This pain is simply unexplainable. Unless you've dealt with it, you can't imagine it. I would not wish it on anyone. I'm going through an episode now. I've been dealing with this for about three years on and off and am at high risk for recurrence. I've been thinking about surgery but there seems to be mixed information about there about permanent relief/success. I'm just hoping one day I have it 100% healed and gone away from my life as well as all of yours!
@@TheOriginalGankstar yes I’ve had two of each and was telling my friend with an eye abrasion who thinks it’s so painful that an ear infection is just as bad if not worse. I remember the ear infection would have one side of my head unbearable and it would cripple me where I can’t do anything but agonize.
My 4 year old daughter poked her dad in the eye last night…. His eye is extremely swollen and now he has to go to a cornea specialist… prayers for my Husband please ❤️🤦🏽♀️
@@R.B86 your eye will heal back to normal I promise you. I’m sorry that you are going through this. I bet you are experiencing terrible pain. Just go to a cornea specialist they will help you. After my husband went to the cornea specialist his eye healed within a week. I don’t know what they did to his eye all I know is that there was some special eye contact that they put in my husbands eye and he had to wear it until he went back to his next scheduled appointment to have the contact removed. I think that they gave my husband special eye drops too I’m not sure it was a year ago.. but don’t sit around and not get treatment because it’s going to prolong the healing process and make things more difficult. I’m going to hope and pray that you get the help you need to get better ❤️
Very educational.👍I've been suffering on and off pain from corneal abbrasion and this video is well- detailed and gave me a clear understanding of what is happening in my eye.
Excellent! The only video that I could find that really explained the corneal abrasion clearly and gave a precise treatment plan. Thank you for making this video. 😎
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot my account password. I love any tricks you can offer me
@Torin Karter I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I have to agree. My bout of anterior uveitis a few years ago was tolerable in comparison and I would rather have it again than to deal with this. The corneal abrasion keeps recurring and the pain wakes me up from my sleep. I'm afraid this nightmare won't end.
P.F.H. Thankfully it does go away, hang in there. Try getting a bag of veggies out the freezer and put it on your eye. It’s painful at first but after a few seconds it numbs your eye so you don’t feel the pain anymore.
My son poked me in the eye about 4 years ago. My eye doctor told me nothing I can do and it may bother me down the road. Just drop natural tear eye drops in my eye every night. Over the last several months my eye has been getting worse and I’ve been in a lot of pain. Super helpful video. I’m going to ask a NEW doctor about this lens. Fantastic advice. 👍
A fly flew into my eye and I felt burning I managed to get fly out however my eye was probably scratched and this morning my eye is red with slight white discharge feels very uncomfortable it’s the worse feeling I’d rather have headache or anything than this
This is a horrible condition. I have had it too for about 30 months now. At first, I would wake up once every ten days with this horrible sensation in my right eye that felt like sand eroding my eye in the most painful way imaginable. After quite some research I learned that this was what was going on with my eye. The incidences became less prevalent, eventually happening weeks apart. The only way I could treat it was with eye drops at night (but that didn't totally stop it, it just reduced the hours I had to deal with it every morning. What I did find was that, if I put something warm (not too hot, but very warm) on my eye, it reduced the pain significantly after several minutes. In the end, I do not wish this even for my enemies. Because not even pain pills help for this condition
Thank you Dr. For this video. This happened to me yesterday when I put on mascara. Never again. The most painful, sharp stabbing pains. If this happens to you do not go to an urgent care they don’t have the equipment goes straight to an eye doctor. Everything this doctor just said my doctor did and I can’t wait for Monday to go back I hope I didn’t do damage down the road.
I was attacked by my aloe vera plant 2 days ago. The ER doc used the words 'chunk removed' and now Im walking around in absolute agony hoping it heals quickly.
I had mortar fall into my eye from a double story scaffold, my vision is still blurred and the pain was indescribable. Hope no one ever goes through this pain
Bruh ur vision hasn't cleared till now... don't scare me my vision become blured today I got this corneal abrasion three days ago and it's getting worse😭
Thank you for a clear explanation. I’m sitting at the Er right now with my wife they said both eyes have abrasions from her contacts somehow and she’s been using them for years now. It helps me have a more peace of mind hearing the details explained.
@jitujitu1964 I agree. I have recurrent corneal erosion and needs to wear a bandage contact lens in my left eye. But it feels extremely weird and unnatural.
@jitujitu1964 Yes i am pretty sure i have dry eye syndrome. I got it from a fingernail at night when i felt itchy in the eye. Biggest misstake of my life.
