LA Coliseum Flyover, plus Exposition Park and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. My helicopter flyovers videos of California have inspired lots of flyover requests. In my ongoing quest to fulfill them all I flew my helicopter over the LA Memorial Coliseum plus Exposition Park, Banc of California Stadium, and the Natural History Museum, which are adjacent to it. Along the way I learned that LA spells the word colosseum strangely and that area of LA looks amazing from above…especially at sunset.

My wife and I were there in 1986 for a monster truck show. Evil Kneivel’s son Robby jumps over seventeen school buses on a motorcycle and made it look easy. Lived in Beverly Hills for two years after college and loved it. I love LA.

Went to the Coliseum several times in the '70s. My older brother went to USC and for Christmas he used to get me a ticket to the Rose Bowl. Would fly down from San Francisco on new year's eve and camp out on Colorado Blvd. That way the next morning we had front row seats for the Rose Parade. When it was over we'd all go back to my brother's apartment (3 blocks from Colorado Blvd,) and sleep for a couple of hours. Then we'd get up, get something to eat and head over to the Rose Bowl for the game. Those were the best New Years I ever saw.

Loving the new format. LAFC (an MLS soccer team) plays at the Banc of California stadium. Their matches have one of the best crowds in all of LA sports. Non-stop singing and jumping all throughout the match. I highly recommend going to one of their matches, even if you're not so familiar with the sport.

My wife (at the time) and I went to the Coliseum in August of 1971 for a pre-season game between our Cowboys and the Rams. Then in June 1978 my brother & I (and our group of EMT's from Dallas) spent a LONGGGG day there coordinating EMS for a big amateur motocross competition.

The first time I ever set foot in the LA Coliseum was when the Rams first came back to LA. I was among the paramedics there for as medical standbys for the players. I’m not a huge football fan, but it was pretty exciting to stand at the 20 yard line for such an historic game. Really loving the videos. After watching your LA River video you referenced the sunset several times. I was wondering have you ever considered adding a couple of cameras aimed at your 3 & 9 o’clock positions? It could add some POV opportunities. Keep up the great work!

Micah, you've got an awesome thing going here. Using your commercial ticket to film breathtaking views of places people want to see. I have some rotor-wing time (I can take off, transition to FF, and land from a hover). My best friend is a deputy with LA who has been with Aero for years. I have flown with them about a dozen times. That is the coolest thing you can do off the ground for sure. My request would be for you to hit some of the Orange County foothills (Coto de Caza, Dove Canyon, and the area around Santiago Canyon and Rancho Santa Margarita). That is some of the most beautiful landscape around. Try and hit it before it turns brown for the summer. Keep up what you are doing. I used to fly RC helicopters. Watching your videos is like therapy for me that is free. Please continue.

I went to the Colosseum in 1995 for the Lowrider Magazine Super Show. They had steel plates covering the field and had the hydraulic hopping contest in front of a stage where I got to see a bunch or rappers including Ice Cube, Notorious B.I.G. and Da Brat. There was some kinda gang squabble towards the end of the show and L.A.P.D. rolled in with a helicopter and a wall of cops in riot gear to clear out the show. All attendees were pushed out onto one street and all the show cars were locked inside. Basically tons of lowriders who tired sunburnt and drunk were all on the street along with enthusiasts and random gangbaners....All from different neighborhoods and states and countries. The Energy was intense. It was crazy!

My old neighborhood back as a kid around 1948. Folk's bought a big house on 28th St., we rented rooms to students. I could here the Stadium on football games. Went with my Dad to post rooms for rent notices at USC. I was 5 years old. I think the house is gone now. Beautiful house, large palms in front, sprinkler system in the yard. Dad said it was the old Mayors house at one time. I loved California as a kid, we had a number of homes all around LA. Not nearly as many people then, pretty safe all over. Unfortunately we moved back to the Midwest a long time ago. Not sure I would like seeing LA now with so many people. Folk's would go to Knott's Berry Farm, Griffith Park, Catalina Island, Santa Monica, Palm Springs, Big Bear, San Diego and Tijuana. Have not seen California since 1972. But it's in my dreams.

THANK YOU for your awesome fly-over series of videos! I was born and raised in the L.A. area and everywhere you've been is very familiar to me. One of my aunts used to work at the Natural History Museum and we'd visit the area often to have lunch with her. I got lost in the Rose Garden when I was five years old, and performed at the Coliseum many times in halftime shows as part of the UCLA marching band (years before UCLA football moved to the Rose Bowl). I hope that someday soon you will be able to do a fly-over of UCLA and go down Wilshire Blvd. or Sunset and point out the landmarks there such as the L.A. County Museum of Art and the La Brea Tar Pits.

Did you know that the 1932 Olympics opening day ceremony ticket could be purchased for $1.00. My dad was an usher during the 32 games. There was a worldwide recession/depression so some teams did not attend due to the cost and the stadium was not full at times. Great video Micah, much appreciated.

Forum would be tricky due to LAX airspace as they fly directly over the Forum on approach. Traffic approaching from the west (opposite direction) is rare and usually at night. I would be interested in the sports complex next door to the south. The complex replaced Hollywood Park for all you old timers... but as luck would have it-- that pesky airspace .

Eventually the orange shuttle fuel tank is going to be reattached to the shuttle Endeavour, and then placed both vertically in "launch position". They just have to finish construction of the building to house it first. It's the only remaining shuttle main fuel tank. It never got used because of one of the two shuttle disasters. It was next in line to be used. It's massive in size. Was delivered to L.A. from Lousiana on a barge through the Panama canal. Saw it in person as they transported it on city streets to it's current location. Very cool.

