Hey Dane! Been a while since I commented. I hope all is well with you. I think you made a really good point on this video about loss being one of the key causes. Reminds me of children who lack good role models not being able to lose gracefully. Then you realize when you become an adult that many of us play the same immature games, but it's cloaked behind intellectualism and more elaborate schemes. I can remember playing street ball, and when a really competitive person would lose, they just had to say "oh, I wasn't even trying, run it back" Pride cannot accept failure. Republican's get riled up about Fox news saying that Mexican's are coming for their jobs and that people want to steal their right to bear arms. Then liberals yell about how republicans want to take away their bodily autonomy and make them slaves of the male patriarchy. The older I get, the more I realize that fear and greed run this world. As believers, we are only supposed to fear God, because Satan at best can only destroy the body. One of the oldest tricks in the book, make all of the problems in your life someone else's fault, and you never have to take accountability. There's a huge nationalist uprising brewing in America (and other countries too) Unfortunately Christ isn't at the center, though they have hijacked much Christian language. I think it's a picture of the Abab and Jezebel versus Jehu story. God used Jehu to bring down the sheer depravity through a nationalist movement, then judged Jehu and the the nation of Israel for their own idolatry. Same theme as echoed in the letters to the seven churches in revelation. Hating the actions of the Nicolaitans alone doesn't make you righteous. It's good to hate the things God hates (like abortion and sexual perversion) but we cannot leave our first love. When conservatives start pulling down their graven images of Lincoln and Washington, then I'll start to believe their may actually be a true move of God taking place. But I'm not holding my breath. I think the next chapter in world history will be very dark, perhaps the end of the age.
Are you saying we Christians ALSO have to give an account of words we speak??? Because the Lord said He will cast all our sins away, as far as the east is from the west.
Great question! Thanks for asking it. While it is true that we are saved by faith and that our sins are forgiven us through Christ, the Bible makes it also clear that every person will be judged on our works (Revelation 20:13-15, Romans 2:5-10, I Peter 1:17, Matthew 16:27). I believe that we will be rewarded by God based on how faithfully we lived. A person who has done many great and good works for God will be rewarded greatly, while a person who has done little for God and has lived selfishly will be rewarded accordingly. The Christian life does not mean we can live anyway we want to and expect it to be forgiven them. Dane
