Bought a telescopic stand with this and found it very useful for adjusting height/position and the power lead extension.

Don’t forget to turn her over every 5 minutes. 😄 They definitely fire out some heat. 👌

@@GeeWhizRS she definitely had a nice glow,that’s a good bit of advice.with outdoor heating it’s not worth going cheap!

Great review, so glad you put it on RU-vid. What’s the heat like directly above the heater? I’m thinking about fitting one to my aluminium pergola but it has a louvred roof, don’t want it to damage the paint.

I can take some temperature readings if you like but consider that the unit itself is painted (maybe powder coated) aluminium. If that’s okay I dare say you have nothing to fear. I would be more concerned of combustible materials above rather that aluminium.

@@GeeWhizRS yeah that’s a fair point. Only concern is that one was designed with that level of heat in mind and one wasn’t. I’m fairly sure I watched another review that mentioned the direction of the best and that’s why I searched again today. Have you tried the Aldi 2kw oval patio heater? I was very surprised how good it was for £40 but then again I have nothing to compare it to
@GeeWhizRS

@@laughatfootball The heat is very directional, it's not like it wafts up. The reflector pushes the heat forward so there is very little heat coming out of the vents. I ran the heater for 5 minutes and the top outside case rose from 22°C to 28°C. You can barely feel any heat out of the vents.

@@GeeWhizRS fantastic, thank you so much for doing that, it really helps me decide.

Great review. Just bought it too. very effective ! I would like to be able to make it go side to side a bit (simple version though compared to you ! not planning on using an arm). So planning on just using the middle hole in the mounting bracket (and take the wing bolts out) as you did as the beginning of the video but i wonder if the weight would not be too much for just one bolt ?
@GeeWhizRS
@GeeWhizRS 3 года назад
If you use an M8 bolt and some penny washers it will be absolutely fine. Just use the existing 8mm holes. What I found with mine was that because I have mounted it on the hinge, the hinge itself was flexing in windy conditions which of course translated to heater wobble. I had to move the M8 fixing hole nearer to the bend in the mounting bracket to reduce the leverage on the hinge. I also needed to trim the bracket a bit shorter as it fouled on the heater bracket and restricted movement. See here ibb.co/Fb3LT01. It's spot on now. If you are just mounting to the wall you won't have any issues I'm positive.

Where do you get the long bracket from
@GeeWhizRS
@GeeWhizRS Год назад
They’re widely available. I can’t recall where I got mine from but they’re called ‘hook and band hinges’. I think mine was 900mm.

@GeeWhizRS
@GeeWhizRS 3 года назад
@@gix3r Go for it. A couple of tips if you do... Have a look here ibb.co/Bn5Cn5f I added a bolt over the top of the hinge so that you couldn't just lift the arm off and walk away with it. I also added a stud to the wall that passes through a hole in the arm so I can secure it to the wall. It actually doesn't need the nut on the stud to stay in place. Have a look here ibb.co/Fb3LT01 where it shows the heater being mounted further up the wall bracket to reduce the leverage (and therefore twisting effect) on the hinge arm. Good luck.

I'd love a video on how to install the arm. Just bought a heater myself and would love to fix it like this

I hear that. It is very good though. I’ve been using it quite a lot recently even in cold weather. As long as it’s not too windy it’s very capable. 👌

@@GeeWhizRS I am just renting where I am, do you know if the stand they offer is any good, does it adjust up and down? Its expensive as well, so wondering if I should just try make another plan!

@@GeeWhizRS the stands are good ,didn’t go with the stainless one but the black telescopic one around £100.it’s very stable and has a good height range.
