AWD on the twinsteer was the biggest update for that truck. Only way they could make that truck better is adding wider tire options so it’s not so tippy. Or adjust the center of gravity on it to be lower or something because having just concrete slabs and nearly tipping when turning off-road and going slow is insanely annoying.
Agreed. The Twinsteer is one of my favorite trucks, and with the all wheel drive update, it's a beast. Also, the other trucks have been updated as well.
The P12 and twinsteer are my go-to haulers in the game. One of the big advantages with the P12 is the ability to carry medium logs while pulling a medium log trailer. The Twinsteer with AWD and diff lock becomes an absolute beast and I feel like this video didn't do it justice
What are you talking about?? I used Twinsteer quite regurarly and I don't know any other vehicle that is more unstable than Twinsteer. A slight wind and I'm over.
@@nepisneps I know right, some of the other trucks are really lackluster in terms of horn sound. The Azovs and Kolobs sound more like car or pickup horns.
The P12 is my go to when i need a crane or a service body. The Caterpillar is when i cant rescue a vehicle with any other in my fleet. I use the Western Star when i dont want to find, buy, or pull a trailer. I just started using the more modern looking Derry Longhorn (forget the model number), but it leaves some to be desired. The P16 i used once and i feel like its more limited in the spaces it seems to be able to fit. The other Derry Longhorn (the one recovered from the river over the hill) i sold right after i tried it. It didnt seem to do very well and it is ugly lookin to me.
wonder how this would look like now with all the new engines and active suspension (specifically for the derry, it improves the dead axle problem by a whole lot by keeping it lifted by default and giving you the option to lower it) ) and also the new trucks. That said, I really like the Derry 3I94. Again, the axle isn't as much of an issue anymore (though i still have to be very mindful of my lines) and it's nice and consistent through mud and water, even if it's not the quickest.
The 4520 is also a lot better with its new engine now. Actually has enough power to haul itself and large loads up some decent slopes, paired with probably the best turning circle of the heavy class I think it's probably one of the best heavies for those massive hauls, though it still does lack utility.
I feel like the most useful one is the mud race as some roads have very annoying mud area (like white valley or even north port). Even scout vehicles struggle desperately in these areas (except tatarin which is crazily good in mud). BTW, 4520 also has very good turning radius. However US trucks cannot carry cargos directly (My twinsteer has no AWD upgrade so it is almost useless in mud). Look at azov 73210, you can even throw a loading crane to it. Thanks to powerful engine and big tyres, they perform very well in deep mud when hauling Ramped flatbed trailer, really love them.
It’s deceiving because the p16 has the power and grip you want to tow things. If you base it solely on getting where you need to go quickly with a ton of weight behind you the p16 is what you want
Exactly. That's why for all the mega trailer contracts and ultra large loads I always use the p16 or the p12. The speed is arbitrary when the goal is just getting there. And usually even though slower thanks to that monsterous low end gearing they wind up getting there faster then the others for that exact reason. I'm glad that this game introduced me to pacific trucks. They are awesome! Plus I'm really excited to try out the new p512, especially once they unlock the awd to it as it is in the code. Probably in phase 4 they will add it's awd. But from what I've seen the 512 is pretty good with just the diff, it is pacific after all. Not to mention the p16 is getting it's very own custom log trailer when phase 3 drops. I've been wanting to use it for it's intended purpose for a very long time coming!
I love the derry 4520 it's so easy to drive and has an awesome horn but its power is just awful it struggles to pull itself up inclines sometimes and for a vehicle that's only addons are the saddles a B+ at best is terrible
I agree, I think that both derrys are lacking. Taking the 4520 to a v12 and the other one to a v16 could make them amazing. They are after all supposed to haul tanks.
@@redhunter68 Not true specs but overpowered specs. Game has torque too low but modder made it way too high now it's 385000 torque when most powerful in game truck in game had 265000 I think. Its still needs some tweaking. For example make from 190000 torque value to 225000 so it still somewhat realistic for dd12 engine. I would agree to keep same torque values for cat c 18 800hp engine but not detroit diesel engine that makes nearly half torque that c18 can make IRL.
