I would recommend that you guys take a training session for yourselves how to talk to these elderly. how to communicate in the slow and steady way. they will give you tools to NOT confuse them, like don't both talk at once, no boomaranging , they get easily confused. Just a thought.

I wish you guys had a pamphlet to give each victim explaining what they need to do to fix their situation and how to prevent it from occurring again.

I've been in that highly-charged-defensive headspace and its somewhat cathartic to feel in control while you loose your venom at the threat. ... But, I've learned that it's more of a yappy Chihuahua's attitude against an unknown threat that could be a hungry Grizzly bear. Better to remain as calm as possible. Please take some deescalation training. I do worry for your safety. There are lots of weirdos out there waiting for an excuse to pop off and hurt someone. ❤ I love what you do. Please stay safe.

As others have suggested, use one person to explain what you are doing and have some kind of credentials to prove you are not there to harm anyone. But, as an adult child of parents with dementia, it was great to see that man try to protect Ronna. It takes a village. Bless your hearts for going after the merciless real dirt bags.

Someone has scammed my nana who is 76 years old! She had no idea and was so upset when my aunt and I found out and told her it was a scam. I’m definitely going to have a talk with her tomorrow and make sure she understands to never answer the phone for any scammers!!! I’ll show her this video too. This is so so sad that these scammers take advantage of the elderly :(((

@trilogymedia: consider developing a script explaining to victims what you are doing, why you are there, proving credentials, etc that you memorize and quickly say to the victims upon contact (maybe even bring typed info explaining it that can be given to victims). This might help to reduce confusion (as she clearly was) and foster trust sooner. Otherwise, great job guys and thanks for what you are doing! amazing work.

I have been doing a bit of a marathon on your RU-vid content recently and while I encourage you in what you are trying to do, there are a number of times that you have come quite close to crossing the line from white knight to the one with criminal charges. The very threats of bodily harm that Ashton levied on that gentleman harm your credibility and professionalism, not to mention it could earn you a criminal record. You have to always be respectful and diligent about what you are saying and how you are saying it, irrespective of how the other person is behaving. You are a professional media group that is trying to help folks, that guy was likely also trying to help his neigbour also, only he is not dealing with confrontation and deception on the level that you guys are. You should have taken the high road and avoided the escalated response that you expressed. Sure, he was wrong to detain you, but you were wrong in how you responded to it! Take note of how your camera man remained calm and was even making headway explaining the purpose for being there, the gentleman was listening to him and then Art and Ashton stepped all over the camera man's efforts and hurled more insults and threatening behaviour. You really need to learn to let just one person talk at a time, and it may not be the lead of the show; the cameraman had it under control, and I strongly believe that is what led to the gentleman stepping aside, not the threats of bodily harm or criminal action. - Don't talk over one another, before now I would have said let Ashton do the talking but he handled this one about as bad as you possibly could. - Don't EVER threaten physical harm on anyone; in some states that is likely to get you shot as they claim the feared for their own wellbeing; your recordings would only count against you in such. Now get back out there, expose those vial scammers, and most of all stay safe and lawful.

I really don't think you handled this one well, sorry. That guy at the end especially, he had no way to know you weren't scamming Ronna, especially with the first few things said "we're her friends" and confirming you're there to stop the old people being scammed, and that you have to leave immediately - it might be worth having business cards and maybe even have practiced interacting with people who have no idea who you are as a team maybe? I don't know exactly, but I just think you didn't get this one right and honestly, I'm actually glad that the building people tried to get the police involved because what if next time it's not good guys trying to get a resident to do something involving their credit cards? Obviously he didn't handle it well either, but that's another matter. That said, it was still a good outcome overall by the end and I appreciate what you do, I'm so glad you were able to help Ronna and thanks for running the GoFundMe - I chipped in. This is only meant hopefully as a small constructive comment to try to help Trilogy do better in future.

I really enjoy trilogy media but the most effective way to get your point across in confrontation is to be cool and collected. Your words are better received by anyone when you make your point and move on. Cursing and arguing just gives these asses more fuel for their fire. Be assertive, remain calm and that's way scarier in confrontation then losing your cool . And older people are generally pretty chill and don't like chaos so communicating in a calm tone with clear thoughts is important.

