply reassuring you.

I'm a Psychologist, I also go to therapy. It always surprises me that, however much I know about the topic, it's so hard to implement it and effect positive change in my own life AND also that it is possible! And that's so human!! I empathize so much. And I have to say that this video is truly amazing, it clearly shows the effort and care put into it, and I do believe it to be very helpful! I now plan to do this exercise as a fun end-of-year reflection. Thank you!

@@chubbypanda3398 Thanks for asking! I think it wouldn't be easy to answer in short form here, so I encourage you to go talk to someone in person in your area (even the place you would potentially study for it, they are always happy to answer these questions). To be succinct: it's a beautiful profession, cognitively and emotionally taxing at times, challenging in both good and uncomfortable ways, and it requires a lot of work for yourself and your own self growth. You can (and should) choose which types of clients/patients you will see and specialize in, so there is a super wide range of options and paths to take, and also you could even go into other areas besides clinical (research, organizational, education, sport, etc etc etc). Of course you can make a decent living out of it! Like everything, it depends on your goals and values and opportunities. It is not for everyone. And I strongly encourage you to go to therapy yourself before becoming a therapist, I'm also a professor and I cannot tell you the times I've seen a student that's there to try to fix themselves/their family, and that's not a good enough motivation for a career long term.

You are providing extensively valuable content and it has made such a huge difference in my life. I cannot put into words on how many levels you have effected positive change in my life over the course of these last few months. You have taught me invaluable things by sharing and explaining how your brain (and mine) is working and how to leverage that. You have made me feel less alone whenever you opened up and showed vulnerability. You have inspired me to dare more. You helped me see open wounds I didn't realise I had and enabling me to attend to them now, by sharing your own struggles and your personal journey. Thank you for everything you have given me. 'Do I feel that I deserve the love and peace that I need to be happy' is such a powerful sentence. And it's hard to admit the answer is no. It feels pathetic, wrong, but it's exactly the issue in my daily life. It's incredible to find in this video the question 'Do I deny myself of positive experiences?' because just the other day I wrote in my journal that I continue avoiding positive experiences because I fear the end of the happiness rush, I feel wrong in being happy and peaceful, I feel unworthy of being listened to if during a specific day I'm not struggling as hard as I've been the past three months. It's such a draining mentality and yet it is so controlling.

This might be the most actively and practically useful videos on the "self development" side of RU-vid for me. Also the most vulnerable and empathetic I've seen you as a viewer. Of course I watched the whole thing. Incredible work, congratulations and thank you. In my personal life I think I'm a bit of a master at "guarded vulnerability", where I'm open to mentioning and discussing very personal things (and being subsequently perceived as an "open book") but always in an abstracted theoretical way. I'm never actually fully sharing my innermost intrusive thoughts and feelings of insecurity and fear, I'm never prodding wounds , just observing them from afar. It takes conscious and uncomfortable action for me to actually ever utter a statement I'm emotionally attached to, without the fear of being ridiculed for childish behavior. All that to say: 1) although I have no way of knowing if you might find it similarly challenging and 2) understanding that you're working within the interpersonal (well-justified) limitations of internet broadcasting, I truly appreciate the way you exemplified everything with your own personal process and not only with detached examples. For me it would have been an easy cop-out, to make it seem like I'm talking about the thing without reeeaaally talking about the thing... Not only did it help truly cement the meaning of your words in a cognitive way, but it was very effective in conveying how important this is for a person, to just exist as a person. Not just getting bad thoughts out of the way because they're inconvenient for day to day life, but to actually address the inherent worth of agency and personhood, for the sake of being and being well. I expected only to write a couple of sentences and now I'm feeling self-conscious about "putting to much thought into something that no one cares about" (like a RU-vid comment). But I'll refrain from refraining to press send, because I actually like this about myself, finding meaning and thinking deeply are things I'm proud of. And given the video I just watched, and the many other videos I've watched of you, I think I'm in the right place :)

I actually cried at the end of the video. It's so nice to know that someone out there has experienced the similar thing as you did and trying to help in such a sincere way. I'm so used to being unhappy and anxious that even though everything seems going well at the moment, I have trouble feeling the happiness I'm supposed to feel. Instead, I feel quite empty and demotivated. It's almost like, in the past, my sufferings was my motivation. I've been struggling to adjust myself and connect myself to the new reality, sometimes the negative feelings just keep bouncing back and keep me from enjoying my current life. You videos have been a great help and a great reminder to get me back on the good track. Thank you ❤

You're not alone. I turned 26 a few weeks ago, after so many hardships for years i finally am stable in some sense however i feel so unhappy. As if i don't belong here. There's a contrast in my brain which tells me to be happy for what i have and everything, i always remind myself the same but i never thought that it's soo difficult to overcome this feeling. No matter how much i try, it never goes. I don't even know how to fix it, even of it's fixable or not and that's the most scary part. Seeing your comment along with so many others, it reassured me that there are struggles, all kinds of struggles, different for different people, we all face it. It's normal to feel what you, I and so many of us feel. It's also part of life. I hope life becomes better for us, i am willing to do everything it takes to make it better, afterall we only got one life. We are extremely lucky

