I’m not American but I see kindness in Biden’s heart, and loads of common sense. It’s such a shame how many people support the trump, who has not one shred of kindness in him, only greed and arrogance. Such a shame. 💙💙💙
There's such a decency about Biden, it's physically relaxing to me. His mention of dignity is so important.... So important that someone in power understands the need of human dignity.
I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. In such stressful times, he has a calming effect! He truly cares about people and believes in America. I pray he gets re-elected and we take the House back and get a stronger Senate. I would love to see him accomplish so much of what he wants to with the backing of Congress…much like the successes and accomplishments of FDR with the HUGE majority he had working with him!
I grew up a Republican and voted Republican in almost every election (REAL Republican, not this "MAGA" insanity gripping the party now). Then I listened hard to Joe Biden when he ran for President in 2008. His international and domestic views resonated with me and although I REALLY liked John McCain, I decided to back Biden. Then Barak Obama got the nomination and I was going to go back to supporting McCain when my wife (staunch Democrat) tried to sway me to vote for Obama. I told her that if Obama picked Biden as his running mate, then I'm sold. I've been a staunch Democrat ever since, and especially now with the fascists on the march - I'm a fanatical D with hopes the Rs will purge this cancer and find their way back to the Grand Old Party. What a good and decent man our President is.
European here: I don't think there has ever been any person better and longer and more intensely prepared for this grueling position. He and his team get a huge amount done for the American people. And the world. As long as he picks a good team and keeps listening to his experts he should be okay.
Really? He's slow? He's incoherent? Not from my seat, he wasn't. He knows the score. He's a great man and I'm proud that he's our President!! Thanks for sharing this!💐🥇🇺🇲 Only Joe in 2024!!
I'd rather listen to an hour of "sleepy" Joe Biden than one minute of the other guy. Clear, full formed ideas, communicated in a common sense way. Thank you, Heather.
For the President, the quiet, respectful tone set by Dr. Richardson for this conversation must be such a refreshing change from his usual interviews with the press, which are often tension-filled. It's simply enjoyable seeing the old fellow relax and engage.
Search "President Joe Biden press conferences" and/or "interviews", "2019-2024". It'll take time to view any/all of them. Please make sure to plan accordingly. Cheers to you enjoying the calm wisdom and President Biden's soothing voice of reason. 💙
RIGHT AT THE START- she thanks him for speaking with her, and he waves off saying "Oh, please". That shows you how he understands, the moment, this opportunity he's getting. It's a compliment to you Ms. Richardson.
A compliment from a puppet of a permanent political class memeber who's worked in tandem with the unelected globalist oligarchies(not all) who funds the activist intellectuals devoid of objectivism which is what she represents(the rot within our institutions).
How refreshing. No ranting, and raving and blaming the other guy. No talk of me, me, me, I'm the best, no name calling etc. It was all about we the people and our rights as individuals. Great, respectful interview.
His interviews are rigged. The White House writes the questions and extensively rehearsed. They panic when he goes off script. His entire career had been based on lies and confusion with our foreign enemies.
To me, the best humility is honesty. You don't pretend that you're better than others and you don't put yourself down by regarding yourself as worse than others. You just accept that you are where you are at this stage of your life, and that you'll keep on working at some areas that need improvement. @@itsajahthing
And Trump tells his rallies that Biden can't string two sentences together! Can anyone imagine Trump responding with even the slightest intelligence to her questions? This is the second of their conversations, and the other was just as thoughtful and analytical.
Still haven't figured it out yet huh?. She's an activist intellectual devoid of objectivism. They're both transnationalist socialists/globalist socio fascists(Third Worldism) neoheglian cultists/woke cultists and are on the wrong side of history. Trump 2024!!!
Well we didn't get to hear the whole interview in its entirety. The 5 separate clips they pulled together to make this short six minute video makes him sound eloquent and well spoken, but is that reality? I'd like to see the non edited version for comparison.
Wonderful, thank you. It is amazing how much faith in fellow humans and optimism toward life he retains after the tragedies he has endured. And anyone who thinks he's too old to be reelected - just compare this to Trump's meandering word salads.
Yes. He comes away from tragedy with strong faith in people and optimism...vs. the previous guy who is motivated by grievance, hate and revenge despite having been handed a silver spoon from day one.
@@tracyzaiss9593you obviously lack the ability to discern between such things. See LOVE is many things including Truth and the truth is there's only two genders/sexes. If you lack the ability to discern between a loving rebuke and hateful malicious bullying than that's a fruit of unbelief/sin. TRUMP 2024!
