Hi Chris, Chris here 😉 great Review overall but I doubt you made a little mistake regarding the small vertical stripes you called 'permanent open' vents. These vertical stripes are to take Helds own lightning system called "H.L.S Set LED Panel" one can purchase them on the held page. Greetings from Germany. Keep up those awesome reviews! Cheerz!

Thank you Chris, consider me sold. One thing that seems to be not ever mentioned in pants reviews is the ability for the lower pant leg to fit over proper Offroad boots.

Great review, I purchased this jacket as it fits like a tailored jacket. It is one one of the best fitting and comfortable jackets I own. In winter I wear a polar fleece jacket and heated vest underneath with no issue at 5 to 10 deg c days all day and still stay comfortable and warm. In summer over 35 deg c days with no issue whatsoever, the rain is also no issue with the Gortex overcoat I keep this in my tail bag until needed. This jacket is one of the best safety purchases I have made in the last 29 years of riding on the road and adventure touring before it was cool.

Chris, great review. My $ 0,02 as I ve been using Held Torno 1 pants for around 6 years know. Top notch! I would recommend them to anybody as far as a quality is concerned. However beware of the light colours! How can you design an adventure suit and use light grey / off white colour?! For Torno second generation they produced 5 colour versions. Two blacks and 3 off whites. Nothing in the middle! I ve bought light coloured pants which was a mistake. From the knees down they are getting dirty in a matter of hours. One more thing regarding jackets. In 1 & 2 versions the fabric in light colour jacket gets dirty / changes colour near the magnets. Washing doesn't help. It looks like the bullet holes 🙃 You can find pictures of used Carese jackets in the web.

Great review, really like the jacket and pants. Do you stock or are you going to start stocking the different colour schemes. I would be interested in the light jacket as in the video with the black pants they do or the Atacama suit if that is something on the horizon for you getting in.

Great review! I don't like these hard plastic velcro tabs at the cuff that Held are using. I literally cut my hand on one of those before. Also getting your zippers bunched up under them creates unnecessary pressure points. Using locking zippers and moving the tabs one centimeter to the side would have taken care ot that problem.

Fantastic review and amazing educational work in Motorcycle Adventure Gear department . Thanks for that Motolegends ! One else . Did you come across Held Hakuna 2 Jacket ? Hakuna 2 doesn't have goretex liner what make it much cheaper alternative to the Held Carese Evo jacket. I am really interested in your opinion about Hakuna 2 Jacket especially as it looks it has even better vetilation. Is it any chance you could get Hakuna 2 Jacket to your hand to make a review / comparison, please ?

You’d think Held would’ve switched the Superfabric on the shoulders to actually go over the impact zone instead of the top by your neck.
@Motolegends
@Motolegends 3 года назад
Christopher, I agree. Personally, I think the SuperFabric on the Carese is tokenistic. It’s there to tell everybody that only the best components have been used. I am also of the view that SuperFabric is a bit of an affectation on an off-road suit. When you come off, off road, you don’t tend to slide; and sliding and abrasion resistance are what SuperFabric is about. CP

Tried this for first time vents work , goretex goes over even with airbag vest on. Having crashed and the superfabric held up on my Belstaff I m convinced . But the superfabric on shoulder is not in the right place as a trauma medic u do not slide on top of your shoulders the superfabric needs to be on the upper part and front of the humerus . The superfabric is too small on the knee and elbow. BUT yes lots of vents , yes I bought white bcos u don’t sell the black . Pls ask held to make dark with some life but not the dull black . At least when this is dirty I might wash my jackets more often so question Chris do I use Storm wash products ?

Looks well designed but the low collar and lack of vents on the membrane layer could be improved.
@Motolegends
@Motolegends 3 года назад
Not sure that I have come across many waterproofs with vents built in. Would somewhat defeat the object. Don’t forget that the Gore-Tex membrane is pretty breathable, so I really wouldn’t expect an outer jacket and pant like these to come with vents. Also bear in mind that this an off-road suit. A high collar would be inappropriate. CP.
@domster200
@domster200 3 года назад
@@Motolegends Surely the laminated suits have vents and many walking jackets, would make this more versatile. The low collar is what gets criticism on Klim's 'off road' suits and totally illogical for waterproofing.Just suggestions for improvements for all brands.
@Motolegends
@Motolegends 3 года назад
We are not talking about a laminated suit here. We are talking about a straightforward ‘waterproof’; nobody puts a vent in a ‘waterproof’; and for good reason. Klim’s laminated suits are not strictly off-road suits. They are road suits masquerading as off-road suits. Fantastic for GS riders who ride on road, who want full weather protection, but who want the adventure aesthetic. As we state in this review, you would not undertake a serious off-road ride in a laminated suit; and the Klims that I assume you are talking about are laminated suit. So yes, I can perhaps see that a higher collar would make sense on a Klim laminated jacket. But on a genuine off-road suit like the Carese a higher collar would contradict everything the suit stands for; namely air flow.
@domster200
@domster200 3 года назад
@@Motolegends So the vented 'laminate' suits aren't waterproof then? A higher collar would make it properly waterproof and vents would provide airflow and versatility without the need for a Scott waterproof.

How wide of a boot will the pants fit over by the way? Think they'd get over top of a full MX one?

sh*t, just ordered KLIM Latitude as I didn't want to wait until may for this to launch :( :D Might have to send back the KLIM and wait for the HELD to perfectly bridge the ambitioned off-road tourer gap. Why couldn't you publish the clip yesterday ;)

The venting looks great. However, they’ve really skimped on the superfabric, as far as I can see. Superfabric should cover all of zone 1 and zone 2 NOT just a small part of zone 1. Disappointing for safety. Also, I wouldn’t buy a AA garment. It’s not particularly protective. AAA at a minimum should be considered protective: adventure riders can go really fast between Starbucks locations.

How many of your customers are doing Paris-Dakar? Your interpretation of an adventure jacket is irrelevant. People can make up their own minds about what they want. Why you feel the need to explain it on as good as every video about adventure gear baffles me.
