Lori explains how recovery helped her find hope, forgive and heal.
Lori, an Indianapolis native, first began using drugs and alcohol at 13, she continued to use throughout college and while living and working abroad for the military. After a positive urine test derailed her military career Lori returned to Indianapolis and was able to abstain while pregnant with her daughter. Soon after giving birth, she was back to drinking and using drugs. Lori was able to maintain her corporate career and avoid any outward signs of her addiction, but inside she was losing hope and questioning her mental health.
Lori faced many challenges in her recovery including the death of her mother and reconciling with her past, but as she says, “recovery allows you to heal from a lot of things”. Now, more than two decades into her recovery, Lori has a grown daughter, and now works as a recovery coach and counselor.
