Thanks to a massive reduction in oil usage, oil tankers have started piling up off the coast of California near the port of Los Angeles. To see how the oil tankers look from the air, I flew my helicopter beyond the harbor on Sunday April 26th 2020. This is an update to the videos I’ve posted flying over Los Angeles.

Okay Micah, I would have chartered a helicopter flight like this to see oil tankers and islands. I am a private pilot out of current status and owned my Cessna for 24 years before selling it. So basically I grounded myself. ( don't ever do that ) but to my point. After watching this video I looked to see where I could send you some "Gas" money as a thank you and noticed how cool you are to have Not plastered that kind of information all over your channel. If you could post a link where I could donate some extra fuel time to you I would appreciate it. Paypal or that other one, Patron (sp) would be my preferred ones unless you have even something better. ;) Lets keep you up there a bit longer for our enjoyment. Loved the StarWars flyover a few vids back. Your the man 👍💯

It looks like most or all of those tankers and cargo ship have a helipad. And they're roughly in the same place on each ship. Very interesting.

Notice most of those heli spots say winch only, means they are clear for the Air Rescue guys to winch somebody on or off the boat NOT LAND!

My wife and I lived in a loft apartment at 3329 East Ocean Blvd. between Redondo and Coronado. Our window overlooked one of those oil islands. We used to sunbathe on the roof and remember watching the boat parade celebrating the 1984 Summer Olympics. Thanks for the flyover! Can't wait to see more of Seal Beach and OC! Stay safe. By the way, your daughter is adorable!

I used to live in Long Beach (Signal Hill) - I knew a lady that studied the abalone growing on those islands. Never knnew their names. I moved to North Idaho in 2009, so it's a real treat to see the old stomping grounds. I like the trees up here, but I miss the So Cal Beaches. Thanks Micah Muzio.

The brown in the water isn't oil. Sure, there are likely trace amounts of oil but what looks like the Exxon Valdez spill really isn't. It's either silt that gets disturbed from water movement/currents and/or kelp beds attached to the bottom but don't break the surface of the water. Great vids Micah. I've spent many hours sailing/racing around LB harbor and it is great to see it from the air. Thank you!

Hey Micah! Super fun to watch you fly again. I was glad that you took and pointed-out your additional safety precautions prior to flying-out over the water. We all want you safe for sure! I learned to fly and got my license out of Torrance (TOA) airport. Landed at Long Beach a few times. Good job staying legal. Good narration. Good Photography and editing. Make sure to plug your FBO! FLY SAFE!

Thanks for the view I always wanted to see; so clear amid some fog. Surprising I thought all the large tankers were fully laden but they down seem to be so albeit a few.

These videos are fantastic, thanks so much for taking the time to make and share them! And yeah, those ships were seriously creepy, when you first headed out I didn't think there could be that many huge vessels hidden from view, then more and more of them started popping out of the fog. I like fog, and large ships, but the combination... that's somewhat unsettling.

Love the flyovers. Maybe a flyover of famous drag strips and racetracks of Southern California. Even if they have faded away, it would be cool to see the locations from a birds eye view.

Hi Micah, I started watching your videos quite recently (you suddenly popped up in my YT recommendations haha) My wife and I live in the Netherlands but we have friends in LA so we try to visit as much as we can. Born on Coronado island. Went to school in El Cajon. Love your videos of Cali. But I’m home sick now 💕😂. Miss the fog horns and ferry boat rides. I go way back 1950’s..

Laid off from work right now and nice to see a different area of the US instead of the mid west in Indiana on the south shore of Lake Michigan. Was last out in the LA area way back in the mid 1970's and early 1980's. A lot has changed over time and good to see your videos to make my time a lot more enjoyable. Thank you and be safe.

You made me the oil tanker video. Interesting to see a tanker named Sabine. My grandfather served in a tanker USS Sabine (AO-25) in the Pacific in WW2. He got married in Long Beach whole in port. Thanks!

These videos are awesome! Keep them coming! I’d love to see a flight from San Pedro to Redondo, all along the Palos Verdes coast-line during a nice south swell. As a surfer, would be great to see all the waves breaking in that area.