Having watched the last few videos of you confronting mules and the people that were scammed I’ve noticed a few things. 1. Back and forth between Ashton and Art intimidates the people they speak to and causes them to not want to speak or lie their way out of everything. Especially when there’s a tall eastern european man towering over you. 2. Several videos have been made where you end up in dangerous situations such as someone having a gun, the fellow in this video, and other things. This is due to a severe lack of pre-planning. Using the example of the gun, had more planning gone into it, they would’ve known the guy’s background and realized there was a chance of an accessible firearm. Adding to the pre-planning, you should clear all this field work with the local police so they’re aware and possibly even help you defuse dangerous situations. 3. Wow, there is a serious lack of professionalism between these two. By rushing through explaining everything and dropping the company name in the middle of the explanation, really isn’t helpful to anyone. These people are processing they’ve been scammed, are money mules, or are processing they’ve been found out so they’re not focused on your company name or the explanation. Learn one on one interview and explanation skills and you may not be in as many dangerous situations 4. You go to these meet ups and never seem to show proof to anyone about what you know. Show the evidence to prove your thought 5. Ashton needs to really work on himself. Addressing a civillian like that, regardless, speak professionally and calmly explain whats going on.

Anyone who scams or tries to pull one over on the elderly or other vulnerable people is scum. What disgusting human beings.

I commend and support everything you guys do, but when talking to this elderly lady you should have kept your conversation much simpler. You could see how confused she was getting every time you gave another example or explanation. Also, take off the sunglasses. They can be intimidating. Keep up the good work!

People keep saying they were talking over each other and confusing her. In fact, they take turns talking at the door, and seem to talk very appropriately to her in helping her to understand. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain to this lady ways to avoid falling for the scams in the future, my mom is getting to her sort of age and although she's still fairly good at identifying fake calls and stuff now her brain is getting worse and it scares me to think that there are people like my mom out there but are alone with nobody to point out to them "hold up, this situation is really suspicious". Seeing her confusion and fear really hit home hard because it's really familiar. Just, thank you.

This video was great until that dude showed up. Your actions were unnecessarily aggressive and turning childish minute after minute. What was wrong with Ashton? He turned from professional to an insulting idiot. That dude did nothing wrong except maybe following you, until you screwed up the situation. And this video title is kind of clickbait.

How not to confront someone who's property you're on: 'back the f up or i will beat the s out of you'. Press charges all you want, but with all that threatening and abuse on camera good luck. You need to calm down, we all know you've never beaten the f outta someone in your life.

Even with dealing with someone like him, the police are more likely to be on YOUR side if you DO NOT swear or make threats. Remember that for future confrontations. I've dealt with police coming out to my street on a monthly basis and have been for the past decade, I know what I'm talking about. Even if *you are in the right* you absolutely *do not get angry* at your aggressor.

Ashton needs to stop acting like a Karen. I'm starting to believe he's on the 'right' side for the wrong reasons. Acting tough against an older guy is nothing to be proud of. The guy was not a 'dirt bag'. He was completely right about asking questions and he deserves an apology. "We're the good guys", "You could see she had a smile on her face" and "Gotta catch a flight" would not do it for me either. Just like in some other videos you come across as a bunch of amateurs who simply expect random citizens to fall for the same kind of confidence tricks most scammers use.

I just want to thank you. seeing your channel helped me to identify scams and saved my elderly father over $15000!!! he had actually shipped it, but thankfully we know someone with UPS and were able to stop delivery on the package. it was such a good feeling to have the opportunity to donate to Rona and help her get her money back! thank you all for everything you do.

Like the videos and the work you do but after the "president of the building" called the cops you started acting like douche bags by threatening to beat the shit out of him. You were on private property and in his eyes you could be taking advantage of an old person, he clearly doesn't know who you are and could be scammers to him. Remember scammers tell lies and con people and you are expecting a complete stranger to believe what you are telling him? He's just trying to keep you there till the police turn up so your story can be verified and you start going mental at him and being very aggressive towards him, which makes it look as though you are trying to get away before the police turn up. Really not a good look and very unprofessional.

This is a sad story with a happy ending. She is 84 years old. How can anybody take advantage of somebody like this?! It breaks my heart. Please get some de-escalation training, as many others have said. It will keep you safer. You cannot win an argument with a drunk person. You have to just let it go, don’t let them get what they want, which is conflict. Ignore them until they get tired of it.

I think you guys misunderstood that the building manager thought YOU guys were scamming her,He was just looking out for his friends....NOW he did go about it in the wrong way...BUT you have to soften your approach. If i walked up on you guys talking to one of my tenets with cameras in hand i would probably be suspicious...you guys are doing the right thing,however, you just have to think about what others might think from the outside looking in. Anyway just keep this in mind.

