Speaker Michael H. Picard, MD provides a historical perspective and critical evaluation of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) as a disease measure in heart failure (HF). The strengths and limitations of LVEF, as well as potential alternative imaging approaches and biomarkers for HF, are discussed.
