heart disease (carnivore vs. vegan doctors)

In this segment of opposing views, heart disease causes are discussed between two of the most successful cardiologists in their field.
Dr. Ovadia is a cardiologist who supports the carnivore lifestyle as the optimal diet, Dr. Kahn is a Vegan who supports a Plant Based Lifestyle to prevent heart disease as the optimal diet.
Without engaging in meaningful, long-form conversations between two opposing views, we live in echo chambers -- false realities -- never challenging science. By the end of this conversation the two Cardiologists who have fundamentally different methodologies agreed on probably the biggest factor that causes heart disease. What that means is that everyone, regardless of eating carnivore or vegan, can start with this simple truth agreed upon by the two doctors and know that they are fundamentally eradicating heart disease.
I hope you like this, please share thoughts below and review the references provided by both doctors. Thank you.

I’ve been a vegetarian, a raw vegan, a paleo, and a pescatarian, in that order, over the last 15 years, and all I did was get sicker until I started carnivore three weeks ago. Now, all of my health problems are reversing. I’m off three out of five of my meds. My energy is through the roof. I’ll never eat another plant again.🦁🥩💪

Yes me as well standard then vegetarian then vegan then fruitarian then paleo then keto then carnivore nothing compares to carnivore it’s almost like we were designed to eat this way we have fancy phones and cars but our bodies are still early man, our entire digestive system is designed for protein and fat which we are made of, we don’t have a cecum anymore evolution knocked that out, it’s 50,000 years ago in another ice age and people are saying pass the broccoli 🤡 which is funny for one that wasn’t a choice and two none and I do mean none of these supermarket vegetable existed in the forms seen today

Raw vegan is not recommended by any doctors. I do whole foods plant based and I cook much of my food as it is much easier to get the desired amount of caloric energy. I think you're going to eventually die from a stroke or heart attack, just going by pure probability, but I hope you wise up before then. God Bless you.

Unfortunately for many doctors these are "isolated cases" that are not relevant to science because for genera practice they can't rely on things like that, regardless that those "isolated cases" have become hundreds of thousands they are still waiting for "real science" to study and tell them if that if is real or not. Sad, sad, sad,. The whole medicine industry is sad.

The assertion of safety rests on a mere hypothesis, not empirical evidence. Dr. Khan’s preference for organic canola oil underscores a shift towards healthier alternatives. The crux of the Minnesota Coronary Experiment’s controversy lies in its use of margarine, a product historically riddled with trans fats. Although unrecognized as a health risk during the 1970s, trans fats are now implicated in adverse health outcomes. The study’s lack of precise dosage data further complicates the interpretation of its findings, rendering it an incomplete chapter in the annals of nutritional science

I have also gotten rid of all my joint pain, my high BP, my pre-diabetes, painful arthritis in my hands and elsewhere is gone, my sleep has improved, my lifelong dry skin is gone. Shall I go on? I did this diet as a last resort to see if it would help me feel better. And it did. I feel better than I did in my 30's. It was like a miracle for me. I am 76, and I feel amazing every day! I've been a 'healthy' low fat omnivore (increasing health issues), plant based for 2 years (abject failure) and now carnivore for 4+ years (amazing!). I will say that without question, the carnivore diet is the healthiest and has eliminated ALL my health issues. I just wish we could agree that, irrespective of plant based or animal based, we can be healthy if we eat locally, seasonally and avoid processed foods and seed oils. Dr Kahn may well think he's healthy eating plants, but is he optimally healthy? Probably not. And his ignorance concerning LDL was shocking but not surprising.