Been dealing with very sharp eye pain since last spring and it wasn't until early August that my optometrist saw me and identified the problem. The pain can get so bad that it triggers frontal headaches on that side of my head. I've been somewhat managing the pain with a clear contact lens and gabapentin, but when that lens comes off boy does it hurt. I notice sleeping I have no issues and it's only when I've been up for 15-20 mintues and blinking that the intense, stabbing pain comes back. I see my optomotrist this Friday to discuss further options because this pain is sure wearing me down and lowering the quality of my life. I never realized how horrible Corneal Abrasions can be. They're absolutely horrendous. I feel like I've been living with chronic eye and head pain because of this. I should also mention I am a migraine sufferer. So I am much more sensitive in my head than most other people.
literally on my FOURTH reaccurant corneal erosion. the pain is unbearable. i went to the eye doctor today and got an eye bandage and antibiotics. i can’t stand this pain and rather deal with contractions without an epidural. at least you can breathe through those.
just had this. It is the most intense pain i have ever felt and i have broken bones before and even got stabbed deep with a knife. But the pain from the eye is the most extreme i have felt ever. I was so happy in the emergency room when i got som pain relief drops in my eye. But sadly i could not use that for the healing would not be good. I got treated with two different ointments, one was for herpes virus witch on checkup two days later was not needed since it was no virus in the eye, just scrape/wound. I id not know the eye could cause so much pain. You wont belive it until you experience it yourself
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Just had this happen, the pain was excruciating. Was late on Friday when I got in to the Dr. so he gave me meds, will do contact lens bandage on Monday am. This made so much sense, now I understand and I am not so afraid. Bless you for explaining this!!!
I have had this problem for two years now. It did improve, but it is recurring with longer intervals. To me it feels like waking up with sand in your eye.
@@mistermornevanderberg what's testes and treatment done your doctor??? Because i have also i pain like a niddle in my eye but after many tests doctors say your eye is good no problem. Pls help
I definitely did this to myself with a papercut of all things. I had about 2 or 3 days of pain and it went away. Never went to get seen, huge mistake on my part. 5 weeks later(this weekend) I re-aggravated it. I’m in a lot of pain. Gonna go to an eye doctor tomorrow. Don’t be like me.
sounds good. I think I got one from tiny piece of rust come off when i was under the truck and it flew into my eye somehow That also explains why it hurts less today than it did 2 days ago. And also explains why I can not see any speck in my eye in a mirror, but I thought a saw a tiny scratch over my iris area. I am 61 years old, and have had things get in my eye and cause pain for a few days, then walla, pains all gone after 3 or 4 days. I debated going to eye doctor, and if it is not better by early next week will go.
@@TASIAawful1 Yes, perfect. I think I did have to go to eye doctor, and it was stuck on the eye, like suctioned down he said, It came right off in seconds, but it just would not wash off.
I am suffering from several attack of corneal ulcer and my vision is getting worse I have aproblem with dry eyes and regular opening of the ulcer the doctor at sabatia eye hospital in Kenya have tryed to treat me but no change iam loosing my abilities to see I have an auto immune. If I try a cornea transplant I can end up being blind how can you help me
I wish my eye doctor offered me that bandaid contact :( I now have scar tissue that gets irritated when my eyes get dry and it feels like something is in my eye
I scratched my eye three weeks ago, and my Ophthalmologist told me to find Muro 128 ointment to help with that. Apparently it’s on back-order everywhere, but maybe that will help you. Also Zaditor eyedrops work well.
I've had problems with recurring erosion and dry eyes for 3 years now. The combination of Recugel for night and Bepanthol drops (both German I believe) turned out to be very helpful. Not sure they are available in the US though.
So DC needs to wait to see how deep his corneal abrasion is to determined if he needs surgery or not ... Hes calling it a torn cornea coz it sounds worse?
ive had two in 3 months, its not fun and it sucks. i don't wish that kind of pain on anyone, first time it healed on its own, second time needed the contact lens and that contact lens allowed me to see as my eyes (both) wanted to close with the pain. now the opthomologist who saw me after the second one, refereed me to a laser eye doc and they want to give me another one by burning off the outer layer of cells and let it reheal. I know i am going to be down for a week and the pain is going to suck, but if i never get another one after that, i will say it was worth it, but i don't know when its going to happen, so my anxiety is through the roof, but it will happen when it happens nothing i can do about that.
GeekMoto13 ahhhh that’s what i’ve been avoiding 😭😔 i’m coming on day 3 now and i’ve been wearing a patch to try and keep it closed as often as possible. hopefully it heals soon
Well yesterday I had some acrylic fibers go in my eye, could not rinse out had to see specialist and yup I have a corneal scratch about 2-3 millimeters...
