🔥🔥🔥🔥IMPORTANT PLEASE READ THIS🔥🔥🔥🔥 At 29:00 where I am starting to edit some of the settings for the compressor, please also change the setting called Makeup ( Knob on the right ) to 8db. I accidently left that setting out, sorry 😞 Also everything past the in game settings is going to be more advanced stuff, so please follow along carefully and if something doesn't work. Best advise is to remove Equaliser APO and start again. I will try and help with any troubleshooting if its not working for you if I can but everyone's system is different, so may not be able to help
OK so I don't normally follow these kinda things but because it came from you and I respect yur opnion on these things I gave it a try and I am actually blown away, it really does help and I was abe to hear footsteps a hell of a lot better. This also worked really well on The Cycle Frontier which I still play now and again and dam on The cycle it felt like I was cheating. That compressor thing is huge dude, thank you so much for sharing this
This video has helped me the most with hearing footsteps and being able to exactly pinpoint where someone is. Tysm for the tips, every game I play now just sounds wayyy better.
Great info!! A compressor make much more sense than sound lock (which i been using). I've been wondering how i could get an eq and comp to run but never had time to mess with it.. 💥 *Also, just something u may have not noticed about compressors & compensating for compressed audio (lower vol) ! ! **31:05** - U hover over it at **30:50** as well!!!* ⏬ 👉 Usually *compressors for mixing/mastering most likely have an output preamp, usually called "make-up gain" or "output gain"* - both on the right side of the module (90% of the time) & both labeled with db. Although either way works and neither is technically "the right way;" the compressor itself is designed to bring the volume/gain back-up, by itself (and being designed for it - it works better than evenly applying gain across it all as it counter acts with its compression effect). As it applies make up gain evenly to the lower vol after compressing the extremely loud vols; it brings it all back to normal volumes without un-compressing itself - or making the loud - loud again, and the quiet - louder- but still overpowered by the extreme vols like before. - Hope that can help, and hope u can makes sense of it lol (its hard to explain)
Thanks man, Yeah If you check the pinned comment. I accidently left out make up gain which I normally put to 8db :-) Great read though and always like to learn something from others to help me understand things more. Thanks dude
thanks for the video. as i was struggling to hear footsteps sometimes i gave it a try. did not expect it do be so diffrent from how it was before... thanks a lot, helps out a lot! and its easy reset to normal audio for when im not playing dmz :)
Thank you so much, great step by step explanation. I'm new to COD and mustering up the nerve to enter DMZ solo. Want to get M13B been watching your other solo vids. Peace.
Love your content! Would you ever consider 🙏 🙏 doing a Best Skins for DMZ video analyzing the pros and cons to different types and also maybe skins earnable via DMZ mode and best way to get them? Keep up the awesome work man!
Nice video. Have also an iFi DAC/AMP combo. I use it for music and gaming and tried APO a lot of times. Also the files for headphones. It change the sound drastically but not to the good. First not all hear same. thats why the curve is not for everyone. It is only theoretically. All my headphones got muddy sound with it. And with this settings do you really hear footsteps clearer and better? If you boos or lower special frequencies in the range of the footsteps than you change something. The headphone curve equalize or normalzie the headphone to more linear. Anyway good video. (try steelseries sonar and see the difference in settings)
I may change the title later on but it was mainly a video on my set up as have been asked why footsteps sound loud and crisp in my videos. This is pretty much how I have my audio set up for gaming, it's not for everyone for sure
@@pyropotassium4076 True, footsteps are loud in csgo, so to be honest it wouldn't make soo much of a difference since a compressor only effects the super loud sounds and the super low sounds etc.
Great video and information. I play solely on PC. The instructions were simple to follow and I got it all set up. Something you did not talk about, which I messed with and have a question about is the POWER buttons for the various things we've added like the plugin, preamp, and text file. I didn't notice a difference in the sound, footsteps, etc. then I click all of the POWER buttons. THEN the sound changed. Am I assuming correctly that once you launch the program, you need to turn them all ON via the power buttons? The difference in sound I heard is that the LOUD stuff was lower, which is wonderful. I hate it, when I'm trying to chat with my team on discord and the gunfire and explosions are so loud I can't hear what they are saying. Now they are at a reasonable level and I'm able to hear my team on discord. Also, the footsteps are NOW audible WHILE fighting which is a huge plus. Sadly the HEADSHOT "CHA-CHING!" noise is still loud but that's ok =] Can't wait to tell the team and get them set up. It's clearly an advantage and edge we'll enjoy. Thanks again for putting in your time on this and sharing it with others. I was also very surprised my headphones were on the list. I have high-end studio reference headphones open-backed (makes the game sound VERY realistic and immersive) because I got tired of using "gaming headsets" which were nothing more than cheap Chinese trash LOL. I've also run them through a DAC (digital to analog converter) and preamp. I also set up a high-end studio recording microphone because I wanted people to hear me clearly and with a crisp clean sound. These programs are a very nice bonus to this setup =]
Maybe something new with the power buttons as when I add them, they where already on and but you can use them to turn things Off which I think I talked about but may off missed it, which I am sorry if I did. Thanks for letting me know its all working for you, always glad to help when I can
Hey man thank you for posting this video. I watched a few other videos and subscribed. You said at around 20:50 that the graphic EQ settings in E APO. Get us to a neutral setting with our specific headphones. After we got that done. If I want footsteps to be louder I should be turning up the dB on the specific frequencies produced by the game right? The vast majority of foot step cues happen between 50hz to 200hz. So if I turn up the decibels on the specific frequencies I should hear them better. Is that correct? Thanks again man. B
Thank you for the video. Is there away to turn down the vehicles and not effect the footsteps? I followed the guide and the when in a car in DMZ it is so loud. Thanks again for making this very detailed video.
hey thanks for this video man u are awesome. i followed every step the steps improved drastic but i have a problem maybe u can help me with it... as soon as i put in the graphic eq the visual curve on the bottom turns red and i get a over steering(i guess) that sounds like little cracks. i did everything like shown the only difference i could find is that i get a latency of 2.7ms as soon i add the compressor... is there any fix that would be so nice??? i would love to use it😩 (Headset logitec g pro x btw...)
