I really dislike what they did with McNamara. No, not the “demonizing minorities” tumblr argument from people who didn’t watch the show. And no, not because of the graphic scenes she’s involved in. The writers seemed to have less interest in her than the other two Heathers, seemingly because she doesn’t fit the sassy “yass queen” archetype that they morphed Chandler and Duke into, and as a result, she’s largely pushed to the sidelines in favor of the two over-the-top catchphrase machines.

Let your mother finish" I hate this so much because sometimes people think they're alone and they cant talk about it and when she actually gets the chance to talk she gets interrupted. I'm very disappointed of the way they "comforted" Heather McNamara. I thought of reboot of the side of Heather McNamara is that her parents is a workaholic people who can't open up to due they busy of growing their business or being loaded, especially her Dad is selling engagement rings. In that way, we can see Heather M handle her pain alone (since others bullied her) and thought of suicide.

Fingers crossed for season 2 to happen! I binge watched this (I'm not from the US) yesterday and I devoured this series!

Why is this shot like a fucking Tim Burton film, everyone talks so stiltedly, everything is fucking yellow, the parents know way too much, it’s like the dream sequence from the movie except it’s fucking EVERYTHING, and with a gross, somehow over commercialized version of teen society today. Not to mention none of it was funny until the very end despite this being a crucial scene and apparently having a lot more ammo behind it than either movie or musical. It’s clear why it failed; it’s holds being creepy and knowing tumblr lingo over any semblance of tone, context, and character, which were the strongest parts of the originals

So basically all of the adults think they have the right answers when in fact none of them do, not in this tv show, not in the musical, not in the original movie that inspired both.

Filmmakers think they are doing something so "inclusive" and "progressive" by showing this married couple together, but considering the subject and the mentality of the daughter, it just makes the family dynamic look like it isn't exactly ideal and helpful.

So most of you are so nit picky, yes the show could have been better but why not see it for what it was? It didn’t need to be a carbon copy of the original, it tells it’s own story of somewhat ‘modern era’. Everything is on the nose, for example Heather’s parents talking to her. If the story was changed everyone would hop to their desktops in the much free time they have for whatever reason and mansplain about how this isn’t heathers (nobody is happy either way) I loved it and it made me excited for the show, I loved the show for what it was and not would it could have been, then you’re missing out on what the current ‘thing’ is happening. WHICH is a point of the show too (everyone worried about the wrong things when literal life around them is decaying) no one liked J.D not even his own dad it was said multiple times throughout the show. Don’t hate watch the show and actually take the time to watch and enjoy it, because let’s not pretend at moments the show didn’t speak facts about modern teenage era
