I believe Robert was very emotional because of his best friend John Bonham(LZ's drummer) who died very young at 32 years old and was thinking about him...especially watching John 's son Jason playing the drums in this performance. A memorable performance by Heart for sure!
@SuperMoofie
@SuperMoofie 7 месяцев назад
Not only that, but that was a very powerful tribute, and Ann followed Robert's inflections and tonality to the letter. He was already emotional, but once the full choir came forth, wow, he was struggling to contain his emotion. Especially when she did that gut wrenching note sustain omg, that just tears thru your soul, and I think that's the point where he really struggled. God, who wouldn't. That has to be the most expressive note I've ever heard sung in a tribute. Ann was magnificent. She sounds like Robert in some places. See how Jimmy Paige was following the notes during the guitar solo.

Robert is also Jason's godfather. What would have also added to his emotion was that he asked Jason to go with him and the band to this and Jason had reportedly had to decline because he had 'another commitment' - namely to play drums for Robert in this tribute 🙂

The lady you asked about whose hands were up because she was feeling it is Debbie Allen. She's a well known actress and choreographer. This was definitely a "going to church" performance.

Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. This is one of the best tributes to Led Zeppelin with Ann & Nancy doing the classic song "Stairway To Heaven". No one else could have pulled it off as well. "Heart" have had so many great hits such as "Magic Man", "Crazy On You", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc.

Jack Black did the introduction, This was the Kennedy Center Honors that is done every December. The President is always there and the audience is full of entertainers. Lenny and Dave Grohl performed. Tons of stars in the audience - you saw Anne Hathaway, Debbie Allen, Yo Yo Ma, Stephen Colbert, Tom Hanks and others. Letterman sitting next to Jimmy Page.

Led Zeppelin's lead singer, Robert Plant, was brought to tears because of the drummer, Jason Bonham. Jason is the son of John Bonham, the band's original drummer and Robert's best friend, whose death in 1980 resulted in the end of the band. They had invited Jason to represent his Dad at this ceremony honoring Led Zeppelin. But Jason told them he had a scheduling conflict. The conflict turned out to be walking out on stage to surprise the band by playing the drums during the tribute. Look at how surprised and happy Robert is when they introduced Jason at the beginning. The tears came as Robert thought about his friend and was sad he could not be there. It's also very poignant to watch Jason look up toward heaven, thinking undoubtedly about his Dad, as Anne sings the word heaven in last line of the song.

In a interview with Robert Plant Robert said it brought tears to him seeing Jason Bonham John Bonham's son playing the drums in his dad's honor made him proud! And he cried because he misses his good friend John Bonham.. That's why everyone was wearing bowler hats in honor of John Bonham! Because John Bonham used to wear bowler hats all the time on stage!

Jason was also playing on his dad's drum set, Jason is also Robert Plant's godson. This was performed in 2012, Anne Wilson was 62 years old at the time of this performance.

Thanks. That was going to be my comment.❤ I also heard that RP called an LA radio station and offered them money to stop playing it. He says it's not that he hates the song but it's not his favourite. Which is Kashmir. He also says those lyrics came out of a 23 year old mind, so don't ask him what they mean.😅

Ann and Nancy stated that Led Zeppelin heavily influenced their music and a reason they wanted to start a band. Over the decades they've covered many Zeppelin songs. In fact 46 years ago, August 16th 1977, I saw them in Asbury Park, NJ at Convention Hall. While waiting outside to go in someone had a transistor radio and word spread that Elvis had died. For the last song of their encore they did Zeppelin's "Rock n Roll" and dedicated it to the King.

Right, all the artists on stage at the end had performed various Zep songs in tribute, as the members received the Kennedy Center Honors. Jack Black was emcee. The whole event is phenomenal, & online. Don't believe anyone could have done more justice to the official #1 Classic Rock song of all time, than Ann & Nancy Wilson, & Mr. Jason Bonham. Thanks for your reaction.

What a good choice, your channel couldn't stop reacting to the best cover in the best tribute to the gods of Rock. Thanks and congratulations. I have watched this video hundreds of times and see the faces of the components, what were they thinking? especially Robert, excited to see Jason on drums, good memories of his youth on any stage, melancholy? For whatever reason I always let out some tears that are impossible to avoid. Maybe the same thing happens to you in private, although I have already seen moist eyes. Keep on rocking ❤

So the son (Jason Bonham)of the drummer (John Bonham) that died and essentially stopped the band, was invited by Robert Plant to attend this with them. Jason said he had previous engagements and couldn't attend. The previous engagement was this gig because Heart had already contacted him. They didn't know he'd be drumming his father's part of the song in tribute. Another reason Robert was teary eyed. At least that is what the Internet says. I like to believe it

You guys were freaked out about seeing Jack Black. he gave the intro. Led Zep doesnt give permission to use their music in movies. When he was doing School or Rock he sent them a heartfelt message begging them to let them use one of their songs in his movie. and they gave permission. so he's very appreciative of that.

@@thomasord8636 they were not original members they auditions. I believe 2 brothers started the band which was eventually kicked out by them. Did u not notice the shift in artist during their HOF performance? They only played one song and pushed the original members out for their second performance. They did not even invite the founder, the one behind their original sound. I can keep going how they used sex and their influence to push out the original members. How they could not write anything (as they kicked him out) until their label forced a writer and producer which was behind much of their later success.
