Let's all prey every day for Ann Wilson's full recovery. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Hope she's not in too much pain ; nor very uncomfortable. A fan from the beginning in the 70's, now in his 70's, but still smitten with his Queen of Rock n'Roll Goddess.
One of the most, to be sure . But definitely not the most . There are a lot of great rock tunes that never got radio air time that it dissevered that are a lot better than the ones that did, that were highly underappreciated .
It is hard to beleive that heart and bands of the same era will probably be no more at least for some time to come , the grunge years maybe being at least for now the end of true rock n roll but the seventies was a time when such a large pool of talent put out so much good music better than any era in music
"No more habits, promises and jive" Oh man, I was a sophomore in high school when I saw them in concert. The song makes me feel the same now at 63 as it did at 15! Ann and Nancy were the best! The goat!
There is something mystical about this song, it reaches down to the core of what a human can feel and experience. It's reminiscent of old Europe, a Renaissance type of sound taking us back to the days of long ago. They've been able to reach down deep and pull up something from the past and reintroduce it to a modern world. Beautiful!
You're kidding, right? THAT SONG is and will remain timeless. One of the greatest intros AND songs ever written. If you can't simply appreciate the talent and artistry here, then you're DEAD!!! One of the best bands EVER! Definitely the absolute HOTTEST two females in music. I've loved Nancy deeply since the '70's. Saw them at least 5 times...and they just got better every time.
Ease up, dude. I was being sarcastic with my first sentence, i.e., question. I'm agreeing with you 110%! I wasn't directing that "you're dead" thing at you...just those who can't fathom the beauty of this Heart song, and in particular, the "talent and artistry" that these two women...AND the band, possessed. YES, beautiful AND appreciative, indeed!
Always loved this song. Ann’s vocals just never stop blowing me away. Her flute is just the icing on the cake. The whole band, such amazing energy, musicianship…could go on and on.❤
@@komeradkaput6272 All you need to do is state "my exes took 'em" and I think you have unfortunately told the story of LIFE, friend We're gonna have to make due with this shit, because the vinyl's all gone now
Just picked up the guitar and started picking some notes and ended up playing this. Somehow remembered it 40+ years later. Always loved this generation of Heart
Being from the UK I’d heard of Heart but apart from that big power ballad in the 80’s It’s criminal I know but that’s all I knew of them. I’ve recently come across a lot of their 70’s stuff on You Tube and I’ve been simply blown away, what an incredible band. Great inventive songs, great musicians and possibly the best female, well or male for that matter rock singer I’ve ever heard. It does her no harm either that she was absolutely beautiful. What a band.
I was fortunate enough to see them in concert 3 times. Twice in Mobile and once at a "Day of Rock-and-roll " at an outdoor stadium in New Orleans. Even though they weren't "Headliners" at 2 of the concerts, they certainly played like headliners. They obviously were meant to be recognized as Rock-and-roll "royalty" as they took those stages WAAAY down through there! BRAVO for the many performances that were as good or better than the ones I saw. Ann is a JEWEL and Nancy, who chooses to hide her light under a bushel has GOT TO BE one of the best kept secrets in the genre!
Saw them on a UK tv show in/around 76/77 but did not get to see them live till 82 when they toured with Queen/Joan Jett and i saw them twice in one weekend, have seen them about 22 times now in the UK and loved every minute.
I always wanted more every time I listened to this underrated classic. The mood shift at 2:00 in should have been extended much longer like Rockin Heaven Down, Heartless or the magic of Straight On.
Can't get enough of this one. It's such a beautiful song. Between the beauty of Anne's voice and her crazy good looks, it's almost overwhelming. Then she plays the flute and I melt. 🫠 There's simply never been anyone like Anne Wilson. Absolutely adore her! ❤❤
I feel like everyone else apparently; this band, especially at this time put out more than their share of the absolute best rock of all time. This song, Crazy On You, Barracuda, Magic Man, Little Queen, Kick It Out, Heartless, Straight On, Even It Up, Who Will You Run To and even Bebe Le Strange kick ass like very, very few can. Throw in all their epic ballads and it becomes obvious that they are the cream of the classic hard rock crop. Only Led Zeppelin and maybe Aerosmith, maybe the Stones, the Who?, even Lynyrd Skynyrd or Queen or even the Beatles might compete in some categories, but overall, if you could only listen to (and watch!) one, who would it be?
My brother gave me this album when I was six years old. I listened to it front to back almost daily. Ann probably the biggest singing influence in my life. That and I loved staring at the album cover because they were so beautiful and I wanted to be just like them someday. :)
+Jenn May My brother used to provide and introduce me to some of the best music when I was ltitle. He's like 12 years older than me. Would sometimes let me tag along with his friends to some of the best concerts during the 80's.
My brother always had a joke that he created a musical monster in me. He used to let me take his records and play them. He played guitar so I would pretend I was a news reporter and interview him when I was like 10 years old. Wish I still had all those cassettes of those recordings. That was 32 years ago so they would be pretty funny to listen to now.
I found the album in a second-hand bin and bought it in the 1980s but didnt know them at all before that. I loved it and I feel some of the tunes stand the test of time. Sylvan Song and Dream of the Archer are like The Rain Song by Led Zep and never fail to evoke emotion in me. The 1980s teenage boy in me thought Anne was the most beautiful woman on the planet lol. Did you learn to sing and play in a band? It is funny how something as simple as an album can have a huge influence on the life we end up leading.
This was a great band, playing their own songs and just nailing it in every respect! I saw them only once, around 1979, at Gill Colosseum on the OSU campus. Anne told the crowd she like to play there because her parents met there in college. I was so gutted when the band broke up. Anne has a great voice but a singer is not a band and this was an awesome one.
