One way to think about the Stark Law is to call it the Stock Law, where if a physician has stock in a company, this law makes it illegal for them to pump that stock up for their own gain

I have a question about Stark Law. Does that apply to referrals to other physicians? For example, it is illegal under the Stark Law for a spouse to refer to their spouse for speciality care, like a FM wife referring her patient to her orthopedic surgeon husband for a procedure? How do anti kickback laws apply to places that have sliding scale fees? It seems from my limited understanding of this topic that could be considered a violation.
so what about chiropractors that refer personal injury patients to the same law office who obviously cut them a check with every settled case….. with that being said, the chiropractor also racks up the bill with a ridiculous amount of treatment including both adjustments and physical therapy. also, chiropractor has at least 2-3 “red carpet patients” that he treats a day and bills the insurance but NEVER collects a copay or any type of payment towards their visit or past visits.
My husband kept trying to file insurance claims on me so he wouldn’t have to pay, then he goes around acting like he did all he could for me. I’m so tired of him.