You call that an interview? A real journalist would have asked tougher questions that relate to Americans struggling to make ends meet under this disgraceful President!
Right an activist intellectual devoid of objectivism and a puppet of the permanent political class and the unelected globalist oligarchies (not all) who fund her career. They're both examples of what's wrong with the United States.
President Biden may be old (only 3 years older than trump), but he has a wealth of lived experience working for others, full of empathy and kindness. The alternative is someone who's done nothing unless it was for himself. He has no experience actually serving anyone. The Presidency is not a role that is easy or meant for people who refuse to work for all of us.
The only "policies" ꓕЯump really cared about included: ● Ingesting junk food ● Whining ● Tweeting at everyone about everything ● Exalting autocrats ● Alienating the world (excepting autocrats) ● Threatening (former) U.S. allies ● Feuding with everyone - consequential or otherwise ● Attending Vanity Rallies ● Hearing his own name - even if it's spoken by himself ● Using the presidency to enrich himself and his family Basically, all the thoughtless pursuit of instant gratification that an emotionally damaged newborn might exhibit. None of which should be reasonably expected of a 77 year old man. Any of his actions that resemble actual policy are simply the reactions of an intractable contrarian. In his entire life, ꓕЯump has said two true things: 1) "When I look at myself in the first grade and I look at myself now, I’m basically the same. The temperament is not that different." - September 8, 2015 theweek.com/speedreads/575962/donald-trump-tells-biographer-hes-same-now-first-grade 2) “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters,” Donald Trump boasted in 2016.
It was indeed a real pleasure to hear an articulate and thoughtful man that thinks the best of people instead of complaining about those that disagree with him.
@@RlsIII-uz1kl Tired, old culture war 💩 coming straight from Russia - that’s all you have 🙌 The economy is booming, and by all metrics the country is doing better than under Trump - or any other president in recent years. Meanwhile trans people make up around 0.1% of society. So sure, let’s get the incoherent dictator back into power who sold our national secrets to foreign entities, mounted a coup, was A-Ok with hanging Mike Pence, threatened Mark Milley with execution and has been found liable for sexual assault. Bravo 👌 Bottom line: it’s either we have all been created equal - and that includes minorities, women and the LGBTQ community - or as you suggest some people, like Trump and his MAGAs are just better than others.
President Biden and Vice-president Harris both speak very clearly and sensibly. They have good hearts and clear minds and a practical and helpful vision for America.
Mr. Biden has certainly evolved over the course of his political career. To me, that is admirable. He doesn't blame, scapegoat, or vilify others. We're all in this together.
Doesn’t blame scapegoat etc Lol Biden said to be increasingly frustrated by dismal poll numbers In one recent meeting he said poll numbers were unacceptably low blaming the press and his aids and he wanted to know what his team and his campaign were doing about it
I remember when I began listening to NPR news programs and was amazed by the interviews that were more like eavesdropping in on a conversation between two highly intelligent people who were interested in the subject matter. It was often exciting even when I wasn't so interested in the topic. Prior to that, the interviews I heard on mainstream news of the time was like someone reciting questions someone had written for them and then waiting for the interviewee to finish so they could read the next question and get it over with. So often, it was obvious the the interviewer had no knowledge of or interest in the topic or the person. More often than not, those interviews were boring because the interviewer and interviewee were bored. What a waste. Here, we have two intelligent people who are enjoying the exchange. Very enjoyable.
I love that Biden opened up his campaign in Valley Forge Park. I was born just a few miles away and have been there many times. Explored the grounds around George Washington’s cabin and I think we even were able to go inside. I have ancestors who fought and died in the Revolutionary War. Thank you for sharing this interview. I so appreciate your work and your nightly read-outs, Heather. ❤
Thank you! There isn’t a day that goes by where I would love to sit down with you to express why you are so important to us. We each have our own story but knowing that as individual as we all are we collectively benefit from and with each other. You bring me confidence that WE shall succeed in continuing this wonderful 200+ year experiment called democracy. ❤
Thank you for saying this to Heather & Co. this morning. What welcomed sentiments to read/feel after being forced to follow all the trump trashing of our legal system and civil servants. It surprised me when I suddenly choked up with the resonance of balancing the scales with what we just witnessed in this interview. Like being dipped in a balm of sanity after seven years of our collective abuse.
