ced, when you say west-side where you mean? I used to live on Monitor Ave about3 blocks south of the eisenhower.- just east of Austin blvd. Man I miss it but not the winter.
Stevie is right. She's a great writer with limited range. Ann Wilson had incredible range , & control of her voice. A joy to listen too. Ann ; Thanks to your band &:you For all of this tremendous music ! Blessings , Gary 💞🏖
Ann Wilson was so fine back then and sang with her velvety voice so well. And her sister Nancy was fine, sang and played guitar well, too. They are incredibly talented! 👏🏻🎸😎
She equates to Robert Plant in terms of a frontman/woman. Both are so magical. And her voice is so fucking unique and practically punches you in the face with fucking awesomeness. God damn. She's so graceful. I love Heart.
I think this is Heart's best song, a good representation of Ann's vocal range, great guitar solos/rifts, great drums, plus the keyboard. Barracuda and Crazy On You are both close runner-ups.
Anne still has an amazing voice. She still sounds like she did then. She hasn't lost her insane vocal capabilities when most of her counterparts can't hit the notes anymore. They also rock Led Zeppelin covers. Wish they were touring together this year instead of separately.
" You got that Right " as the Lynard Skynyrd song says! She was my Celebrity crush back in those years and I still have a crush on that woman... she's still 🔥🔥 HOT ! 👍👍😎
I was 8 years old and had an older sister ...SO GLAD....bc I was listening to them at EIGHT YEARS OLD. SO SO LUCKY. I TOO, WAS BLESSED TO BE BORN IN THIS TIME.
Anne's vocals are even better than the studio version, she's getting that feedback from the audience and not holding back. Also in the studio there were a couple more instruments, so here Anne is doing things with her voice to cover some of those gaps.
1977 was my best year. Heart was new on the radio. OMG, men and women were were speaking our language, Heart and Fleetwood Mac. Women took center stage. I met my husband that year and we're still together. No one young now will ever know the depth of thrills this music was when it was new. Even the band themselves had little idea what they meant to us. Still gives me chills. I wish they'd get back together before I die.
I’m 56 years old and I’m the baby in my family and yes I totally 💯 percent understand. Both my sisters were born in the early 50s & my brother 1960 & me 1966. I grew up in the 70s & early 80s and we had not only the best Music 🎼 🎵 🎶 and the best Movies, but even the best of times
@@TheeclassicOne, Today’s music, & really anything after the very early 90s @ best, is complete garbage. I was born in the 70s, & this is the type of music I grew up listening to. It has definitive meaning. Today’s music sounds like crap, & is only a weak form of imitation in an attempt to harness the magic & power of songs like this. They all fall very short of talent, & must rely solely on imagery.
Every time I hear Ann Wilson I get chills, sheer perfection and powerful vocality coupled with an equally impressive band, Ann along with her sister Nancy & the rest of Heart always, always a joy to hear never disappointing throughout the decades, My favourite female rock singer, & one of the all time top tracks of their genre.
Anne and her sister blew a lot of bands off the stage, Roger Fisher was a great guitarist that Nancy held her own with. Haunting tune that stands the test of time. Great Seattle band. Anne has an instantly recognizable voice and her vocal projection is incredible, remember Heart jammed loud as rock should be played yet Anne cuts through the mix. Awesome singer and one of a kind.
I’m 62 and saw them in concert in 1976, what to hell has happened to the music of today. Didn’t realize I was watching the best Rock would ever be at the time!
65 YO today and was sitting in the Denver coliseum throughout the 60's and 70's watching the best rock music ever written and sang in history. My hippy van parked outside full of Hart 8 track carts passing the peace pipe throughout the stadium. Everyone happy, no violence. I thank God for those days, at least the ones I remember...
The magic of no internet. Word of mouth spread the songs on a few radio stations. Then, like nuclear fission, the songs took off. I recall blasting my car radio to this song until the speakers began to buzz, time to back off the volume. That's how we listened to such great music when we "boomers" were kids. Lord, I miss those days.
Happy Birthday! 🎉🎈🥳 You have always been one badass girl... Love you long time!!! 😂 Still listening to you after all these years!🦋 Who else is still listening in 2022? 🤷♀️
Absolutely. I was born in 94 and have pretty much heard it all, from classical and early folk/blues all the way to grindcore, death metal, EDM, rap, ect.. There's a reason I keep on coming back to this. In another life I could almost swear I was there. If you were there and got to live it, I envy you.
I had the great pleasure back in the mid 80's at the Garden State Arts Center in NJ when a friend was working backstage and got us tickets. Cheap Trick opened and I love Cheap Trick, but Heart blew them away 100%. It was fantastic.
@@johnnymfan5065 both women were fine singers, great singers at the top of the list. And at that level it's really a matter of taste. But Ann is hard to beat as an all-around artist - plays and performs on multiple instruments exceptionally well, has numerous live performances in which you can clearly see no two performances from her are ever the same and are quite different. This kind of masterful spontaneity is the mark of a top artist. You can't say the same about Pat Benatar or Linda Ronstadt. This is just the small example.
I missed most of the party as I was 9 but I remember how unregulated we were. Dogs were allowed to run loose in the burbs, we lit off fireworks in the streets and burned camp fires in the local woods. No bike helmets, helicopter parents...seatbelts were low on the priority list.
@@kevn99 No joke on the seatbelts. I don't even think child safety seal or child proofing was a thing back then, either... My parents owned a cabin in a rural area of Colorado, and it was really rural back then, no people or walmart around every turn. I used to go on long hikes by myself for hours in the National Forest behind our cabin. I was probably 8 to 10 years old at the time. These days, I wouldn't dream of letting my own kids just take off unsupervised in the woods at that young.
