Thanks EZE, I still haven't spent too much time in game. Took awhile to figure out how to fly lol. If I developed the game I'd of added stock footage for the hell of it. It's free after all. Thanks for coming by, and for the feedback.
@@OttoMattak The footage definitely sets the tone and fits well. I can tell the game is definitely hard to get the hang of. I do miss playing good flight simulators as I found them very relaxing once I got the hang of it. Thanks again and my pleasure!
@@OttoMattak When I watched your vid, I thought it was something they had added for Xbox :) Nice touch for the vid and I agree it would be much better than the tired, written descriptions.
Watch as Private Otto takes his first flight but before he gets TOO high off the ground, Private Otto's chopper goes KABOOM and he has to jump out of it without a parachute! [Private Otto shouts "WHEEEEE!" jumping out of it with his pilot instructor watches in shock!] O_O
Can you cover how to use the observation and mortar/artillery attack? I'm just pressing buttons but I believe you have to spot them first with "Y" button, then press "RB" to actually get them to fire? I'm stuck on a campaign mission.
Please forgive me for my belated reply. For some reason I was never notified of your comment. You may have figured the mortar teams out by now, but I'll happily share what I've learned. Mortars refuse to fire on offline mode. Dunno why. They also won't fire on single player online mode. The only circumstance under which they operate is online multiplayer. That said, they may have addressed these issues in thier latest patch. I should also note that online co op has been a pleasant experience. I've played numerous sessions and have only encountered one problematic player. Thank you for watching and commenting. And again, apologies for the delay.
@@OttoMattak I thought something was buggy about them...I have only gotten them to work 1 time in a single mission...Most times I only get the spotting done
@@50StichesSteel Once I got them to work I realized that they have excellent range, but like I said that was online multiplayer only. I'm surprised you got them to fire in a single player setting so maybe I'll give that another try. I'm grateful for the updates they released but there's still some bugginess in Heliborne.
I've waited for a long time for this to come to console but I still haven't bought it as yet going to wait a while to see more reviews and to see if the devs are going to give the game updates or will it just be forgotten about like so many other games
Not a bad idea. The game has it's flaws but so far I'm enjoying it. Meanwhile I'm also anxious to see if the game gets an update soon. I hear that they're currently working on one but we'll see. Thank you for watching, by the way, and for taling time to comment.
@@OttoMattak as long as you enjoy it that’s the main thing, I had another look at it and I like the concept but the controls and not being able to change them and the last gen graphics fail it for me
Im on steam its unbelievable how hard it is to find games that use a GAMING controller im old school like n.e.s old school and also im 6'5'' and have hands like a Muppet so the KEYBOARD is a no go , i dont understand the stigmata with these kids nowadays .....now i sound like my father.
Wow those controls look awful. Why did they not just have a proper collective on left stick U/D, rudder on left stick L/R, cyclic on right stick? Just copy drone controls.
You're right, Sarah. They were awful. To their credit though, they released an update several days ago that addressed all of my concerns. Players can now invert the axis, swap the the triggers, and there's a controller layout screen when you pause the game. Personally I'm grateful that they did so. It does appear that they are listening to the console player base, which is deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking time to watch the video. I hope you have a great day.
How do you fire mortars? I deployed 4 with my Huey went back to base got my scout helo with mortar observer and get in sight and says they are ready I’ve hit every button to call in fire.
That's an excellent question and honestly I haven't figured it out yet. Kind of frustrating because I understand that they're pretty useful. If I do discover how to deploy a mortar team I'll pop back in and let you know. Thanks for coming by, I appreciate it. If anyone else knows, and reads this, would you mind sharing that information?
I play the PC version, but the principle should be the same. You select mortars in the same way as other weapons (machine guns, rockets etc) and fire them in the same way. Hover to allow the targetted area to stabilize and reduce for greater accuracy: the [ ] indicator will move closer together.
@@OttoMattak To deploy mortars (or RPG or MANPAD), move your view around until the outline of a soldier is filled-in. You have probably been looking too far away or at inaccessible areas.
@@HotTacticalBoyfriendOfficial Thanks Jim. For me, the difficulty is getting them to fire. I can now deploy them using the method you prescribe. Still haven't gotten them to fire at my selected target though. By the way, I sincerely appreciate you offering some advice. Very kind.
@@OttoMattak NP most welcome. It's a shame there's no cross-play. Perhaps the target is too far from the mortars: they don't have an unlimited range. On the PC version the status of the mortar squads is shown below the targetting cursor and it tells you if the target is out of range.
Hi everybody, here are my 2 cents on Heliborne for xbox x console. Since I am a big fan of helicopters I was quite excited, when I first heard that Heliborne would come to xbox. 50 plus helicopters and good reviews on PC. I preordered and was in good faith that this could be the one. Well the graphics...I don't even start. But what bothers me the most are the controls! There is no option to configurate the controls whatsoever. There is no real distiction between roll, pitch and yaw. The controls are kinda like the mouse control in war thunder...point and click. What a disapointment, since there are "simulation" controls on the PC version. I hope the developer updates them asap. Right now this game is one big letdown. If no skill arcade games are your cup of tea, go at it. Otherwise stay clear of Heliborne until there is a control update. Cheers
The graphics are last gen, and that's being kind lol. Moreover, you're spot on regarding the controls. GTA does a better job, honestly. The fact that you can't invert the Y axis or assign keys is also a disappointment. I'll still probably have fun with it but the cold war setting is part of the appeal for me. By the way, I'm grateful that you took a moment to watch and doubly grateful for your first impressions. I too hope an update comes soon. Be well, and thanks again!
@@OttoMattak Well, the controls setup is not really a problem, since you can configure your controller via xbox controller setup (at least on the xbox elite controller). I really wonder why they did not implement the advanced PC flight model?! Well it is what it is. Thanx you Otto for your answer. Subscribed!! : ) Cheers, mate!
@@OttoMattak Hiya Otto : ) Yesterday I talked to the developer about the physics/controls and this is what they had to say: "We are now working o a fix/patch to enable advanced settings for controlers in game. We plan to have it ready still this week, so please stay tunned for news on discord/facebook game channels. " Yay!! cheers ; )
I believe the development and release of the Enhanced Edition/Xbox versions, has been rushed due to financial pressures. Right now, the OG and neglected (by Klabater) PC version is superior in every aspect. The survival of OG HB depends on the success of the Xbox version and I am not optimistic about the future.
@@HotTacticalBoyfriendOfficial I've heard similar sentiments watching reviews of the enhanced version regarding the vanilla game's superiority. The title does have something going for it on console. My impressions have improved as I've moved on to the full library of maps as opposed to the somewhat misleading Gulf of Tonkin first gen map. My hopes align with yours. While I've obviously not played the vanilla version I'm sure you're right about it's fate. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. There is nothing like this on console. That's something I appreciate immensely and I wholly intend to make my thoughts known to my immediate, albeit modest community. I truly hope the devs update this soon. I have been told that they've committed to that but we'll see.
@@thml7 No worries! In all honesty it should be right trigger so I don't blame you for trying it first. Glad you got her in the air. Now controlling her... Lol happy flying
@@OttoMattak Yeah same I've almost unlocked all USA aircraft, I have around 5-6 left to unlock. Then I'll be working on my Russian. But yeah no worries man hope you have a good day and maybe we can play sometime. :)