Great conversation? lmfao!! You think struggling Americans relate at all to the simple, braindead questions she asked that traitor. Wonder how much crooked Joe paid her to keep it simple...
@@RlsIII-uz1kl Let's recapture your objective statements today. Quote:. He's literally the worst president in modern history, if not of all time. So what are you again capable of?
Thank you HCR. If only we as Americans thought our fellow Americans actually were entitled to clean air/ water, education, health care, bodily autonomy, love...
He's the WORST President in American history that has allowed millions of illegal migrants into the US through wide open borders. Record inflation/debt, crime and gun violence. Let's go Brandon!!!
Have to say Heather. I really enjoy your "letters from an American" on substack. As an Australian interested in foreign politics and policies. It's a great read.
Thank you for the conversation, with movement and sound. Even better than the great newsletter you do daily. Thank you for sharing it in a space where everyone can have a voice, without the paywall, and share their comments with you, the President, and all who can connect with RU-vid. Thank you for the experience of listening and acting like neighbors.
HCR does such an amazing job of bringing historical perspective to the present day. I always feel just a little smarter with each Letters from an American I read. This interview with President Biden highlights that.
😂 they're both transnationalist socialists/globalist socio fascists (third Worldism) neoheglian cultists/woke cultists what would you expect. They couldn't answer one question anyone could ask them and that's what is a woman.
I'm so glad that you got this opportunity. Those of us who have been following you were right there with you. You really showed the human side of Biden.
The two takeaways are that Americans are not limited in what they think they can do and that once the job is done, and it is a job not an entitlement; walk away. That says it all, thank you Joe Biden and Heather Cox Richardson.
Heather Cox Richardson has her thumb on the pulse of our great country and a clear vision of the present and the past. I start my day reading her column and thank G-d for her insights! Let us all hope that this upcoming election keeps this country with Biden. Anyone who thinks this amazing man is too old for the presidency is not paying attention to his accomplishments!
Dr. Richardson, We are not accustomed to hearing non-news, non-journalists interviews. Going to take a bit of time and a considered shift of mind for this new product. Thank you
What a lovely human exchange. So genuine, understated in tone, but with such powerful ideas forging into ideals. Thank you, President Biden and HCR, for your subtle and powerful exchange!
@@heathermatthews1323 She's an activist intellectual devoid of objectivism and represent the rot within our institutions and Ol'slow Joe is a puppet of his permanent political class and represent the rot within gov. They're a perfect match!
I bet ur family is not dying under rubbles or not economic sanctions were u live or ur gas and electricity bills are cheap and no recession in horizon we do not want this genocide president in the office just for humanity sake
He speaks that great missing idea which really defines the potential for our great adventure: obligation. Rather it is felt, or not. Still it is good to hear it come from a president again.
Future? He'll be gone soon and she'll try to remain relevant on some level but will fail. He's a puppet of his permanent political class and unelected globalist oligarchies (not all) who finances her career an activist intellectual devoid of objectivism..
He understands that ideas are powerful. And that ideas are, and need to be, more powerful than any individual. Because ideas serve people better and longer than any individual ever can. And the powerful ideas are the ones that inspire people to come together and value each other.
In almost any other political environment than what we have today, he'd have the potential of being one of the greatest presidents in the history of our country. Sad that this potential is getting lost in the divisiveness that is consuming our country.
We can mend and overcome enough of the "divides" and change the "environment" by actively, vocally and unabashedly supporting President Biden and his efforts to achieve the dream of a truly *United* States of America. President Biden has the potential to achieve greatness alongside/along with "we, the people...". 💙
Hopefully history will treat him well. Remember that Lincoln, Roosevelt, & Carter all faced massive opposition & even ridicule when they were in office. But they're great people & Presidents.
Unless the cuts in this were to hide something (which I DO NOT believe) I am reassured beyond words to hear President Biden sounding so clear, so smart in this discussion, and so compassionate and hopeful. He is a wise man.
@@mikeglazer6676 That’s true, but in 1987, the same year he made the claim, he admitted his lie and corrected the record publicly. There’s an article online from 9/22/1987. So, he allowed the untruth to persist for a matter of months. He didn’t double down. He didn’t call other people liars or claim that it was fake news.
