*Hey guys. This channel will no longer be exclusively Total War content. It just doesn't hold my interest enough these days. I listened to your feedback from my possible retirement videos and majority indicated for paradox style games. This series had already been recorded then and was planned for the secondary channel but I've decided it's not working out for the secondary channel and so I'm going to stop posting there. The content meant for that channel will now come here. This is phase 1 of my retirement from Total War. Everything now depends on whether Three Kingdoms: Total War is going to be great or not*
LegendofTotalWar. Thanks for all of the years of total war you have given us man. I hope you one day revisit your roots, if it becomes fun for you again. When you have fun making videos, I have fun watching them.
I'm going to finish posting the last few episodes for the japan campaign and the ck2 campaign then that's the end for the time being. Not going to take the channel down, it's just going to not be active for at least a while
Okay Legend. Just PLEASE don't pull a Coldmeat247, (another total war youtuber), and just leave your people forever, man. Inactivity is fine, take as much time as you feel you need. Just don't die on me brother.
It's great to see you play other games on the channel now as well. I think you'll be able to find quite the audience in the Paradox-community with your unique style of commentary.
Well he found me already haha. I'm momentarily changing form a guy who has around 200 achievemetns in EU4 to a total noob in HOI4. But after finally watching a long episode with someone who explains almost every little detail of his actions and thoughts, my skill level upgraded from total noob to noob. I know legend is not gonna read my comment, but he is really good at clearing up many question marks of mine.
@Elder Joe I had to write my graduation exam in history about Bismarck. He was a great politician but he was also partly responsible for the downfall of the Austrian empire (I'm from Vienna). The brother war in 1866 is always a pain in the ass to read about .... from the austrian side at least, since apparentally it was a very close win ^^.
Fucking awesome to see your style of game play and commentary on different games now.. Stoked for the future of your channel bro, ive been a sub sense your first blitz campaign and i think this was a good choice on your part.
I wonder if Heir of Carthage, Alex the Rambler and Warrior of Sparta all feel the same as Legend or if they're just pretending they love the games now because that's their niche on RU-vid
Def not a mouse Stop asking I started watching him after he stopped Total War and only found out he ever did them by watching other people's old total war videos.
It's fun to watch Legend throwing away factory production and tossing divisions here and there randomly in HOI4 while he's exceptionally meticulous and greedy in TW series ))
If any new player is watching this video: Legend is a good player, but I want to add a couple tips. - You change production priority by clicking and dragging the various items up and down in the production window. - His goal is world conquest, but it's better to puppet Ethiopia. You can train extra divisions using their manpower and they will also train their own divisions. - A light infantry template is actually useful for Italy. Something like 5 INF with ENG, ART and LOG as support companies. These are good to defend against naval invasions and excellent in Africa, where resistance is usually light, but there's a lot of land with terrible infrastructure. - The starting italian navy is actually able to deal some serious damage to the royal navy in the mediterranean. You can get a significant armor bonus on capital ships via advisors+naval doctrine. His choice to heavily prioritize industry and infantry is also good, but it's not the only option.
I've been really curious to see how you do on this game in particular. I'm looking forward to seeing this group of videos even if I am late to the party.
Glad to see you're going through with the decommissioning of the second channel, i think subs and views may dip for a while but overall in the long run the channel will become more diverse and hopefully you'll grow accordingly. Excited for the future of this channel, good luck man.
19:14 you didn't have to disband them. You could've just converted those five divisions into the template you wanted them in, instead of disbanding them. Wasn't necessary. This is why you should take advice from the players, because we can provide you with sufficient and advanced knowledge of the game mechanics. Don't let us tell you what to do in your play-through though, just let us inform you of things, and take that knowledge into heart. Do what you want with that knowledge though.
I suggest you don't watch Japan videos because they're done on the first patch of the game. There have been too many changes with the game since then (3 dlcs worth of content)
Very good Campaign I would have to say. I enjoyed it very much and im glad I stumbled across your video. I do have a Q tho. When you change your unit "template" do your old unit get the new template as well?
Ston3bridg3 Viking I think you would've understood the mechanic by now but yes the current troops in the field with the old template will change to the new one
Absolutely, the difficulty and fun dealing with that is about skill of AI, not crippling your basic resources to live and universally buffing AI to sky, this can be a secondary type of difficulty setting for someone, not the main and only one.
Good job on picking the crossover game, mate. I do wonder if Legend will ever figure out he can drag and drop the production and construction queues now :P
Glad to see you giving this a try. A bit of basic advice for Italy is to fortify the eastern alps if Germany isn’t doing too hot. Stalin can really fuck you up.
Legend, I've always wanted to see you play this game tbh. I'd thought that you'd love it, I have the suggestion of playing with mods in your spare time to make the game even more expansive and enjoyable you don't have to if you don't want to though cause I know you don't like suggestions unless useful. There are mods that have alternate timelines like KaiserReich and then there's Millennium Dawn which makes the world modern times. Also they have cold war mods as well.
Legio XXI Rapax To be honest I’m Italian and as a kid I used to read a lot ww2 books, there was one that described all the Italian ship battles and let me tell you that it was almost shameful, Italy’s whole organization was messed up and I really felt sorry for the soldiers whose life were thrown away like nothing. Btw the author of the book was also Italian
Legio XXI Rapax he was not shaming the soldiers who risked their lives, he was simply stating that Italy had no business being in that war. The only positive outcome would have required total capitulation of all Allied powers. Not the soldiers' faults, but rather the fault of the Nazis and Mussolini. However, Italians got completely hosed in the Treaty of Versailles, so it is understandable that they turned to Germany
Me: *sees him disperse the downgraded infantry* Also me: "why is he dispersing valuable desert infantry" (Context: I use them in africa due to the low supply needs, I throw 48 (2×24)in Libya and send the 2 groups east and west, after the army in west finished of the french I send them to reinforce the egypt front and then they garrison all of africa)
I did exactly this in my Italy campaign and Yugoslavia was guaranteed by France. I single handedly started the war on the allies before Germany was even set. Had to conquer France on my own lol
Will you do another gameplay series with that supermod called Black ICE? If so, would you consider playing with a small country like Bulgaria for example? Have a nice day mate, love your videos.
