I sit and listen to this music most nights with a glass of red in my hand and wonder what the hell todays singers think they are doing! This is how it should be done-wonderful,thankyou for posting these wonderful songs
What a beautiful face, as well as her voice. One of the most beautiful faces I have ever seen, alongside with Ava Gardner, Lauren Bacall and Sara Montiel.
Helen O'Connell's 1941 recording of "You made Me Love You" with The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. With some great newly found photos. A cool, laid back, yet very emotional vocal. A little "green-eyed" soul :) One of her finest from the era.
Thanks enjoying this very much! Will Never forget seeing her at Sunny Brook Ballroom in Pottstown Pa.. Last time she ever was there and boy was it wonderful!
Nice song and the orchesta is fabulous also. Real Love is like the song says. Sometimes it makes us deliriously happy other times it makes us feel so bad but that is the way it is and I accept its ups and downs.
A marvellous rendition . Helen O'Connell , Helen Forest, Judy Garland : singers who looked like women, behaved like women and didn't need semi-nudity to deliver this song.
She had a troubled life, and was under-rated for both looks and talent. *And you can't tell me that Marilyn Monroe didn't model herself after Helen O'Connell!
Lee Larson not marilyn The ppl who styled marilyn were the ones who would have made tht decision Marilyn literally had no say over how she looked and lots of the time fought how they made her appear
First she recorded a bunch with Dorsey..and she had a great symmetry smooth transition from orchestra to vocal and back. Very good style and interpretation with the band it was seamless. And gorgeous. I DO NOT understand Helen Forrest..cannot understand her phrasing and the connection with band and musicians. Still have no clue where she goes with the Lyrics. And she replaced billie holiday and Peggy Lee and had in my opinion no soul for jazz music especially LIVE
