Nancy Wilson (guitar & backing vocals) sang lead on 'These dreams' after studio producers suggested that it would be perfect for her voice and the self-titled album in 1985... It was co-written by Bernie Taupin, who was Elton John's songwriter. Nancy loved the song but when it was time for her to do the vocals in the studio, she had a cold that day ... But she gave it a shot and in the chorus, her voice cracked and sounded rough trying to hit the high notes... However, the producers loved that imperfection - it sounded 'bluesy' and they kept that take... Ann Wilson sang the harmony vocals. 'These dreams' became a top 10 single in the US and UK... the self-titled 'Heart' album sold 5x platinum in the US w/ Heart given an image makeover in the 80's like a 'hair' band... After 2 previous Heart albums failed commercially, it was the hit record they needed to re-establish the band in the 80's... However, the Wilson sisters said that they felt that they had compromised their musical integrity and given in to the music industry in order to have a hit record again.

As the story goes with this song, Nancy wasn't feeling well when they recorded this. Her voice was raspy and hoarse, and she didn't like how it sounded. She wanted to do another take when she felt better. The engineer and everyone else liked the first take, hoarseness and all. That's the one that made the album.

While Ann was the primary lead vocalist for Heart, nearly every Heart album (except Dreamboat Annie and Magazine) has a song with Nancy on lead vocal. Treat Me Well, Nada One, Raised On You, The Situation, One Word, Love Mistake, These Dreams, There's the Girl, Strangers of the Heart, Stranded, I want Your World to Turn, Will You Be There, Things, I need the Rain, Led to One, I'm fine, Hello Moonglow, Hey You, Sunflower, Walking good, Two.

This is the most played ▶️ song 🎵 of Nancy Wilson. She and then drummer Denny Carmassi were born many years before me in San Francisco. Carmassi was in Montrose. That was founded in San Francisco. The lead singer was Sammy Hagar. He left and joined Van Halen. Alan Fitzgerald was their bass guitarist and keyboardist 🎹. He left and founded Night Ranger.

Nancy Wilson when they recorded this was under the weather. They tried to re-record after she got better but they could not duplicate how good she sounded while sick. So they kept it as is.