I saw a trick in another video the other day for switching land doctrine. You research the next doctrine in that focus tree that already has one completed for just one day, then switch over to the new doctrine and the game will ask if you want to switch doctrines. Click yes and then you can start researching the 2nd level of the new doctrine right off.
I thought you played EU4 in your other channel, but I've looked through the videos and it seems that I was wrong. I think including EU4 in your channel would be pretty awesome, especially for players like me that find the game appealing but haven't played it yet.
Hey i am a Hoi 4 player, and ive always had difficulty on understanding how italy is played well, i am now 13 minutes into your video. I find it very educational, and i shall be watching this campaign when i have time. I am a pritty hardcore Total war player aswell, Cannot wait for three kingdoms as i am a huge dynasty warriors fan lol Even after 13 minutes, you earned my subscribe :) Keep up the good work. If you are looking for someone for a multiplayer game in hoi4 , feel free to add me (steam Dieltdaan), and if your not, well than your not XD
As i am further in your video i do have to correct you on something perhaps something u can perhaps take to future campaigns, but ofcourse it depends of what you want to do. the balaeric islands (excuse me for wrong spelling probably) are quite usefull against the brittish, If in any case you end up fighting england, your fleets basicly get swallowed, the islands provide and extra airbase for you to put your fighters/naval bombers on. If you are an italy that is naval focussed the balearic are a must (i believe) (btw i do not mean to critisize, just putting it out there)
Jacob Ramirez for better political power gain. It costs pp to go thru national focuses. I'm assuming hes trying to build up his government as quickly as possible and then do some more national focuses once hes filled out his staff
Just fyi, those "Light tank 1" look like Fiat CV35s, which don't really qualify as a tank imo. It was a tiny 3 ton box with 2 breda machineguns. Didn't even have a turret, they just stuck out the front. I wouldn't be surprised if they're supporting the mechanised infantry rather than the other way around! Even at the time it was refered to as a "Tankette" rather than an actual tank. It's probably closer to a British Bren gun carrier only with a roof. LOL
Why so many factories are making support equipment?!?! You need at least 7 or 10 for inf eq, 3/5 for support, at least 5 for arty, 1 for cars, 2/3 for ltanks, the rest for cas or fighters. In m opinion that's the most optimal factory output.
I of course don't know if you have discovered it already, but generals who have a free skillpoint have a little button in the bottom left corner of their portrait when commanding an army. It can easily be missed, I think they should make it a bit more obvious.
If you take mobile warfare doctrine and follow the desperate defense side you get the same 5% manpower as well as several additional buffs not granted by mass assault.
What the format will be for new non-total war series? Are you going to cover every step you make or cut the tedious bullshit in the future parts? Cause Paradox games, for example, have A LOT of boring parts (coming from a hard paradox games fan). It's not fun staring at the map of Earth for an hour. Total War at least has battles, but Paradox games are pure map-scrolling simulators (mixed with a little bit of strategic management, just a tiny bit).
Legend, glad to see you doing more stuff on this channel as well. I'm curious, will you be doing a channel poll for some new games to look out for? Or are you just going to pick the "consensus" type stuff? If the former, awesome! If the latter, I'd love to see you do Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance :) Anywho, I'll finish watching this glorious gameplay
Just for future campaign reference since this one is auto recorded. Go 5 speed for non war, and buy the other DLC even though they are kinda useless they hold some important elements of gameplay but most I reccomend is Waking the Tiger.
An obvious decision to be made - total war died long ago, and CA is not going to invest into a new engine that the series is in dire need of. Instead they contuniue to churn out as many copy-and-pasted titles with reused assets as they can. No wonder that CA is losing their loyal fans who move on to pdx games.
Two years later, they buffed Ethiopia with more units and protected Yugoslavia by French entente. Also Greece is protected by Romania and Romania is a target of Russia. Well Italy was too strong compared to history, so it's good that it is harder, but Italy still only has a fantasy route instead of historical. Italy just is fine as a tutorial faction but shouldn't be a major power.
Sorry man, I’ve been subbed for maybe 4 years(?) but these games just don’t do it for me. I’ll still stick around, but these games are too complicated for me. Probably cos I haven’t played them before. I just don’t enjoy any of these paradox games. However. I’m glad you’ve brave enough to make the change after so many years of exclusively playing TW on this channel.
I watched HOI4 memes then bought and played it for about 5 hours and i've picked up the basics, it helps when watching playthroughs and it is genuinely fun- though i admit before playing it i didn't have a scooby what was happening.
MeLikeRed I don’t really play video games much anymore, but I’ve been playing TW from Rome 1 until Rome 2. I gave up after that. Might give it a go if one of these show up on a Stream sale or something. I’m guessing they’re all basically the same? (stellaris, HOI, CK and EU4 I mean.)
I would recommend Stellaris or HOI4 both are the easiest to get into. Most people who get into paradox games nowadays first play the game that appeals to them the most. SO try the one you like the most and don't be shy to open up the console and cheat a little in your first play through.
Chris Theo well, he might not be very experienced in this game, but he is very stubborn..... looking at how lomg his Japanese campaign kept going i am sure he will manage to form Rome at some point
