When a cure for sensorineural hearing loss is discovered, sign me up for clinical trials. Contact info for the clinical trials would be good too.

In addition to tinnitus treatment, what is being done to get the medical insurance industry to begin recognizing hearing loss and interventions to treat it as medical conditions? Hearing aids are NOT elective in nature as the medical insurance industry now seems to believe.

Interestingly, I had an Acoustic Neuroma that was removed. I left the hospital with hearing, but lost it a few weeks later. Testing by my audiologist showed I was completely deaf. Since then, i’ve been having massage therapy to treat headaches from the surgery. Guess what? My hearing is partly restored. Maybe tight muscles can reduces signally along the auditory nerve.

It is nice to know that there are treatment options available. I am sure with research more treatment options will become available in the future. Although i have had tinnitus for decades, i also have coexisting chronic conditions which can affect my hearing. I can usually notice a difference whenever I have a spike in one of my other conditions. I am surprised that i haven’t lost the rubber dome inside my ears yet as i was told one ear canal has a weird bend. I’m pretty sure that will eventually happen because I tend to be accident prone.

Why isn't intratympanic steroid injections offered as an alternative to oral prednisone? I cannot handle the oral medications and I was not offered anything else.

Great video. I'm still not sure about what is causing my hearing loss, but I am seeing a professional this afternoon. One other situation that you did not cover is that some people (like my wife) may develop a small tumor in the inner ear that causes hearing loss.

I recently had to take Azithromycin for a root canal. After the 5 days of taking the Azithromycin, the hearing in my left ear diminished dramatically....as you said, like I am under water. Is there anything that can be done??? Thank you for your answer. Yes, I will be going to an audiologist on Tuesday and the next week will see the doctor. God bless you and your family. Miss Monique 🙂

@@SandeepSharma-ir1cr If science can find a way to regrow destroyed hair cells, it will be possible to cure sensorineural hearing loss. This includes noise-induced hearing loss! That would be a sensation. I think gene therapy or stem cell therapy is a possible way. Many animals, including birds, certain fish species and reptiles, are able to regrow their hair cells automatically. Why humans and mammals in general are at such a disadvantage is still a mystery. This is a serious flaw.

@Volksinformant
@Volksinformant 6 месяцев назад
@@SandeepSharma-ir1cr The bitter truth is that human hearing is the most neglected organ in medical research. Very few research institutions worldwide are looking for a cure for sensorineural hearing loss and tinnitus. As if that wasn't bad enough, audiology and otology have made zero progress in the last 50 years. Really zero progress. It is the least developed branch of medicine. Completely complacent, the medical profession believes that habituation and hearing aids are sufficient for the treatment of hearing loss and tinnitus. No wonder we still don't have a cure. It makes me very angry and it has contributed to my losing faith in medicine.

After waking up one day with loss of hearing suddenly in one ear , I was givin prednisone a oral steroid for 2 weeks , did not work only other option was eardrum injections but didnt go that route cause was told showed it really doesnt do anything for most and also can cause to eardrum from needle , but thats up to you to decide, i personally chose not to go that route. After a year i still have high frequency loss and tinnitus, but not as bad as the first month half my hearing came back on its own.

the big question that stay in the way of success of the treatmentis fear that already damaged hearing cells { hering loss/.Hyperacusis/tinnites} will be more prone to more damages than normal people would have ? So we need to protect ourself from loud sounds even far more ? ...it is really official otherwise because logically that is the truth..especially when noises create more pain in the ears.Please address this question with your professional opinion? Possably we need to use ear plugs with 70 max ds?

@@vladislavroytapel2830 I don't know people say you should expose yourself to normal everyday noises so you get better, not loud sounds. Loud sounds are a big no no since they are the root cause of hyperacusis, they caused damage to your auditory nerve in the first place why would you want to be exposed to them more

My hearing loss I can live with, much more concerned with the tinnitus. Many people have hearing loss without tinnitus, I'm not one of them. Perhaps the upcoming Susan Shore device will lessen it. Hearing aids help to a point.

Hi Rachel, I appreciate all of the valuable information that you and Cliff bring to the hearing impaired community. Please don't mind me for saying this. Both you and Dr Cliff tend to overstate your body language. Watching all of the hyper bouncing of hands and body appears to be very unnatural. I'm sure that you do this on purpose for a reason, but for me I find it to be annoying.