Sir Yogi Beats that’s nice to hear I was scared I had some kind of eye damage myself cause usually when I take off my contacts after a long day it feels like I have something stuck in my eye like sand and I thought it was keratitis which scared me honestly I don’t think it’s nothing serious really might just be strain from wearing contacts for a long period without break
I got hit with a soccer ball directly to the right eye about 2-3 weeks ago.. My right eyes vision was completely blurred until the next morning & my right eyes vision has been poor to say the least. My eye looks fine up close but if I cover my left eye completely, I cannot read full sentences with my right eye.. I can see however but the vision is slightly blurred to where I can't make out letters completely. I am hoping this gets better I hope its a common thing that heals with time.
@@dknight211 Yeah my vision came back from 40% to about 90% clear vision after about 2-3 months, though I wouldn't say it's perfect. I can read again from my right eye but I still see better from my left eye. I definitely don't recommend being the goalie if you play soccer.
@@dknight211 Yeah it really all depends on the extent of your injury, I went to an eye doctor a week after and they did some scans & basically told me that there weren't any signs of major issues but that I may have had some fluid that was causing my vision to blurr. Definitely go get it checked out, it's worth the $50-85 to get a professional opinion.
My dr refuses to prescribe the contact lens this dr talks about. Going on 4 months with a recurring corneal abrasion. It’s in the center of my eye and my vision is very blurry
Too often usage of medicinal eyedrops can cause this problem. One is due to the medicine itself, or rather too much of it, especially the so-called cool-feel eyedrops form Japan, ....and the other reason is that whn you use eyedrops too often, you increase the accidental chance of touching the cornea with the tip of of the eyedrop, as in accidentally poking it. artificial tears would be better and not that often of the medicinal eyedrops.....There are more reasons , such as virus....and bacteria infection....It takes a whole week to heal and your eye(s) would be blurry for a while.....rest is the best you can do, avoid bright lights, if you could help it , like direct sun light during sunsets......good health to everyone!
Excellent job explaining. Very easy to understand. Thank you. I have an abrasion form years ago and my left eye is very blurry. Should I get the surgery to scrape the cornea and wear the bandage lens?
I think I had a coreal abrasion a couple months ago I could not see at all so I went to the eye docotor and he said it was an infection he gave me some drops but now there's times where I can't see from one eye it looks kind of foggy but I notices one of my eyelids is still droopy can that still be cured or fixed without surgery bc my eyelid looks kind of puffy if you pay close attention to my eyes . 😭
hi Alejandra. Did your eye end up opening up? I know you said it was still droopy. I had a corneal abrasion about a month and a week ago and that eye is still droopy. I'm really wondering if I need to give it more time to open up or if it is going to stay droopy like that. :(
I thought the blinking was the worst I'm gonna fricking be BLIND and it had to start in the middle of the NIGHT I am so telling my parents atlas with the blindness is the white collar but I don't want to!
My baby son scratched my eye 2 weeks ago and I still have blurred vision. I never saw a doctor- is it too late for my vision to return??? I already have a lazy eye condition on my uninjured eye so my vision since the scratch is horrible up close. I am very worried that my vision will remain this way since its been this long
Hello doctor, I have a Qs for you, Are Nepafenac drops (NSAID) helpful in treating a corneal abrasion?? My corneal abrasion is healed. But I'm still using Nepafenac drops for about 2 months now. Is it advisable to continue usage?
I had the same blurry vission after cornial abrasion it took me 3 day to get normal vision again, i felt very light sensitive, looking at bright lights or going outside in a sunny day was horrible but now is fine.
Someone help me. I am a new contact lens wearer and after I take them off the only symptom I get is it feels like I have a small pebble in my eyes it’s painless but it’s pretty discomforting I searched google and it says I have keratitis which I am scared of. I always wash my hands and rinse my eye with solution every time I wear it but I am scared my eye will probably get worse someone help me
Make sure your eyes are lubricated. This just happened to me because my eyes have gotten very dry so when you take out your contacts maybe put some gel drops or saline solution in your eye to make sure it’s lubricated and the lens slides off.
