Helix probably has the best mix of airtime, positives hangtime and whip of any coaster I've ridden. The layout has so much variety and it's amazing. And I definitely agree with you on the launches. I went in expecting completely forceless launches but I was actually pushed back into my seat a bit. They're definitely not the most forceful, but the force is there.
Just discovered your channel after I've been considering going to Liseberg for the first time. This video was great, loved the way it was edited and all the little memes and references, keep it up!
I got to ride Helix for the first time a few weeks ago and it was fantastic, definitely was not underwhelmed at all despite being hyped for this thing since it was being built. I have two associations with the name, one being the double helix of the DNA fitting the lab style of the station and then ivy - scientific name Hedera helix - and the coaster itself makes quite a good impression of that plant as it wraps around the hill. 😀
100% agree with the smoothness take. After recently riding RTH, I can indeed confirm that Helix is a LOT smoother. But as a whole ride, I definitely prefer RTH.
I just have to say roller coasters have changed my life! My son loves them and he is an amazing young man who knows all about them and I dedicate this comment to him I love you son!
My son's recent obsession with roller coasters (despite being too small to ride most) got me into them too and luckily for me Liseberg is 10 minutes away. I've been 3 times this month already I love it.
Helix was on my bucket list for a long time, and I really had goosebumps when I finally got to ride it this summer: My expectations were high, but it still blew me away - what an amazing layout combined with high comfort and a banger of a soundtrack. It ranks at #2 in my favorites right behind Ride to Happiness! 🤩 Thanks for this fun review - I really appreciate the humorous elements and the Amaranthe reference near the end, it's a great band 🤘🏻
I had a blast riding this with you and the boys. My first ride on Helix in the front definitely left a lot to be desired. It brought me back to Taron and how disappointed I was after riding that coaster. But unlike Taron, Helix was able to redeem itself considerably. Like you said, we didn’t even bother to try front again because back was just that awesome! I love the variety of forces and elements on this ride and I think it’s one of the most pure fun coaster experiences, especially to marathon. 9/10 for me 🙌🏻
Loved riding it with you guys! It's definitely got a lot of variety across that long layout, which, on top of the setting, really is its strength. Couldn't agree more!
Great video! This video was made really good! This does look like a great coaster! My record for inversions on a coaster I've ridden is 7 as well on Banshee at Kings Island in Ohio. I like Banshee. Yeah the theming on this is kinda perplexing just like Kingda Ka in New Jersey for example.
The launches was the only disapointing thing with this coaster. everything else is amazing. and i still like the launches. My favorite part of the ride is the whip after the corkscrew, I fucking love getting Flung down the hill its so fucking enjoyable
I’d say MACK has been really underrated until RTH came around, but they’ve actually always been good rides. Can’t believe that I’ll ride both this and Exodus next year ! I’m such a lucky boy 🤣
It wouldn't surprise me if it was on purpose, since they probably want the model to be enjoyable for most people. Blue Fire also goes up and down in intensity through the entire layout and I've heard Copperhead Strike does, too
Rode Helix a few weeks ago and loved the setting but was a bit underwhelmed by the ride experience. Only managed to get middle row and one ride late in the afternoon as Park was really busy. Wish we’d now missed some of the other rides and got a back row ride. On the middle row ride we had, was left feeling like it needed a rocket in its backside, really disappointed with the pacing. Still enjoyed it but was expecting so much more, think we must of caught it on a bad day.
Sorry to hear that you didn't get the ideal ride you hoped for. I can definitely see why it underwhelmed you, as it did on my first ride. It's certainly one that requires a few more rides to fully appreciate, I think.
