Always been fond of this one (She has done some cracking singles). Really wide soundstage on your remix, bringing out the lovely tinkling piano, female backing singers and of course the drum rolls. Super melody so had a listen to the original by Ginny Arnell (shrill voice compared with Helen) and finished by a listen to the Embassy label copy by Kay Barry (not too shabby at all). Brilliant sixties pop music!
WOW, I love it! It must not have gotten much radio airplay in the US (at least on my local radio station) since I had never before heard the song or Helen Shapiro. Helen Shapiro has an "Adele" vibe (or Adele has a "Helen Shapiro" vibe) in her voice.
What a great voice of the then 15-year-old Helen. And as always a great pleasure to listen to your remix, Pat! On 2 February 1963, Shapiro performed at the Gaumont in Bradford. The 16-year-old singer's opening act was the Beatles, who were just emerging at the time.
Hi Rich. Sorry for the delay in replying, I've only just spotted your message. I'm still "cheating" when I do my remixes, although I now use a free online AI service to seperate the vocals and the instruments. This remix actually has two different backing tracks mixed in with the original track. The secret is to get the synchronisation exactly right and then mix them in at a much lower level. I take it as a compliment that you thought I might be using purely spectral editing methods. I must be getting better at fooling people 🙂
[Intro]I've lost him, but I don't know how He's going with another now He'll be at the party on Friday night I'd go there myself but it wouldn't be right [Verse 1]But if you see him there Please tell him that I care And that I want him back again Tell him that and then Tell me what he said [Verse 2]Just take him to a side Tell him how much I cried And I'm begging on my knees Tell him that and please Tell me what he said [Bridge]If I hurt him I'm sorry Please tell him that I love him No matter what the trouble may be We can talk it over [Verse 3]I've never been so blue I'll wait right here for you And then I'll know if I should cry If I should live or die When you tell me what he said [Intro: Refrain]I've lost him but I don't know how He's going with another now [Verse 2]Just take him to a side Tell him how much I cried And I'm begging on my knees Tell him that and please Tell me what he said