I also get an red curve myself, that is due to having gain for more loudness. Could always reduce the gain using the last step or from the pinnned comment, instead of a 8db put it lower etc. No idea in regards to it adding that much latency. I do know this adds some extra CPU power, so could be your CPU not liking the extra load?
@@SiNisterFPS wow that was quick thanks for the answer. yeah im 90% cpu bound in the benchmark that might be it... thats unfortuned but thanks anyway dude 👍👍👍
amazing walk through, but 2 questinos, my a40's come with a mix amp. what do i do with that? and 2nd i also run sonar with the mix amp.. should i remove that program and just run the Equalizer APO ?
You can keep using the mix amp if it's what is powering your A40s. Just make sure surround sound is off from the mix amp and if it has presets, I would make make a neutral one basically every slider in the middle. This way the amp is ot really effecting the sound and is just more a amp to power your headphones. What is sonar? Is it that app from stealseries? The one with the eq and surround sound? You are welcome to use that, personally I don't like any off them from my testing but a lot of big youtubers seem to promote it and say ita better.
@@SiNisterFPS i removed sonar app from steel series, what you provide was absoulty amazing, for WZ2- i was able to go from 1-2 kills a game yesterday to 5-9 a game. so much better to hear. thank you from putting this together.
Do you need the APO open in the background for it to effect the game, or once it's set up you can close the program and not open it every restart? Thanks!!
Then just skip that step, it's not the biggest part of what effects your footsteps, it's just nice to have a neutral sounding headphone if possible etc
Don't think I have seen it, when you say peaking filters what does you mean? I got the settings for the compressor off a screenshot someone posted on a audio reddit post when searching for some starting settings for this compressor pluggin as when playing around myself something sounded off
@@SiNisterFPS ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oL6Tvm0lcfM.html 7:50 of this video he adds 'peaking filters' , just noticed its a video for Warzone 1 so it could be different. Another question, I watched your video and made a config for my Realtek audio headset (default) but i'll be setting up my DACAMP tomorrow, will I have to reinstall the Eq Apo to set it for my DACAMP and then make a new config?
@Maxx Waligora I will give it a watch later on :-) looking at the time mark, looks like a graphic eq to effect the sound of the game. May give it a try and see if it's relevant for DMZ but don't normally like changing the overall sound. Just like to compress it, so it brings the overall volume levels around the same. You will need to do the initial set up again as it will be a different output from before
What should I do as someone using a pair of GSP 550s and Sound Blaster G6? The G6 has built in eq sliders - so could I just run the compressor alone? Also unfortunately can't find an EQ for 550s and not sure what would match it closest.
You can always skip the EQ part, its not Super important, more a little extra touch to get your headphones into a neutral sounding but its the compressor which is the most important thing, also make sure to read the pinned comment to make sure you add the extra setting I missed in the video
So the compressor didn't help. What helped me personally was sitting in-game and working with the EQ to figure out which frequencies held the ambient sounds and footsteps. For me, the ambient sounds ranged from somewhere between 500-4khz. I forget which other channel it was, but there was one that stated footsteps fell primarily in the 100-300hz range. So I depressed the ambient range and bumped the 100-300 range (+ a bump to treble). That seemed to make the game much quieter overall and preserve the volume of footsteps. A friend of mine runs a pair of logitech headphones and he eliminated ambient sounds by depressing the 725hz range strangely enough. I'm not sure why he and I have such varied results on what we had to EQ, but it seems that it will work just fine for people with headsets that have independent EQ programs (like logitech and senn do) to figure out where the ambient sound frequencies are and press them out. This games audio engine is bad, but after doing this I realized that the major issue is how much they boosted the ambient and explosive/shooting effect sounds over foot step sounds. Almost like when they walked the footstep loudness back from the beta, that they didn't do the same for everything else and that's why it sounds so god awful (lack of sound at times aside).
What happens if you enable spatial sound? My desktop comes with DTS:X Ultra and I previously had this enabled for 3d audio (i.e. improved directional sound). Will it cause the sound compressor plug in to not work correctly? I just don't want to sacrifice the quality of my directional sound.
@@SiNisterFPS In my case they do so I will go ahead and re-enable it. When you specifically mentioned in the video to turn it off I figured it had to be for a good reason. Thanks again for the tips, its definitely elevated my gameplay and I cannot thank you enough!
@Adam McCabe the only reason I say it is because I don't those surround sound softwares are that great in terms of hearing where people are but we all different in that regards, I know a lot of youtubers who do recommend it
If you go through this gigantic process, most likely fucking up your PC audio in the process btw, just to hear footsteps slightly better, it's time to rethink some life choices.
lol its not for everyone, I am just putting out the video for my community who ask me all the time how I hear footsteps so well in games like this or other FPS games. Well this is why, doesn't fuck up your audio at all and easily undone by a simple uninstall of the software.
NOt really a gigantic process unless you find this stuff hard to understand which from the looks of this comment you seem to be clueless but what he talks about really does help an if you are into FPS games and want an edge, this really does help as I just decided to try it myself.
yeah can't lie you gotta be retarded. All you gotta do is copy this guys settings, I don't see how it's a "gigantic process" lmao. Clearly have no clue what you're on about if you think this will ruin your PC audio
