Gr8 video, but I refuse to take my 63k 2021 Mojave into that environment no how no way, been there done that on Uncle Sams dime in multiple Military platforms, with that being said, glad all the sidewalk commandos had fun doing this video, nice to see the capability of my Gladiator on someone else’s dime!! Fantastic video! It's been nearly 20 years since I've been on the trail with my first Jeep and I've been telling my friends we need to take a trip. Just a few hours away and I have a JT Rubicon these days. Excellent video - freaking awesome music! Never heard the "my best friend is a snake" song...who is that...so funny!!

Visiting Moab with wife and kids in July on way to Rubicon Jeep Jamboree, won’t have any experienced spotters or support, Hells Revenge looks pretty manageable for a Rubicon on 37s and 2.5 lift and heavy under armor? As I’m typing this you’re talking about the escalator 😬😆

Hi, thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video. My gladiator has a 4.5” Skyjacker lift with 40” Nitto Trail Grapplers on 17x9 Fuel Zypher Beadlocks with -38 backspacing. A complete build video can be found in my first video “A Journey Through Space and Time”. Although I do need to warn you that I messed up and recorded the sound way too low, so it’s hard to hear. Please consider subscribing, and best of luck when you order your gladiator in 2022. If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out, I’m happy to help. (I have since changed the springs on my lift to 4.5” Evo Evolution springs, the Skyjacker springs made my Jeep lean to the passenger side. I reached out to Skyjacker but had no luck with warranty or replacement.)

@@LandoftheFree Thanks for the info... your build mirrors my personality.... I'm sure you and I would get along fantastically. I'm looking at the diesel, so I know some of my options will be limited, but hopefully the market will start catching up . Video can change color, is yours the gator green ? After watch this video and many others, it seems maybe the front mounted trail cam might be worth the extra $$. One big concern is having to regear for the larger tires. I have read, with the diesel, people are running 35's & 37's no problem, but will have to regear for the 40's. The gladiator just looks at home with a 4"/4.5" lift on 40's. Subbed ! will check out your other videos, THANKS !

Looked fun it’s been a long time since I have been on that trail the last time was in a full size 77 f150 back in 1996 Do you have any advice for a soon to be gladiator Mojave owner that’s not too overboard
@LandoftheFree
@LandoftheFree 3 года назад
Thanks for watching. If I had any advice it’d be to prioritize getting out and enjoying the time spent with family and friends in your Gladiator. As for any build recommendations, I’d prioritize in the following order: 1. Lift and larger tires 2. Recovery gear (winch, straps, etc.) 3. Lights 4. Possibly new gears if your tires are 37” or larger 5. Skid plates, rock sliders, bumpers 6. Creature comforts I would analyze how you intend to use it. Rock crawling? Desert mobbing? Mall crawling? And build it for that particular mission. Also, build it based on you needs and likes, don’t get caught up in other peoples tastes. Good luck, and happy trails.

Thanks for watching. The gladiator has 40” tires with a 4.5” Skyjacker lift. I have since replaced the Skyjacker springs with Evo Manufacturing springs, also 4.5”. The Jeep sat a little crooked with the Skyjacker springs.

Have you upgraded or swapped out your axles to handle the 40’s ? Any steering assist required? Thanks man
@LandoftheFree
@LandoftheFree 3 года назад
I put ARTEC Industries trusses and gussets on the stock axles, I also re-geared the axles to 5.38 Yukon gears. I don’t currently have any steering upgrades, but I’ve got them in the works. Steering becomes an issue once the power steering fluid heats up.

What tire pressure are you running, the tires do not look like you aired them down?
@LandoftheFree
@LandoftheFree 2 года назад
Good question, and justified. I aired down to 8 psi, it clearly wasn’t enough. I’ve since learned that I need to air down to 5.5-6 psi to get the proper sidewall deflection. The Nittos that I’m running must have super stiff sidewalls, but I was reluctant to go lower than 8 psi because I had a problem with a different rig that would “burp” air out of the inside bead when I aired down too low. Thanks for asking, happy trails.

Hi Rick, thanks for watching. I’ve never considered doing a tour, and wouldn’t consider myself the best option. I know there’s plenty of places in Moab that would offer a better service than I could provide. My approach has always been to find a group at the trail head, or even out on the trail, and then simply ask if I could tag along. Everyone seems very willing to let us join their group, and I’ve made many new friends this way. The off-road community is great in this regard. Best of luck, happy trails, and don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks again.

@@LandoftheFree that’s awesome. Took a glance at vid, will watch it after work. Getting my lil guy into it too. I had a layoff from mtb for about 17 years cause I was playing Rugby full time and working and just didn’t have the time. Got back into it in 2016 as Rugby career neared its end. Man how far the bikes have come. On a nice full squish all mountain bike (Santa Cruz Bronson) now and loving it. It’s like my bmx bike from the 80s and a mountain bike had a baby. One of the reasons I got the Gladiator is bc with an Alucab canopy I can store it in the bed 24/7 securely along with all my mtb stuff, still have lots of room left in bed, and still have my entire back seat area free. Plus the Gladiator Rubicon is just a bad ass go anywhere adventure rig. It’s funny how much similarity there is between mtbing and offroading- line choice, positioning the rig, getting muddy and just enjoying being outdoors in general. Like your set up. Are you running 37s or 40s on there? For me I’m gonna go 35s with a 2 in lift at least for first set of tires as it should be plenty sufficient for my uses. I’d like to modify as little as possible on it but still get what I need. I’ll get wheels that can handle 37s should I change my mind down the road. But first mod will be bumper and winch. Im far more likely to get myself stuck in one of our Appalachian muddy bogholes than need 35s immediately. Man you live in a beautiful place. I did Moab in about 92 on a fully rigid Mongoose Hilltopper (back when Mongoose still made legit mtbs) and was just blown away by the scenery. Seen a lot more of the world since, but Moab and Utah in general still never cease to impress. Have fun out there and enjoy getting your lil man into the sport. 🤙

Looks like a fun day. Nice Jeeps but that break-over angle is really bad on this trail. Poor bumper. Probably rides nicer on the highway though. You might want to rethink some of your earlier lines. 4:18 is text book, what not to do in Moab but I do realize with that long wheelbase, your approach angles are more limited. In general, as I'm sure you know since you grew up there, you never want to ascend on an angle to the incline- try to go as straight up and down as possible. Good job on H*ll's Gate though. I passed that obstacle but did the main trail without any issues. I reversed several times to make sure I lined up perfectly with the hills. Nothing to prove on TOC- good choice to skip. That was the site of a tragedy years ago. RIP. With that event in mind, be very careful about carrying gas externally on any trail where you might tip. Also, Moab Rim had 2 fatalities just after we left in April 2021. I think that was equipment failure- something snapped and they rolled back and off the rim.

Thanks for the pointers, I appreciate everyone’s perspective. We can all take a moment to learn from others. I’ve got a new rear bumper in the works, it will dramatically improve my departure angle. Thanks for watching. Happy trails!
@MOAB-UT
@MOAB-UT 3 года назад
@@LandoftheFree Not trying to give pointers- just commenting on the line you took across the hill which surprised me. The bumper should help but I don't really think that rig was made for trails that have steep obstacles- more hills and dirt roads and maybe sand IMO. Even with the new bumper- it will hit.
