With apologies to Sam Elliot, and maybe the Southern US for my Canadian attempt at a southern accent. Lore content coming up about HG...eventually. #heavygear #battletech #dreampod9
You'd beat Tex in presentation. He'd kill you with his voice. Both your sound editors/editing skills are going to be cheering together with one banner saying "win" without saying who's supposed to win. That's an image I see as you sit in a Gear staring up Texs (whatever mech he recently talked about). As of the time of this comment it Tex would have an Urbie so... Chances are quite nice for both of you. Good luck!
I love heavy gear mechs, they're as close as you get to being semi-credible mechs in a sci-fi setting. And they're cheap, so all your badlands friends can get their hands on a Anoleis and have fun throwing rockets at city folks.
If you're interested in more Heavy Gear stuff in the meantime, drivethrurpg has some kind of deal with Dream Pod 9 that allows them to give away the Heavy Gear Blitz 3.1 Corebook free as a PDF. So if you want an introduction to the game, the lore, or both, I *highly* recommend you check it out. www.drivethrurpg.com/product_info.php?products_id=395804 (3.1 Corebook, includes other stuff with it)
I figure any nation that can afford to give out Warhammers & Nukes to it's servicemen can afford an OmniPod or two I tell you what. I saw that ad for 1 800 Van Zandt
@@MacsLore first off, them their nucleear munitions we took on payday loan through Discount Dan. Ask for warhammers, I wish. All I got is this used urbanmech I won on scratchers at Uncle Buckies. Damn thing still had bees in the cockpit.
@@milsurp.mephostophiles4485 the last time a friend of mine bought an urbanmech it had a jet pack add-on from discount Dan it crashed after a few minutes of flight. Well, that was a success.
I love how they feel a need to compare themselves to other mechs. Guees being based on VOTOMS (which are VERY squishy by mech standards) does that to ya
LOL well, they are squishy by mech standars because mech standards are ridiculous. VOTOMS and Gears are both more realistic in their damage capacity. The idea that a battlemech can stand there and need more than one heavy Gauss round to make go boom boom is kind of silly. Either the armor has a buff or the weapons are nerfed. Take your pick. And as I recall Hercs weren't that much better than Gears. Which is not to say I have a problem with any of these universes. Its just big mechs would get zapped from orbit. Feel the same about the Gundam universes. They're all too damned big. Hercs/VOTOMS are about as big as you could get away with.
I remeber playin the first game, had a pretty cool intro. Tried to play the second game but it never ran on my system because the version I got was made to be sold with a specific computer or something and wouldn't start without it. Anyway if you want to make a lore video about this series, please do. Would be fun to remember.
Hell, lets throw the armored units from Deserts of Kharak for good measure! If you're gonna have a brawl have a brawl LOL And to be honest their wheeled and tracked vehicles are bigger than gears. Hell a Base Runner could crush the average gear. Watch the opening sequence where Rachel S'Jet's Base runner rolls past the "light" attack vehicle. Which seems to have a 120mm machine gun LOL
Oh come on, Heavy Gear is the shit, there is like 6 to 8 main factions, and countless other factions in the lore in the badlands. Not to mention the Earth forces that invade. That is a funny plug for that religious northern faction lmao. Oh man, back in the day it took forever to download those patches using dial up just so the game was playable on the computer, and still crashed randomly, but that game was the shit next to Wing Commander 3 and 4, and Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries, Heavy Gear II and the recent attempted reboots not so much though.
It's so strange, apparently there's a TON of Heavy Gear lore hiding... somewhere. I only learned about it because I was very interested in the failed attempt at a new video game years ago. Blitz is neat but it doesn't come across as something with as much history as the franchise apparently has.
I recently got into the Tabletop wargame and that was my thought as well. But they just did a huge update on the lore books. On RPG drive thru, of you want some lore books. Plus they just announced a Kickstarter for the 4th Ed RPG game.
@@gavinbeaton4112 Yeah, I did see the RPG announcement, apparently some people liked it quite a bit as an RPG which is more than we can say of most of BattleTech's attempts
Drivethrurpg has some kind of agreement with Dream Pod 9 to give away the PDF Version of the Heavy Gear Blitz 3.1 Corebook. It includes a bunch of the lore for each faction, including the other colony worlds outside of Terra Nova. And it's the current version until 4 comes out. www.drivethrurpg.com/product_info.php?products_id=395804
DP9 released Heavy Gear Revitalized, which is a rerelease in original quality of the old RPG books. Would recommend the Life on Terra Nova books, they give a great overview of the setting, down the individual cities in all of the leagues.
You think Tex pilots anything with OMNI tech on it? First, uncalled for. Second, we both know he'd pilot an Awesome. No OMNI-tech there, What you think he's part of the clans?
Hey, kriff you, energy shields are still king even if they're magic made by witches! Anyhow, awesome work here, even if I'm not that well versed on Heavy Gear. That never got into me compared to other mecha storylines then and now.