These days, (I am 82 years old) I eat a low carb diet and my weight has come down, I am not longer in the pre-diabetic range and I am no longer on blood pressure meds. I don't need attack vegans but that wasn't healthy diet for me--I gained weight, was always hungry, snacking all the time. For examples the epidemiological study of nurses found meat dangerous based on a set of questions like "in the last four years how often did you eat... ... I am. I'm 76 and I've lost over 50 pounds doing keto/carnivore/ketovore. I don't have high blood pressure but last January I got a CAC score of 305 and up until three weeks ago I have been experiencing unstable angina episodes always at rest. Obviously I have atherosclerosis from eating a poor standard American diet for decades. I currently avoid all grains, starches, high carb vegetables and fruit except for blueberries occasionally. I was taking 4,000 FUs of nattokinase once daily for nearly a year. Three weeks ago I increased my dosage to 12,000 FUs. Nine days ago I started the Pauling Therapy taking high dose vitamin C and L-Lysine. For the past three weeks I haven't had an angina episode. I have no intention of changing anything I'm presently doing except for getting more exercise. My triglycerides to HDL ratio is healthy per Dr. Ovadia's videos. One more thing I'd like to add is concerning oxalates. I used to eat a lot of high oxalate foods like almonds and spinach. I havexa history of making calcium oxalate kidney stones. I've looked into whether or not high oxalates could be causative for atherosclerosis. It seems that there is some evidence that it is possible. Three months after doing carnivore my wife and I both experienced oxalate dumping. So I really feel that oxalates could have been part of my problem. My wife saw Fuhrman in his office. What a waste of $500. All he did was repeat what was in his books. No personal tailored treatment suggestions whatsoever. We wasted a year doing things his way. Her blood pressure never improved. Why? Because insulin resistance was the problem and his vegan diet includes too many carbs. Now when I occasionally catch him being interviewed on you tube he strikes me as the most arrogant narcissist I've ever seen. Gary Taubes book Good Calories, Bad Calories convinced me that being a vegan wasn't a viable solution.
@kwagnert
@kwagnert 7 месяцев назад
@@njsongwriter your angina episodes could be an electrolyte issue. Always add some salt (Himalayan salt) or SOLE to your drinking water. Also, magnesium deficiency can be a problem. Try adding that because vitamins C is not the solution to your symptoms. 64 year old here (today! :)), full carnivore, but had to stop ALL dairy products (except butter). Caused some stomach issues and sometimes a feeling of bloating (inflammation) that felt worse at night. All gone now, just eating bacon, eggs, red meats (all), sardines, shrimps, lobster, etc. No plants or fruits except decaff coffee and sometimes unsweetened hot cacao powder in water, which is less than 2 carbs per drink, and a huge pile of butter! and I do use one teaspoon of allulose/monkfruit to lightly sweeten it. It doesn't affect glucose/insuline/ketones at all) :), tastes great and I dropped the heavy cream that I used to add to it. Even though unsweetened cacao powder has some oxalates, I don't care because it's a small amount and it's basically the only "plant based" components I drink. As for seasoning, I only use salt and pepper. Nothing else! Cheers and "Live long and prosper!"

And Dr Khan is so wrong about seed oils and added sugar. It's become hard for me to appreciate the vegan point of view at all. It's so hardcore ignoring human evolutionary diet. I became so allergic to so many plant foods because I have a latex allergy. And plants were definitely going to be the death of me. Love being a carnivore! Best thing I ever did for myself. Took eating the wrong things for a few years thinking I was being healthy and piling up on oxalates and ending up in the ER for me to figure it out.

While I was low carb, my Lp(a) lowered when I started taking niacin. It only lasted awhile, though, as it quit working. I quit taking the niacin when I read that it can cause increased blood glucose. At that point I’d been carnivore for a year. Unfortunately, being strict carnivore hasn’t reduced my Lp(a). My ApoB is still high on carnivore, too. That won’t deter me from staying carnivore, though, since I’ve seen many benefits, including resolving my sugar addiction.

We have to push for help with this and not just accept the one size fits approach. That partnership is what medicine OUGHT to be.

Medicine should be always individual. But there are certain things that are not debatable. We can not change the biochemistry or the physiology or patophysiology. If we are saying having high LDL-C puts you at risk for heart disease and we should try to lower it it is not an opinion. It is based on decades of research, hard outcome data and genetic studies. The biggest cause of your high LDL-C is genetics, not diet. Diet and exercise are just a way to treat it without medication. Sometimes it is not enough. We can debate how you want to lower it, make an individual concept how it fits best. What we can not debate is that having chronically elevated LDL-C is unhealthy. What we can debate though if it is worth the risk for you personally.

The Tuft's guy, (mentioned at 38:50 in this video), with the name I cannot pronounce, who is supposedly "one of the top 5 nutritionists in the country," is the guy who tells us that Cheerios are way healthier than eggs and meat. Well, I guess it must be true then. Yeah, right.

Adding Dr Nadir to the debate would be interesting. He knows the fallacy that is the research.

The best thing about carnivore diet is that shopping is a breeze and has zero wastage of food in the fridge. ❤

Dr. Kahn's arrogance is apparent, including looking down his nose to us as he states seed oils are healthy.

As I am not a doctor. But I would say it’s how the food is being farmed and how the food is being fed. For example, how beef eats a lot of food that has chemicals and how our vegetables are sprayed with a lot of chemicals I would say that needs to be looked into more than just the amount of cholesterol Because a lot of these chemicals that are used in feed are pretty harmful and a lot of chemicals that are used on plants as well are very harmful and no matter what anybody wants to say prior to being harvest that they have to be detox for 30 days that stuff is still in the body of the animal and the body of the plant.

Did your LDL go up as mine did? All my markers are good except LDL. Not that I worry about it!

@@cathiemcginnis3997 Even Shawn Baker said you should be aware of this number and if you can fix it you should try. Some people are hyper responders to cholesterol and it goes up. It happened to me and I got it in check when I went to keto adding in some fiber from veggies which I had no problem digesting and also not over consuming fat in my diet. I was prediabetic and even onc arnivore I could not get my blood sugar down and I learned from Mariah Emmerich that I needed to not overdo fat and then everything got good. Good luck to you!

Great debate. You have quality guests and I always learn something. At the moment I eat higher amounts of animal based protein than I have in decades and I am stronger and heal much better because of it.
