I am not kidding, heart aerospace change my perspectives on regional airline operations . Thay why within the mid 2030s to 2040s ,am looking to start my own regional airline in the CARIBBEAN and heart aerospace will be our friend.!
Hi! Understand your concern but here is how I see it: You bring up a vital point. Some media has reported that Heart Aerospace is "now going with hybrid planes", implying a sudden change in it´s committment to make fully electric planes. This is incorrect! The new ES 30 will have three options. 1. Fully electric 200 kms but with an onboard jet engine that serves as a emergency reserve in case the plane needs to change air strip. What it means is that if you design a plane for 30 passengers with only batteries (with current battery density and weight) you would have to have ALOT of dead weight in terms of batteries that would only be needed in case of extreme cases when you are unable to land on the designated air strip. Heart Aerospace have realized that this would limit the battery electric range of the plane and the number of passengers it´s customers/air lines need to make the trips economical. By installng turbo generators, that mainly is there as reserve capacity only means it lives up to the required guielines for reserve capacity. Again, the jet fuel driven generators would only be used in VERY rare occasions. It also means less weight that wouldn´t be used in most cases anyway! Option 2. Is 200 km range with batteries+200kms with added fuel to the turbo generators, so 400km in total. This would be a utilized hybrid version that could fly 200 totally electric but if needed or to extend range, fly 400 km in total. 3. Is the same plane but with 25 passengers intead of 30 which enable 400 km fully electric (or is it 300km?, not sure but please inform me!) or 800 km with 3-400 km battery electric and 400km powered by the turbo generators. So even when the turbo generators are used during a regular flight for longer range it would still cut the emissions in half or even more until it can be completely replaced by better batteries or hydrogen for example. I think this a necassary step forward to make the electric flights possible! Cheers, Johan

I dont think the tech is there for all electric plane It says 200km range in best condition but what about range in bad weather. I like more mild hybrid plane with 2 ES motor and 2 fuel engine.

Not sure you were listening to the presentation. They stated the back up turbo generators had a dual purpose, to increase service range but also to provide reserve power in case of bad weather and change of plans requiring alternative landing airports.
I have a great idea, if you half the battery range, you could at the same weight more then double the total range... If you skip the batterys all together you can make a plane that has a usable range on aviation fuel. 200km is a joke, noone wants to go back to airport hopping like in the 40's