Me too!! I also remember a few fun facts: 1. Everyone thought traffic was gonna be a nightmare. It was the opposite. Some two-way streets were made into 1 way. Also a lot of employers let their workers leave early. I think they started the day earlier too. 2. Crime was down. 3. The city looked great with all the banners that were put up and murals that were painted on the freeways. 4. Most people had smiles on their faces for those 2 weeks. 5. The song “I Love LA” was LA’s anthem even though it had been released the year before. It regained popularity due to: A. The Olympics B. Nike had an add campaign featuring a couple of Olympic athletes.

UCLA used to play football in the Colosseum before it moved to the Rose Bowl. In the 60's I was in army ROTC and was a color guard for their home games on the field. I can remember attending a Ram's game during the Watts riots in 1965. There was a National Guardsman with a rifle at every tree during the game and "deuce and a half" (2 1/2 ton) National Guard trucks with machine guns were patrolling the streets. In one UCLA game, Tommy Prothro, the coach, had a healthy lead and put in subs in the last quarter; he lost the game for us! The sports arena used to be next to the coliseum where the Lakers where Wilt Chamberlain led them to a two undefeated seasons and Lou Alcindor (Karem Abdul Jabbar) played for UCLA. I visited the other attractions in Exposition Park many times. (This was in the 50's to 70's). I got my first ticket for making a wrong turn neat the Colosseum! I had a car stolen and stripped when I did not park in a parking lot there; South Central L.A. is not a good place to be. My fraternity used to take a bus with a keg in it to the UCLA football games (I can remember going to the games but not coming home). Many happy happy memories!

I really enjoy your videos, especially your helicopter tours of LA. I know so many of the places from TV and the movies. (Back to the Future Trilogy 35th Anniversary edition in 4K UHD coming this summer!) The locations where notorious crimes were committed, the bars and bungalows where the celebrities died, the secluded canyons. And Los Angeles is so clear right now. Afternoon sun is my favorite, and the whole of LA looks stunningly beautiful from the air. Let me hit you with some obscure trivia that relates to how people in LA always call it "the" 101, "the" 405, etc. There's this movie from 2000, Dr. T & the Women. I watched it just because I like Robert Altman, the director, and the fact that it was filmed in Dallas. Stars Richard Gere, Helen Hunt, Farrah Fawcett, Laura Dern and Shelley Long. Of course it's filled with the required list of every outdated Dallas stereotype imaginable. At least it didn't have any cattle. At one point the Doc and all his boys are duck hunting (I guess they drove to Louisiana). They're chatting and the character played by Andy Richter is giving directions: "You take the LBJ..." I laughed out loud. What is this, The Californians on SNL? Around here, you say: "Get on Central." "North on the Tollway, past George Bush, east on Sam Rayburn." ("the" Tollway being our only "the".) "Stay away from LBJ and 30. It's a nightmare all the way to the lake." "It's gonna be so much better when they finish that Stemmons project downtown." Here's my request: Sunset Blvd., from Hollywood all the way to the beach. I want to see what Trousdale Estates and Holmby Hills look like. Keep up the good work, Micah. Love those vids. Stay safe. C

Your videos are wonderful! The empty roads are captivating. Your production quality is top notch! Thank you! Have you flown over the rose bowl? My only visit to the LA Coliseum was 1988. I was in the last month of my 4 years of active duty with the Marines. We were wearing our dress blues to help with the flag ceremony for a preseason NFL game between the San Diego Chargers and the LA Raiders. I was a Raiders fan as a young kid when they were in Oakland when John Madden was the coach. But as the years past I was no longer interested. They weren't in Oakland anymore it was weird. Little did I know attending this game would have the impact it did. I'd never seen an actual NFL game in person before. Then we were really on the field spreading the enormous flag that covered the entire field. Focused on the task nothing else. Following the strict instructions to properly handle this special flag. In a flurry of of activity we pulled it off like clockwork. There were bus loads of us from the Camp Pendleton, yet, few of us knew each other. We were given directions by the "Flag Man" and we did it. And in an instant we were done. Then the reality set in. I was standing next to real NFL pros. I was on the same field as the local legend Marcus Allen! I looked around to get my bearings and realize, these guys are friggin mountains! An enormous specimen playing a sport, getting paid money I could never comprehend. And the gorgeous ladies on their gigantic arms. We finally find our seats and it was anticlimactic. It looks like it's just a football field with a nearly empty stadium. It seemed so big on TV. Then a guy with a Polaroid camera and two babes in silver bikinis came by...then hearing what fans said to the Raiderettes. It was so disappointing. However, quite memorable. Getting to see it again in your fantastic video over 30 years later let me remember a great day. Thank you! Please continue sharing this wonderful content. And please keep including the Queen Mary. She truly is a unique gem.

I have been to this park many times over the last 30 years. The first time I went with my friend John the IMAX was in whats now the areospace/school? at the front of the park. The Science Museum I think wasnt open yet. Theres enough in this park to keep you busy for days! African History museum, Aviation musuem, Science museum with special roaming exhibits like the body, then the 5 story NHM in the back with several museums including the hidden GEM museum...Alone a must see! Oh then the football sized rose garden! Awesome place for a date! Hey dont knock it... worked for a freind of mine lol.

Cool, thanks for the fulfilled request! That place has changed a LOT since I went there. Shoulda pointed out the George Lucas Museum under construction. And yeah, saw a Rams game there around maybe 75 or 76? Don't remember anything about it except the stadium was lesss than half full!