I really love that man. Republican pundit (?) Tim Miller said Biden was the best president of his lifetime. That went back to Bill Clinton. I was so pleased to hear that because he is one of the conservatives I really respect. I don't think he's a republican anymore and his politics are becoming more liberal. Anyway, I think Biden is the best president since Kennedy or maybe even Eisenhower because JFK's presidency was cut so short. I also really liked Carter. With more cooperation from the Senate and Congress, he would have gotten some very important things done. He was way ahead of the curve in regard to curbing the fossil fuel industries to avoid the global climate change that just might destroy us. But greed won out again. It has been such a long time since we even had a decent man in the White House. Let's give him 4 more years. Then a few more to Democrats till the GOP straightens it's sh*t out.
This is the side of President Biden I wish the world could see more of. He is such a warm, loving person when allowed to speak without the teleprompter. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. ;)
I was going through my ancestry and it was clear that each person was required to serve their society for a time in the 1600s, and then they could go on with their personal lives. I think people should be re introduced to that idea.
Thank you Heather for your insightful daily observations & the truth about the past & the present! Also for the President speaking clearly, thoughtfully & succinctly! May God Bless him in good health giving him strength & courage as he moves forward! Heather, thank you so very much for being here for each of us daily! God Bless you & your family & keep you safe! Amen!
Thank you, Professor, for orchestrating this short interview. President Biden is the one I will be voting for later this year. I get and read your daily letters on FB. Seeing you like this is a rare treat as I do not get to watch the other things you post.
Good thing there wasn't a Republican Party of "patriots" at Valley Forge way back then. The Valley Forge Flag staff tip would have been in General Washington's back.
She's actually a historian. (Do you read her "Letters from an American"? She emphasized that fact when she introduced this video.) I wish that she WAS a journalist!
Thank you, as often! I accept this as a significant conversation and deeply appreciate the mutually respectful tone, which is so, so often these days not noticeable in public discourse. As a US-Canadian dual citizen, "born in the USA," though, I reserve some right to take some issue with the clear acceptance of American Exceptionalism as a guiding force in political leaders' comments. Perhaps that is de rigeur, esp in the climate of accusations from the right that Democrats are not patriots. Yet my family and I have lived in three Latin American nations when I was a missionary/teacher; my wife and I have lived and worked in and Germany while I was in the US Army. In those and in the many nations I (now Canada since 1986) I have visited and worked as a pastor to missionaries, the one single issue that rankles (mild word) non-US citizens is the perceived arrogance of expressions of American Exceptionalism. I love the US and weep at the current polarization and the wicked white supremacy that seems to be flourishing and exerting tragic effect on extreme rightist movements in many parts of the world, Yet at the same time that I recognize and applaud the outspoken desire of President Biden to keep American as his vocational priority, I would love to see the day when leaders can honestly, humbly, compassionately admit US agressions and tragic foreign policy failures. Yes, that won't get them elected and, yes, there must be places for not voicing apologies, but somewhere, sometime political leaders in the US (and all over) must be able to admit failures, while also pledging future efforts toward policies for inclusive justice that the US does not need to pose as the flawless model. Thank you, HCR, again and again, for your work and columns. Blessings, jcd
This Biden at his best, Thank you for publish9ng this video. I think Biden should publish a weekly chat like this one. Would go a long way to demonstrate his humanity, intelligence, and backbone.
I am from Australia and have been following Heather almost since she started her blog. What struck me is how absurd the narrative of senility is that is being relentlessly pushed by the Murdoch press is. I found Biden’s answers well beyond the superficial and hopeful. America today has huge issues to face would a younger set of candidates be better, definitely but no one should be challenging Bingen on comptence
Y'all are so very confused wholeheartedly replying on the activist intellectuals devoid of objectivism and the permanent political classes tools known as fake news/legacy media/MSM which exists within yesteryears now irrelevant modern "mass majority". We're in the new postmodern "network society*. They've lost the ability to manipulate and lie to the masses and in turn lost the ability to manipulate and lie to the masses.
His age is a blessing. Over fifty years of civil service experience has no rivals. The job experience counts toward efficiency on the job. Knowing what button to press in crisis situations helps in governance. Lack of experience in any situation means learning on the job day in and day out, which can lead to a crisis on the job. We experienced that with the former president who threw the whole country into several crises: first with covid 19, then January 6, and all the consequences of lack of experience in running a democratic country like America. President Biden is the best for the job. He's not the cause of the wars in Gasa and Isreal. Put the blame squarely where the blames belong. He doesn't live in Isreal or Gasa. How do you expect him to run this great country (America) and, at the same time, carry the burdens of other countries on his shoulders? It's not possible😮
