“I’m not crying, you’re crying.” Oh, I totally was. I really appreciate your emotional honesty and openness, Derek - it’s incredibly refreshing and healthy to see other men (especially straight men) cry, given everything society tries to teach us about men being stoic and unemotional (except for anger, which is somehow supposed to be socially acceptable). Also, great insight into Charlie’s mental health issues in the wrapping of the present scene - I haven’t seen any other reactor notice and articulate that moment, so bravo. The one thing I kept picking up on in this episode though, was the way Charlie keeps grabbing or holding his upper left arm when he’s stressed. After his confession in the final ep of s2 that repeated gesture makes me genuinely worried. And finally, I’m glad I’m not the only person who feels so protective of Nick and Charlie - they are so precious to me.
Very astute observations about OCD. Charlie excessively ruminating on things, wanting everything to be “perfect,” and struggling a lot when he feels out of control has been a theme throughout all three seasons. The mentions of rules and “a voice in his head that isn’t him” in this episode were also telling.
Sahar appeared in the comics where Imogen didn't even exist. She was introduced in the second season in one of the earliest episodes. She roomed with the girls at the hotel in Paris. It's a shame they didn't use her more in the series, but she didn't appear out of nothing.
I'm aware she's been around lol. My issue with her just stems from them basically trying to insert her as if she's always been part of their close friend group.
This season’s premiere of Abbott Elementary was about letting HR know when you’re dating a fellow teacher. And the new show English Teacher (which is hilarious!) did a thing on it too.
I think Sahar was officially introduced last season in a scene where Tara and Darcy are talking about the Prom and she says she'd love to help organize it and has theme ideas. But yeah, she's the most side of side characters
Yep. In the comics she shows up when Tara, Darcy, and Elle need a fourth roommate in Paris. She actually predates Imogen as a character (Imogen doesn’t even exist in the comic), but yes, she never has a ton to do.
Isaac and Imogen get a lot more character development, though. Even in the comics, Sahar is just kind of there. I feel like the only reason she exists at all is because they needed a 4th girl roommate in Paris.
What's funny is that they *did* have a scene like the one you're describing where Sahar introduced herself. Maybe you missed it and folks that know her from the comics didn't? At any rate, your Sahar-hate (Saharphobia?) is still hilarious. Don't ever change! 😂
I think she was on the dance committee and asked Tara, Darcy, and Elle if they'd help out. She also played in the band at the dance and Imogen kind of started liking her.
Re the teachers and HR: My husband and I both work in similar roles at a small company. He had been there a couple years, so they had to delay my interview to write that part of the HR policies to ensure that we didn’t end up working too closely, or somehow reporting to each other. As much for the company’s protection as protection for us and our relationship - the whole work/life separation.

During the Truth or Dare ep last season Imogen mentioned that she and Sahar were like childhood best friends and their friendship changed when Imogen got a boyfriend. I think the show throwing her into episodes here and there is a way of showing her and Imogen kinda rebuilding that friendship, kinda, sorta, maybe 🤷♀️
The funny thing about Sahar is that she's actually a canon character from the comics and Imogen was made up for the TV show. So comic fans were having the same "who the heck is this and why is she here?" thoughts about Imogen in Season 1 😂
I still stand by my hope that James and Issac just fall into some sort of suitable relationship. Sex isn’t a requirement, nor candlelit dinners: I used to know a pair of men - one gay, one straight - who had that depth of emotional connection, and they were well aware of that. Isaac and James click so bloody well together, in ways that the others don’t, and Isaac seems to have noticed.
The I hate Sahar club... 🤣😂 dude you are hysterical. I have to say that season 3 is outstanding. The only character i dislike,a lot ,is David Nicks older brother. Older brother needs to go back to prison.
I’ve been thinking it’s connected to ocd with how much he talks about perfection because he’s not that he thinks he’s overweight or calorie counting or anything so it has to be something else I also don’t think his parent would’ve gotten mad at him about if anything they can probably sense something was wrong I feel like Charlie was just using that as an excuse not to tell them
Forms? Not for when you are equals. (problems happen between management and underlings) I'm not sure if Charlie reveals "enough" in this conversation - but in the US, you would be expected to bring this to a Guidance Counselor, for example, if you felt something warranted attention.
I do agree they didn't introduce Sahar well at all. It felt really awkward how they tried to fit her in. yes i know she was in the books. But if they chose not to include her in the first season why try and back pedal? They just threw her in like she was always apart of the friend group and thought we wouldn't notice. Should have just introduced her as a new friend.