This literally made me cry. In the past 2 months I started to understand better how I perceive reality (I mean: every single little part of reality) an ended up being extremely scared about the few core basics I've always assumed are true about how to live and process what happens to you. A few believes, well impressed in your subconscious mind by childhood trauma, can literally influence every decision you make and shape the glasses through which you see the world. I had a mental breakdown yesterday evening due to this and when I opened RU-vid today this video came up. Perfect timing. I feel like I'm being haunted and there have been many truly scary moments. My brain is foggy, it feels separate from my body as I'm constantly ruminating on the most uncomfortable concepts at the extremes of my imagination. This video reassured me so much and put words to my feelings. I would say I'm a person who relies on science strongly and this video gave such a clear evidence-based explanation for what I'm going through. You are very inspiring.

I don't know where to even begin, the content you've been putting out lately is just excellent - concise, well put together, and easy to understand. I have been loving the long-form content on your channel and binge-watching for the past few months. And this video is definitely one of the best projects you've put out. I am not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best channels out there for self-improvement and mental well-being. I really wish you the best for the coming future and hope you hit the 1M milestone pretty soon

Hey Elizabeth, I genuinely want to thank you for creating and uploading this video and I would like to congratulate you on building the strength it takes to walk on this path, to face all the fears, bad emotions and ‘the ugly fright’ in the mirror (as I tend to refer to it). You must be so proud of yourself to have taken all these experiences and learnings, translate them into one video and by that not only proof to yourself, that you are indeed on the right path to choose happiness, fulfillment and the feeling of being worthy for yourself, but also present a long overdue starting point for everybody else on that journey. You speak right from my soul. Your honesty and vulnerability shall serve as an example for me. For you to include all those very personal details is not easily done, but means the world and gives hope. Towards the end of the video I had tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. So here I am, tiping my first ever RU-vid comment and looking forward to share your creation with as many people as I can possibly think of. Somebody had to put it out there and you did. Thank you. Sending you all the love, solace and confidence Marie

Thank you so much for making this. I've re-written this comment so many times, trying to express how this has shook my world and opened my eyes. Honestly Elizabeth, thank you. From the bottom of my heart. I didn't know how much I truly needed this. I thought I was on a corrective journey, but after watching this I have come to the realisation I am only scratching the surface, and consciously stopping myself there. I need to do some deep, uncomfortable work. I think I knew I needed to dive further, but feared how it would change my life, my relationships but predominantly how my parents would only view me as self indulgent. Like you, I am doing this for my future children and breaking the cycle. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you

The information you presented was eye opening, easy to digest and very useful. I'll frequently watch this for tips and insight. This year has been difficult and a lot of the things you listed are things I struggle with, different triggers ofc but relatable all the same. The work isn't easy but its worth it. THANK YOU. I have been struggling a lot with depression and anxiety again recently and this video is exactly what I needed, all hail the youtube algorithm. Such a wonderful video, truly, outstanding. As a more visual learner (and design student), I really appreciate the work put into the visualization of each step and how all the information is so structured, enriched with interesting factual background facts for my inner nerd and still straight to the point. I usually don't watch a lot of motivational self-help videos, since often the advice is so general and discusses things that you already KNOW you should do after years of mental health issues but STILL leaves you overwhelmed on HOW to organize and really initiate change when you already feel so drained and I am so thankful that you decided to create this step by step guide for everyone who feels the same way!! I rarely follow people on yt - time to break a first pattern. Also, on the topic of non-sarcastic compliments: I really admire the way you express yourself with so much clarity, really inspiring and your presence radiates a sense of comfort.

All of this is so wonderfully structured - I will be exploring this in detail. I've realized that I simply don't have much of a clue what other people are thinking and this realization has been very helpful! Also, being rather empathic, I've had to learn about barriers, and this too has been a game changer! All this helps with beneficial social reconstruction! Your video is so helpful - to see how someone else is thinking and dealing with the world!

You have made me consider different approaches to things, made me feel validated, excited even to do better. Thank you for being this vulnerable with us, I can't imagine how difficult it must have been. This video is everything and more. I legit had to pause a few times to take a deep breathe while just watching it, so doing the exercises will be fun I can tell :D But thank you so much for sharing all of this. You are amazing and yes, the video is long, but I don't mind it, because there is nothing in it that doesn't make absolute sense to be in it. Shortening it would make it less understandable. Thank you so much for the wealth of insight that you’re constantly sharing with everyone on this platform! I really like how you linked ‘data collection’ with corrective experiences because I find that many people around me tend to associate experiences to feelings and emotions instead.