Wow, Ashton handled that confrontation REALLY Badly. There's nothing like being late for a flight, and escalating a confrontation with a stranger. ugh. You could have given him your number, a business card and welcomed him to follow you to the airport and show him the video of the "intervention" with Ronna. If I was him and confronted you rushing away from the building, I'd have called the police too. If would be great if you could get in touch with local media persons to follow up with the 'victims' like Ronna. That way you could have have someone help them through receiving additional packages, and save additional victims. I know that it's difficult and stressful to deal with these, but maybe ask the person who has been scammed out of a bunch of $ if they would like to help save someone else having the same thing done to them - and see if they are up for that?

I seen in the comments the suggestion for taking a class or getting some kind of education on how effectively speak to the elderly and I totally agree. I genuinely do appreciate you guys helping people out and stopping scams. Though this video was pure chaos as a lot of other people have said.. There definitely has to be a better way to tell these people about the situation they’re currently in instead of bouncing between each other saying small bits and pieces of information. I know it’s far more difficult if someone is convinced of their situation and older, but it just felt like pure insanity until you all sat down and talked to her one on one and even then it felt like the conversation bounced a lot between you guys reiterating information. There’s also the dude at the end that the lady even said was the apartment manager, and I know even if you had a flight to catch like ASAP but talking to him for 4-5 minutes in a calm manner just being like “oh hey, this is who we are, *pull out a phone and show them the channel* we go around the United States stopping scams, she was scammed out of a couple thousand dollars and the scammers were trying to scam someone else out of 30,000$ *which was us talking to the scammers* by sending the money to this lady and then having her call someone to pick it up so it couldn’t be traced back to the scammers.” Would’ve been way better than the almost 10 minutes you guys spent telling the dude you wanted to beat his ass and to suck your dick while looking like you guys were all running away after 3-4 dudes were surrounding an older lady and talking about money. Like I said I genuinely do appreciate what you guys do, but man just watching this video felt sucky.

Drunk or not, being a Kevin or not, the building President was trying to do exactly what you were trying to do for Rhonna, which is to protect her because he didn't know who you were or if you were trying to do her harm. He deserves respect for protecting his elderly tenants like that. I appreciate everything you do to help people, but I agree with others that this particular situation was not handled in the best way. I really wish you guys would have sat down with him, introduced yourselves, gave info about Trilogy Media, and explained the circumstances of what was happening to Rhonna. I think it would have been a completely different scenario had that happened. Looking at it from his view, the way you were acting could have seemed somewhat shady. I think the camera man was helping him understand at the end, but then the aggressiveness came back out towards him and just messed up any progress he was making. I recommend having a different approach in future scenarios like this. I still appreciate and love everything you do to help others, but just hope you work on improving this approach.

I watched to the end after reading the comments and came in with an open mind still and expecting to be able to give the crew some defence but I have to agree that was handled terribly. Admittedly it was quite hard to hear everything but I don't feel like the building manager did anything to warrant the reaction. It went from zero to one hundred very quickly. Not the best second introduction to the crew who seemed very chill and fun during first impressions in the other video. I'll definitely watch more and hope this was just an outlier.

For clarification. ABL stands for Abetalipoproteinemia. It's also known as Bassen-Kornzweig syndrome, microsomal triglyceride transfer protein deficiency disease, MTP deficiency, and betalipoprotein deficiency syndrome and is a disorder that interferes with the normal absorption of fat and fat-soluble vitamins from food. It is a rare autosomal recessive disorder. Among other symptoms which normally present en masse are intellectual disability/developmental delay, developmental coordination disorder (evident by age ten), ataxia, muscle weakness, and slurred speech (dysarthria), which is why the person who held you hostage might have sounded intoxicated/drunk.

I know this is an older video but I am a new subscriber and am enjoying binge watching these videos. I do want to say that the guy that called the cops on you seems like one of those guys who think that they are protecting the building and all of its residents. The other residents probably put up with him and think he is harmless, but make fun of him when he leaves. I am lad that you guys do what you do. I have severe nerve damage in both legs and feet and it is now moving into my groin area. I also have bone spurs and an enlarged disk in my neck (I am getting a nerve block in a few days for the bone spurs) and all of the pain sends me into a deep depression sometimes. When I start to feel down, and that nobody in this world cares about anyone anymore, I watch videos like the one where you got that older lady $32,000.00 of the money she had stolen from her by a scammer, and it literally brings me to tears.