This was a very thorough explanation of the eye I wish my doctors would take this time to explain to me what and why my eye bothers me but they're too busy collecting Benjamins it is more now like a drive-through with doctors they spend anywhere from five to 10 minutes while they make hundreds of dollars maybe even thousands but they do not explain to you what is wrong with your eyes they just say take this trucks that I'm going to prescribe will see you in a week to collect more Benjamins the Mighty Dollar comes first the patient comes in second
Why the f is my ophthalmologist giving me contact lenses too wear , my eyes hurt everyday I can’t do anything nor go to school or make my food .. my parents don’t even support me anymore because I’m useless to them now it sucks im only 18 and I can’t even get a transplant , my phone is so close to my eyes it sucks I hate being in my bed 247
Aman Singh hey man I’m 17 and had a nail hit my eye im on week 4 and my vision is pretty bad and still sensitive to light . feel ur pain. I see you posted 7 months ago is your vision any better now??
Hi doctor. I had intralasik surgery 7 month ago (Left eye was -8.5 and right eye was -7.5). I got ghost vision in my left eye due to the laser not hitting the center of my eye. Right eye is fine. I did lasik again for my left eye 11 days ago to fix this problem. This is done to treat the untreated area. My ghost vision has increased but the doctor said the laser hit where he wanted it to. There is improvement in my vision but not in the ghosting. My doctor said if after one month and a half no improvement to ghosting, he will remove the outer epithelial of the cornea and put a contact lense. Is this a good idea?
My son poked my eye and I didn't know I thought something was in my eye so I kept rubbing it and washing it under the water oh boy I in pain so bad I went to the emergency room. This was two years ago I'm still dealing with it. I don't think it will ever heal. I can go two months without having an episode and then boom it's back. Huh I hate this so much. There's no cure only treating.
@@Mo-dh9mx still the same it happens in the morning when I wake up.... Not everyday just like every two months. The pain is not as bad and goes away within 30 minutes. My doc said dry eye is causing this. Since my eye was scratched and I already had dry eyes to begin with it's never going to heal if I don't take care of the dry eye issue.
I had the problem for my left eye 4 months before i had a lasik surgery after one month of surgery Accidentally my friend Bala's hand kept kn my eye and i got injured it id heale but some fold is there now the vision is not clear But it's better day by day Can u help me with some of ur experience
hi, i am wondering. this morning right after I woke up and still in bed, and dark in the room. i wa rubbing my eyes and thought they were totallyclosed and with one of myfingers i am pretty sure i got myfiger in my actaul eye, although it defintely did not feel like my finger nail hit. just the skin. i guess yo ucould say i bumped the eyeball. not sure exactly which part. now my eye isn't real red, nor did i feel lots of pain. i was able to keep my eyes open all day . it felt like "something" but not painful. just enough to be able to tell. or perhaps since I knew i did it i was worrying. it does feel like the amount of light dpethness is very slightly diffrent than before I did it. but again. it doens't hurt. i don't think my finger nail scratched it. i have not gone to a doctor. oh, and shortly after i rinced my out for a copule mintues. and did it again for a cuol emintues later on. should my eye be ok?
What helped a bit for me in the mornings when mine started was putting something warm on my eye I dont know why but it helped There is no pain pill that can help for pain in that part of your eye
Anyone can tell me is it fine to have blurry vision after having this corneal abrasion coz I got this four days ago and now am having blurry vision it was fine till now but suddenly my eyes become blurry am scared to hell istg don't know what to do I went to doc but drops won't be of any help guess I will go again to doc
@english ugggh man! Luckily it wasn't my cornea or even a tear😭🤣 I freaked out because of sudden conjunctivitis upon removing my contacts with contaminated fingers. My eye guts got so swollen that I genuinely thought I had tore my cornea completely🤣 However the contacts I was removing were wayy overdue to be changed out & my eyes were dryer than the dessert. I gladly threw out that last pair of old contacts and put my glasses on. Never will I ever put the safety of my eyesight at risk again because I didn't like the way my glasses look on me. You only get two eyeballs, cherish them kindly! So no healing ultimately because that wasn't the issue🤣 Luckily!
I think I m also suffering from this actually in month of June I had accidentally poked my eye with my hand and in middle of night my eye right eye start to pain so I accidentally put ear drop I don't how my problem started if that was due to ear drop or poking I didn't took seriously in starting but after that every night after three four days I started having this pain I used to throw water in my eyes to get relief but after fifteen days it got worsed I was not able to blink even I went to doctor he said my eyes skin have got peeled he gave me antibatic eyedrop and lubricant eye drop for 20 days I used it as he had said but after stopping drop again six seven days I started having problems I again went to doctor he gave me steriod eye drop which I used for 40 days I was fine till 20 days but from last three days I m waking up every middle of night with pain what should I do i don't know I will go to doctor again but I don't want to put eye drop anymore
@@JyotiSingh-ie2gd I believe that if a doctor referred to your eye's "skin" he must have referred to the cornea, which is the proper name for the transparent "skin" that covers your eyelens.
