glad you're ok. the o2 was a good idea. but massages are not. you could have loosened a blood clot. Fluid on the lungs is possible pneumonia...enlarged heart is cardiomegaly..You got a full work up for $225. They wouldn't shake your hand for that price here in the US. Thanks for sharing this experience. This is so very important.I think though that the costs are miniscule if you have residency. Otherwise you would pay in AU dollar.

Having had kidney stones, I agree with the comments that the symptoms are similar. Note that I have had stones whilst sailing due to dehydration. Alcohol will dehydrate you and make the situation worse. An ultrasound of your kidneys will reveal whether you have stones but will not tell you whether you had them and passed them.

Good to hear your doing better, interested to understand why insurance won’t pay out in first year?
@SailingABSea
@SailingABSea 2 года назад
The insurance is a compulsory component of obtaining temporary Turkish residency. When the insurance is issued there is a disclaimer that states that certain procedures and conditions are not covered in the first 12 months. Everything is covered when you take out a second year policy with the same insurer.
@ronbeattie2638

I have had the same thing happen. I had all the same tests, finally I went to an old English Physio practitioner. She told me that a vertebrae in line with your diaphragm can pinch a nerve cluster that runs around the front of your chest. When it spasms or I stress it by reaching up too much it bites. I agree with the 11 grade pain, it seems to paralyse your diaphragm and chest so every breath hurts like hell and it hurts to move. I also get pain on the right side up under the rib cage. Most of the time it’s fine but when it plays up I resort to heat pads on my back, vibrator, or stretching out the spine. Quite often my back does not even hurt very much while the pain in my chest/ diaphragm is extreme. Not saying that is what it is but my wife said straight away when she saw the video “that’s you”.

So, I would encourage you to continue and persevere in your Keto journey (it is not easy at all - but when both of you are doing it, it is much more doable. I also found a great motivator in the new tangled bio scales that work with a phone app to track not only weight but also the key measurement of body fats. Baz - sounds 100% like a kidney stone - starts in the back - moves - jagged little edges cutting it's way to the sea. 11/10 pain (I had ten hours of out of my mind pain) pain subsides - but still with the low/mid dull pain. If it kicks in again - and goes 10/10 again - it's certainly a stone. It took 57 days to pass my first - and have have three more since. If it's less than .5mm - it'll pass on it's own - if it's bigger - you might need intervention. Keith on Sailing Zatara had a .9mm stone at sea - and passed it in two weeks. What you described was 100% to me a kidney stone attack.
@murrayspiffy2815
@murrayspiffy2815 2 года назад

Good you are feeling better. You are doing well to pursue this further. Tough luck with the insurance, but the price you paid without insurance in a private clinic is a fraction of the price you would have paid in Greece and I suppose even a smaller fraction of what you would have paid in other countries. If you were in Greece you would have been entitled to free hospital care in the NHS which used to be much better quality than it would appear judging from the ‘hotel type amenities’ provided as compared to the private sector, but in these covid days this is not so anymore. Do try to get to the bottom of this, it will be safer and will keep your mind in peace, more so because of the boat life you are living. Cheers mate

They’re going to run the endoscope up my willy, I’m not looking forward to this, although it will be a full anaesthesia operation. Ultrasound investigation into another problem I am having revealed this. Once past 50, when you start researching you’re sure to discover things.. That other problem proved to be acute ulcerative colitis which I am being currently being treated for. There was a cancer scare but it proved that there’s no issue with that, thank you very much. UC being an autoimmune disease might have been aggravated by my recent 3rd dose covid jab, but getting covid itself might have resulted in much much worse aggrevation.. Your case might have been kidney stones mind you, the pain is excruciating, I've been there twice. Anti-inflamatory and muscle relaxant injection helps with the acute pain. So the first year of a health insurance policy.... doesn’t insure your health? Great! Haha I have had back pain for so many years so can understand your issue, sleep apnea obviously didn’t help you rest your muscles at night. Is there nothing you can do about the sleep apnea?

(Baz) I had surgery for a deviated septum in Australia. That didn't fix the apnea. I do use a cpap machine at night.

@@SailingABSea although when we're at anchor in the height of the season, he doesn't use it because the generator would be annoying to the other boaties. That does take a toll on him over the summer months. Which is one reason we like the Setur marina contract, it gives us the opportunity to use the CPAP machine so he does get some nights rest during the sailing season.

@@SailingABSea The ds upper airway resistance could make osa worse but it wouldnt change it. There are specific osa dental appliances and positional wedges that you can also use when u cant use your machine. Because of the increase in cortisol and adrenaline Osa is prone to increase panic disorders that can manifest as chest pain but otherwise, the other comments about muscle spasm or kidney stones sound layman-plausible. Some with osa can get related muscle cramping (even in the legs). Fyi alcohol makes osa sig worse bc it further relaxes the trachea muscles during sleep.

Hello Baz and Aannsha, I am glad you are feeling better! Our hospitals are very good indeed ! Much better than Canada. I lived in Canada for a while so, knowing both system i can compare them easily Here for 2 dental implant they quote me $12.000 which brought tears into my eyes! I got it done in Turkiye for $600 cnd both. And my doctor asked me where i got it done they did an AMAZING JOB! But our doctors are not getting paid fairly over here and they are leaving Turkiye for Europe our USA. Thanks to Erdogan we are now having shortages of medication as well I hope next election Turkish people will make wiser decision and we will get rid of bloody Erdogan. If not sadly dark days are ahead of us .

(Baz) Hi mate, there's still an ache in the right hand side back muscle. Some days it's a 1, some days it's a 2. Apart from that I'm feeling totally normal. I think a trip to a local hammam for a good massage will help. Cheers.

@@SailingABSea - good news - it is a stone - the slow dull pain in the majority of the passage. There will be a flair up here and there but it won't last long - then it will go back to a dull pain again - as it works its way out. Like I said - my first one took 57 days - with 55 of them in the little to no pain - and the dull pain was never far away. Dull pain means its moving through your system. You might have a couple of more episodes of 10/10 pain - but they won't last too long - but they will kick you ass up over your head. The good news is you don't die from this - it just hurts - and takes a bit of time. My 2nd 3rd and 4th episodes were pretty tame to the first and pass in less than 2 weeks.

So Glad your feeling better ....Canada's medical is extremely poor..... free means very very poor service . Attitudes are bad and Moral is at a all time low ..... God for bid you need medical here your liable to die before you get any one's attention ..... Good thing you were in a country that has realistic costs .....I had a 30 min MRI 1 month ago Cost ??? $700.00... If i waited for the public system it was a one year wait . Yup moving

Medical costs in certain countries do not realistically represent the services provided. We are very impressed with Turkey. 👍

Like most comments kidney stones. The other idea is vitamin e shortage, much more of a long shot than kidney stones but easy to remedy
