About 50% of all patients who have thyroid disease face ocular issues and complications, referred to as Thyroid Eye Disease. Ophthalmologist Dr Alan Mendelsohn from MyEyeSurgeons.com is talks about thyroid disease and dry eye
I've been to 5 different endocrinologist and they all deny a link between thyroid disease and the eye disease i'm experiencing. Unbelievable. Thank you for validating us, doc!
Went to the eye doctor today for a consultation on what I believed was ptosis of the right eyelid. Turns out its actually my left eye that has the issue. He said its more than likely thyroid related and referred me to an endocrinologist to work with as well. Followed up on trying to learn as much as I could to understand what thyroid eye disease is, and this video explained everything extremely clearly compared to everywhere else I looked and watched. If I'm on meds for the rest of my life, so be it, I just want my eye to look as normal as possible again.
Living with the stigma of Thyroid & not been able to have a healthy life was messing up my life until I got some super herbs from Dr Igho RU-vid channel, I haven't had any Symptom's for some while now, after I did a test & I'm planning to get another test done, Am grateful & advise you help yourself also
I wish someone would of explain this to me at the time: if any one who has this condition please make sure your under the eye doctor here in the UK 🇬🇧: He is correct smoking will definitely affect the eyes so try and give up! 1) use eye mask to cool the eyes 2) diet will play a role 3) I hear selenium has good results 4) wear sunglasses/tint to protect the eyes 5) regularly contact with eye doctor 6) make sure you your talking to someone on how you feel 7) wait till thyroid levels are normal 8)you may want eye surgery as the last result: I had hyperthyroidism in my twenties ,then had treatment iodine tablet so now have hypothyroid. My eyes effected me on so many levels in the end I ended up having eye corrective surgery. Negative: it took me three years to finally say yes to surgery.after surgery , Even though my eyes were not completely the same as before but much improve. Positive: No gritty sensitivity to light: Confidence was better than before: Makeup made a difference to apprence: I'm not a doctor or medical practitioner just giving my experience ✌🏾🤞🏾❤️
@@guljan5655 I'm sorry to hear this 🙏🏾 I'm in the UK so I have been lucky with NHS ,my eyes still get puffy but I realized of lack of sleep , diet can have a role to play such as wheat , dairy products drink plenty of water with in reason . If not ask doctor to refer you to eye specialist because it's effecting your life some kinda funding, such as a good research that isn't going to make your eyes worse. 🙏🏾🧡 I suggest change doctors if they are not listen to you first before anything 👍🏽
The part that I don't understand is, if we are currently on thyroid medication, and our labs come out on the right "levels" why do we still experience eye disease? I'm currently struggling with blepharitis and meiobomian gland dysfunction :(
Thank you for this. I have hyperthyroidism and i suffer from this all the time. Im going have surgery soon to remove my thhroid gland. I hope i dont have this again. Its so painful!
Hi Dr. Alan, Thank you for this video. Really gives a clear understanding of whats going on with my eyes...Ive' been to an opthalmologist, but she said Orbital Decompression have consequences like impairing vision...I want to proceed with the procedure but am afraid that it might affect my vision...Like she is somehow saying that there's no need to go through procedure because my vision is still ok 20/20 ....but my right eyes is really different from my left eye...please help... (Suffered from Graves disease before, now am hypothyroid after subtotal thyroidectomy) Thank you in advance!

Halima Yusuf is your eye bulged out ?? Mine was the same but when I was looking up I couldn’t look left or up so the Drs put me on pills called Carbinmazole it’s slowly working. One thing you need to be careful about these pills is they kill your White Cells if you take to much
