I know I am commenting on an older video, but I just found your channel. I have to tell you we have two protection trained giant schnauzers and they are just incredible. Truly go anywhere dogs. I have all manner of people coming up to them and zero reaction. However, on just a few occasions, where necessary, their protective capabilities come out and no one with ill intentions wants to hang around for long. They just adore their families, again personal opinion, more than any other breed I have seen. I love the protection breeds in general, but my personal opinion, and I am no professional, is that the giant schnauzers are so underrated and undervalued as family protection breed.
They are considered "cousins" to the Doberman Pinscher (and have some Dobie blood in them). Schnauzers date back to the Middle Ages, they're farm dogs for herding, keeping vermin in check and protecting the homestead. The Giant version of the Schnauzer family was developed to protect the farmers when they traveled to the market so personal protection is in their blood.

Respect very good trained Riesenschnauzer! I like the Riesenschnauzer from working Line very much! Good to train in every Sport and when he is good socialized it's also a fine family Companion 😎🐶
Better with other Giants based on their size and desire to play, they are athletic at work and clumsy at play so their size can be an issue with smaller dogs at times, in my opinion and what I've seen from my Giant
Maybe the announcer's accent is difficult to pick up on. But, he said a couple of times that Hector was "mutual with other dogs." Meaning, he gets along with other dogs just fine.
We don’t have working lines in Australia. I’m getting a GS from a showline breeder next year. I don’t so much care about training for personal protection but would like to do a bite sport with it. Do you think this is possible from show line giant schnauzers? To be clear and honest the breeder has selected for aesthetics only.
