This was so helpful! Thank you for sharing! It’s nice to see how flexible you were with adapting it to your family’s needs. That’s actually really reassuring to be reminded that we don’t have to do it All!

I absolutely love HOD, but my 7th grader is not a big reader and has ADHD so we went with something else this year. We did Preparing with the extensions last year. I’m really hoping to get back to HOD next year with my girls who are 1st grade and preschool right now. I did about half of Little Hearts for His Glory for kindergarten and she did not enjoy the read alouds at all so we just swapped out those for other books. I love that you can still do your own math and LA also.

Yes it is hard when we love it!! I know with my one son who has adhd tendencies (never tested) there was the years I did the basics and just handed him books from HOD. We didn’t follow a guide but he was learning. 😉

This was so helpful as I’m trying to map out my children’s path with HOD! Love seeing your flexibility in using the program. You mentioned WG will count as the World History credit. Can you expound upon that a little? Is it more history than geography? TIA!

So glad this was helpful. I am sorry yes I counted it as World Geography- I would say it expands more on the history of how men spread through the the world and discoveries made. Starts with Ur, Egyptian, Petra, Assyrians, etc. You map areas as you talk of them, also includes Wonders of the World (also ancient) You can see the Table of Contents on the web site😉

We’re new to HOD and I’m planning to use it this fall. But I can’t decide on level placement for my girls. They are 13, 11, 9, 6, and 3 (will be 4 this summer). I know where my two youngest would place but I can’t decide for the older 3 girls.

Very exciting!! I can make a suggestion but I don’t know the level of you older girls. Possibly could combine 11 and 9 in Preparing with older doing extensions (of course math and LA at her level). For your 13 year old it depends on what kind of work she has done, how is her reading and writing whether she she start in a lower or higher middle school guide. You can call HOD? 🙏❤️