I saw Heart perform in the late 70's at the Kentucky State fair. Still one of my all time favorite groups. The opening act? Walter Egan (Magnet and Steel)
I've only heard Little Queen and Dreamboat Annie albums; this one is the BEST SONG among the rest. Love 70s Heart, love this song. It's really good, so delicate, so beautiful...
you won't stop now I van tell you. Listen to Say Hello, One Word (live) Bebe le Strange, I've Got The Music In Me (live, a must see!). Later you can tell me what you think of it haha
I remember back in 78' while visiting my brother in Bremerton (Seattle) when his ship was in dry dock..... we were cuzin around the Puget Sound when my sister-in-law said, you gotta hear this band..she pushed the cassette tape in and out came Dream Boat Annie.... With the snow capped alpine mountains weaving in and out and the Sound to my left, I was like.. ❤.. I get it.!!. and have loved them ever since..
I concur. It's because hate destructs us and leads to death; love make us growing up... Love is living, is loving life. In the end all one want is to live and be loved.
I'm up to at least 200 now IV watched this video over 200 times and the part where the solo starts and Ann dances...MY GOD THATS MY DREAM GIRL FOR THOSE 30 OR SO SECONDS...
. My favorite band i was 6 when I discovered my sisters albums . ❤❤❤❤So Love this song . AHHHHHAHHHAHHHAHAAA. My mom called me wild child my dad named me free spirit. My native friends named me RAVENWOLF👸QUEEN O THE WOODS .❤
You got that shit right, brother. One of the few "rock and soul" bands to ever sound just as good, or better, live than they did on their some-of-best-ever-cut albums. I don't care if they are pushing 60, I'm 61, been to at least 5 of their concerts. Both beautiful women, but I was always partial to Nancy. I STILL darn near cream my jeans every time i just look into those mesmerizing eyes, and see that great high leg kick. Mmmmmmm, yum-yum. Wish I really knew. Her hubby is a REALLY LUCKY MAN.
Hell, they're pushing 70. Ann is almost 68. :( I loved her in the 70's and I love her at almost 70. She's the best! I still listen to Dreamboat Annie and Little Queen. Just listened to them again today. FN Excellent!
I heard the poor quality, and almost left. Glad I stayed. It was still great. I think they would still move me if I was listening on a Victrola. And watching is a bonus. I'm 60. Heard Dreamboat Annie, and had tried to sneak in a bar in Seattle, listening through the back door. Concert in '76, then '78 at Cal Jam II while I was in the military in San Berdoo. Couple times later, but never nearly enough.
I just felt my thingy move. I remember when this album came out and my older brothers and sisters brought it home. Ann had (and still does) the best pipes in rock... male or female.
Gosh haven’t seen Anne play the flute in a long time! She was and is awesome but one must give credit to the guitar prowess of Roger Fischer and 3 different guitars, Howard, Nancy and Roger! One of my favorite bands!
Ann , without even trying , as usual , emanates her enchanting , tingles to every single red blooded male worldwide. I so love 💖 both these ladies. Thank you for all the decades of superlative , spine - chilling music. ❤❤
This is what I miss about the '70s Heart...they were very Zeppelin-esque in the way they combined folk, hard rock, and acoustic and electric instruments. They didn't have the guitar firepower of Jimmy Page, and I don't necessarily want them to be a Zeppelin cover band, but I think they had that mystical Zeppelin-esque quality at the time. Plus, those interlude chords sound very similar to the chords from "Stairway to Heaven" ("Ooh, it makes me wonder").
I heard this today for the first time ever. I'm 56, but the overhyped "classic rock" cookie-cutter stations stick with the same songs over and over. Leave it to a small town (Presque Isle, Maine, 101.9 WOZI) to play something less common. Thank you!
the sky was dark this morning when i raised my head i stood at the window- darkness was my bane suddenly a sunbeam arch thrilled me to my weary heart it was the prettiest thing i'd ever seen i knew i had to keep my love keep my love alive keep my love- keep my love alive baby i want you to roll me hold me in your love no more habits, promises and jive ever since i was a baby girl wanted one thing most in this world it was to keep my love- keep my love alive i want to keep my love- keep my love alive keep my love- keep my love alive you're up there under the spotlight your silver trophy shines with all you got, my lord! you must get high you need a whole lot more than money you need more than to survive you gotta keep your love keep your love alive!
Heart has been my favorite band my whole life. Dream come true getting to play this song with Nancy last June! Amazing experience! Words just aren't enough...
That 4 minutes and 21 seconds went by in a flash. You know it's good when you're so lost in the music that time means nothing. Grace Slick, Stevie Nicks and others have been called the "Queen of Rock". So be it....but Ann and Nancy own it.
I started dating my high school sweetheart and Barracuda was playing on the radio, when I went to boot camp I "stole" the lyrics to Love Alive, made a couple of tweaks, and sent it to my love as a poem. Heart has always provided a road map for my romantic life.
and how true is this song she wrote at such a young age? all you have left when all else is stripped away? your heart, your love and your peace.. nothing else means anything if you’re not satisfied in the depths of your heart and soul ❤
Just sheer brilliance.... I have been a fan of Heart since Dreamboat Annie and this is one of my fave tracks... Greatest band ever in my mind. Ann...what a voice! also Nancy too her voice is underrated(These Dreams), and what a guitar player!
One of the many nice things about this song is the addition of Ann playing the flute. Nancy Wilson's guitar playing is always as a virtuoso of the instrument. She can hold her own with anyone.