Same as Jaw Tooth but up here in Canada.....I was a good kid until I got my drivers license and discovered GIRLS and boy did we have fun! We have one thing to hold on to that NOBODY can take away....memories!
Cold, late night so long ago When I was not so strong you know A pretty man came to me I never seen eyes so blue You know, I could not run away it seemed We'd seen each other in a dream Seemed like he knew me, he looked right through me, yeah "Come on home, girl" he said with a smile "You don't have to love me yet, let's get high awhile But try to understand, try to understand Try, try, try to understand, I'm a magic man" Winter nights we sang in tune Played inside the months of moon "Never think of never let this spell last forever" Well, summer lover passed to fall Tried to realize it all Mama says she's worried, growing up in a hurry "Come on home, girl" Mama cried on the phone "Too soon to lose my baby yet, my girl should be at home" But try to understand, try to understand Try, try, try to understand, he's a magic man, Mama, ah He's a magic man "Come on home, girl" he said with a smile "I cast my spell of love on you, a woman from a child" But try to understand, try to understand Oh, oh, try, try, try to understand, He's a magic man, oh, he's got the magic hands Oh's over top "Come on home, girl" he said with a smile "You don't have to love me yet, let's get high awhile" But try to understand, try to understand Try, try, try to understand, he's a magic man, yeah, oh
I have seen Heart over 30 times in concert.....they have been the best....never a disappointment.....great energy, great vocals....fantastic shows each and every time....to me..these ARE the women of ROCK‼️‼️‼️‼️
Their live sound from back then was incredible , paired with such a powerhouse of a band . Lots of space between everything . You don’t here that much anymore . Hope their crew was well paid.
@@robholl5245 Our marriage only lasted 10 years, but we are still the very best of friends. I adore his wife and her kids, and I am blessed because they love me, too. He and I have been together in various relationships for a million years. We're going to keep doing it until we get it right.
This Live version outshines the professional studio version. Wilson's voice is so electrified and playful. You listen to them back to back and you'll find this one's so much livelier but then again Anne sounds terrific in everything she sings.
+Cole McLeod All the Heart songs during the 70s were epic in my opinion. 80s Heart doesn't do it for me but I am obsessed with Heart's music in the 70s.
Today I watched these girls' tribute to Led Zeppelin. Decades after this performance. My god they were good. This is why I'm going through all of their music tonight. And nobody to ever replace them.
If you put her up with men there are several that top her. If you put her with women she is the clear winner. We seperate by sexes when it comes to sports and or vocals and some other things. The female voice is different than the male voice. Its unfair to compare power or range really. Celebrate the sexes my friend. There are differences. Its like putting a womens bathing suit on a man and letting him compete against women....like that would ever happen...
@@zach4216 yeah, I get it . Everyone is equal. Everyone is the same. God forbid we show the differences because someone like you might get offended. We certainly would not want anyone to get offended. Buddy.
I bought this album for my daughter many years ago in Singapore on a layover. The sales girls asked me why? I told her it was for my daughter,. She was amazed that a father would purchase this incredible album for his young daughter.who long since has forgotten it. I have not. Such is life.
My dad brought me a vinyl of Dark Side of the Moon, from London. I didn’t tell him that I already had it. It was the only gift he had ever picked out for me. I kept it unwrapped for 40 years. It disappeared from my sister’s house, replaced with a scratched up copy. You’re a good dad.
Anyone remember when they 1st came out, everyone thought Zeppelin had come out with a new album, but someone said 'no man, it's two chicks!!! Blew everyone's mind...
I think they have their own sound, but they were obviously deeply influenced by Zep. They used to cover Zep songs at their concerts. They even inducted Zep into the R&R hall of fame.
They were great at inside venues. Outside at the monster festivals, OMG. I think the last time I saw them it was Heart, Shanker, and maybe Iron Maiden? Rush? Couple of other bands, too. I forget what the name of the venue was. Up in Northern Illinois. Hell, I forget the other bands, too. So much talent that day. Hot summer day, wild night. Crazy times, good time to be alive. Made it to work the next day, too. Thank you Rock Goddesses.
One of a kind band who will never get the credit thats due to them. Heart broke the ground for many of the female hard rock acts of today. I loved their style and sound
Same here, this line up was electric and fantastic. They were never the same after. No offense, they still have plenty of talent, the Wilson sisters. But this line up was amazing.
Minhas meninas de ouro no mundo maravilhoso do rock and roll. Ann e Nancy, tenho 46 anos e jamais escutei alguma voz feminina tão magnífica qto a de vcs!!! Heart, minha banda de cabeceira, minha banda preferida. Será sempre uma lenda !!! I love forever!!!!💘💘🤘👋👋👋❤❤
Ann is one of the best female vocalists EVER. And man....did Roger Fisher smoke on guitar or what?! They were in top form here. Would love to have been at that show...
I am sad that my kids will never know what music is supposed to sound this band went out and poured their soul into their music for their fans I still play this album when my DJ son isn't scratching and scrapping vinyl to make some crap that would make your ears bleed thank you Heart
Check out their performance of Stairway To Heaven at the Kennedy Center. Just fantastic 💯 Robert Plant said he hates covers of that song, but he had tears in his eyes at the end and that he Ioved theirs. Jason Bonham was on drums. It was a Led Zeppelin tribute and to me, the only line-up that nailed it and then some.