With heavier penalties on the dnf (recovering should have a heavy penalty) and restructuring the fuel usage to go off of litres per minute rather than minutes per tank (hard mode you use as little fuel as you can). Here are the standings. P-12 68 DH4 48 CAT 38 DH3 30 P16 20 WS 2
Wonder if they changed it later in the development in the game, same as the ank mk38 it is seen hauling a heavy fuel semi trailer even though it can’t due to it having only a sideboard bed.
Mud tyres are what you need for snow, chains are for ice. The reason the p12 and the Derrys performed poorly is because you can't fit chains to the others.
i use the 4520 for all my heavy haulage i was shocked at how piss poor it was in this video i know its underpowered for the size of its engine it really dose need more power but it was outclassed by its 6x8 (3194) other half i used that once and it sucked what happened did they update it i thought that would DNF all tests
Pacific trucks are based out of Vancouver BC, Canada. Later partnered with International Harvester trucks, and were bought put from there. They still make parts for these old beasts
@@a-a-rondavis9438 But if it was the other way around, the Americans would be pounding their chests "those are American, not Canadian!" I can hear it already.
The Derry 4520 has the turning circle and narrow profile of like a scout vehicle. This allows it access to several road that no other heavy duty truck can reliably use.
yeah, whenever I finish a delivery with it that opens a new map, I usually keep the Derry around to scout it for a bit unti it wither runs out of fuel or it get it stuck (which isn't all that easy, even with the chained tires it powers through a lot of stufff). The biggest drawback I think is that it's pretty underwpowered which, ironically, makes it not very good for hauling. The other derry feels a bit more consistent in that regard and the dead axle is kind of a bummer but it's easy to compensate by being more mindful of your routes. (and avoiding large rocks). It's actually kind of been fixed by the active suspension that lets you lift a bit more than before the updates.
Only one test with actual hauling, the ice test where the Cat and the P16 are stuck with their excellent mud tyres. Overall completely useless video. We should see heavy hauling, on dirt, on mud, on road, in deep mud, on snow, on ice, on high slope, on rocky terrain/stability/sturdiness
after all this and you put real gameplay in it. Like taking a trailer from the garage. go get that and back to garage. i P16 will get the job done. who needs speed anyways with the glitchy things in snowrunner. :) Good video man
It’s a fair comparison. The chain-less trucks can’t deal with ice, and that’s a good way to show it- and this is coming from someone that loves using the P-16.
Yup, because the Twinsteer has chain tires and snow is treated as mud. Since this was before the Twinsteer AWD Addon, it performs poorly in mud. A rematch now would make things a very different story.
So I obviously did something wrong with the p12. I used it to haul long logs and medium logs in Island Lake and Drummond island. It was an absolute joke to say the least. The biggest POS I've ever driven in this game. Kept getting stuck everywhere, had to detach trailer multiple times. Even had to bring another truck to help pull it out, multiple times. But it dominated most of these tests? Something's not right ..
not very fair to the twinsteer most are way shorter than it so it's only able to do most with awd with the length I've never had a problem with mine besides tipping when I'm not focused and running out of fuel on long drive
The Derry Longhorn was not shown correctly. There were multiple circumstances were you should have had the middle wheel suspension lowered so it didn’t high center. One of the biggest things with the longhorn is knowing when to adjust suspension so you don’t get stuck.
The Longhorn didn’t always have the ability to raise the drop axle. I don’t remember offhand when that ability was added, but this video more than likely was made before it was possible.
P16 all the way, I do every heavy haul contract with it and now with the new trailer from imandra I use it for everything, best truck in game in my opinion, AND that horn tho ;D
What is the old CAT? I got it soon and I don't know the difference. If it had a diff lock back then, this test automatically becomes invalid to me. I almost found myself shouting "Turn the damn diff lock on!!!" more than once
I beleive they should have implemented the lifting poles on the 6900 twin steer. Being an bed truck it should be able too load things larger and longer then its bed as well, it really should have 6 or 8 slots of cargo space in my opinion.
