You saw him play the Elven Minstrel and not draw anything from his deck, hence Malygos and Kobold Illusionist are already in his hand, as well as 4 Razor Petals and so he only needs the Deathrattle spell. That would have been a good turn to play your Azalina Soulthief, even though you'd give him a decent hand.

The main problem I really have with hearthstone is the fact that you're forced into building certain deck archetypes. Either you use one super good package, or you use some other super good package, and you fill up the deck with some of the good cards and maybe a few tech cards. You can't build a deck that doesn't really use one of the big package things, as you'll end up with an underwhelmingly weak deck. Maybe it's a powercreep problem, but it just feels like each few expansion sets most classes are forced into a few autobuild deck archetypes which makes the deckbuilding less interesting. And to add insult to injury, there are always both hyper aggressive decks and control decks with broken combos which invalidate most creative decks that try to fill the same sort of archetype. Back in the early stages of hearthstone I could perform with my own concoctions. For example, I remember getting pretty far with some midrange paladin before GvG (so before any midrange tools) that had a balanced set of cards that seemed to perform in the meta. I also did decently with weird control hunter lists for example. That creativity doesn't seem to exist anymore; you just play one of the super good packages. For example in this video you just play the baku style and let the deck build itself, or you could play taunt baku and the deck builds itself even more. It doesn't feel as creative and thus I don't really have as much fun.

That first game shows perfectly how HS has totally spiraled out of control a long time ago. Second game as well. Third game as well. It's a milked game that turned sour a long time ago.

I think another one of the big problems with Hearthstone is the RNG. While it isn't just utter nonsense anymore like it was for a while, the fact that rouge (like in the 2nd rouge game) can shuffle 10 random cards from their opponent's class makes the game less enjoyable overall because either a) you get good stuff and your opponent is upset because they can't play around literally every spell from their class, b) you get bad stuff and your upset because you just diluted your deck with trash, or c) you get middling things and the game gets delayed for a few extra turns with no meaningful change. The same goes for cards like Arcane Glyph and Shadow Visions, and any other Discover or "get random" card. IMO it's unfun, and borderline unfair, to have cards that, within certain parameters, can be literally any spell in the game. You can't logically play around it, the best you can do is assume worst case and hope you're wrong.

37:40 what a shit design. If you don't know what happened, the game doesn't even tell you. You never see the card , you just lose.
